3B and lost

Last year I discovered the cg method. I was super excited so I went and got my hair cut (1st one designed for curly hair) and bought all of the products they suggested. While using the DevaCurl line I found that I am sensitive to one of the ingredients, as I always break out in hives while using them. I didn't want to waste the money by not using the products, so I forced myself to continue using them because I was seeing great results in my hair, I was just miserable using them. Well I fell off the wagon because the hair results weren't worth the hives, and itchy scalp.

Now I am really hesitant to start again, but my hair is so dry I don't know what to do any more. I am currently using the suave naturals conditioner but went back to shampoo to try and get rid of the itchy scalp (didn't help) I even tried the ACV wash and that helped at first but it didn't seem to fix the problem. I have resulted to always wearing my hair in pony tails so I don't have to deal with it.

What products work for you? Has anyone else had a reaction to this product but found something that worked for them?

My hair:
3B, medium texture, medium porosity, med-high density
Welcome! Have you had your scalp condition diagnosed by your family doctor since it's continuing after you stopped using the products? Sounds like you may have some form of dermatitis, that needs resolving before you experiment with a load of new products.

If you do have dermatitis avoid sulphate surfactants, any alkaline product and be sure you are eating an anti inflammatory nutrient dense wholefood diet. Also never ever scratch, wash your hair in cool water, use no or low heat when drying your hair and use cold compresses to relieve the itching. Heat and scratching can worsen the problem by causing histamine to be released.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect

I have actually talked to a doctor about it before, and he confirmed that it isn't dermatitis and is just a sensitive case of hives (can be caused by stress, or an allergic reaction).

I always air dry my hair, and the only product I use is coconut oil. It seemed to help at first now my hair is just frizzy again. I am on day 1 of trying CG again but I was super itchy this morning. I almost wonder if I am scrubbing my scalp too hard when I do this and cause scratches. I am using the pads of my fingers but I feel the dirt rubbing against my scalp.

Also, this is a throwback to my early days trying to figure out what to do with my unmanageable hair, I grabbed my brothers hair gel, Crew and it seemed to do really well. Is this a curly girl approved product?

Coconut oil is great for porous hair but it's not a conditioner. Yes that gel is fine. Komaza Care products contain many scalp friendly ingredients and are at pH 4.5. Otherwise you could purchase a simple conditioner 'base' to which you add your own oils, humectants or proteins as you see fit. You might get on well with products containing aloe vera inner leaf gel, proven anti inflammatory, healing and hypo allergenic. Whole leaf juice is not necessarily hypoallergenic.
