New with questions

I've been reading this forum for a little while and finally registered. I got a satin pillowcase and some Suave Clarifying conditioner, Herbal Essences Set Me Up, and L'Oreal Out of Bed due to recommendations. I haven't gotten the CG book yet, and wanted to make sure these products are CG friendly. Can someone tell me what PVP and PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil are? Are they water soluble? What about parabens, are they bad? How about (poly)quaternium? Is there an ingredients list somewhere I can look at that explains them?

Also, I tried doing the plopping method, but couldn't get the hang of twisting the towel right, so I just put it in a turban. I used to put product on after towel drying my hair and by then it had already started to frizz. Last night I put on the gel before puttting my hair in a towel and it made a world of difference! My curls were really well defined and I didn't have any frizz.
