Hey, I've been surfing this page off and on for years looking for a smidge of information here and answering questions there but have never really dove in hard core. Well, today is the day I decide to.

I noticed in the past few weeks my hair has been frustratingly rebellious, and by that I mean it has not been curling like it used to..

I have rather porous hair that is prone to split ends and frizz. I'd say I have medium to low density and width of the hair itself, but I could be wrong. I color my hair with both permanent and semi permanent dyes and do all my cut and coloring myself. Because of the frizz, I dislike blowdrying my hair or doing other heat styling (Partially because my hair won't hold it for very long) except for straightening my bangs.

I had somewhere in between 2b/2c hair and now I am lucky to have 2a last longer than 2 hours. VERY annoying because I love my curls and would like to embrace them. SO, I am here for tons of product advice, from DIY to ordering offline as long as it is within my budget.

When my hair was at its curly peak, I was using WEN hair products with tressume's split end leave in conditioner. After awhile, this became too expensive and left buildup during the summer and humid seasons..

I then went to the vinegar and baking soda no-poo methods and dislikes how inconsistent it was. Still using the Tressume Split end repair serum.

I switched to Organix Keratin Oil Shampoo Conditioner and their spray in oil, and saw some improvement, especially with my split ends and frizz but wanted something with more hold..

Currently I am using Organix Keratin Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, Redken curvaseous ringlet serum (recommended by a stylist), and the Tressume Split end product, though I am looking for a change because I believe my hair dislikes silicones and sulfates..

I hope I not only can learn alot from here but can also help others learn and grow with my experience and knowledge!
Considered going CG? Looks to me you could also benefit from protien treatments.

Sometimes I get carried away and manipulate him too much. He tells me he's fine on his own but I never listen. I wash him less now and all in all we're happy.

It refers to the Curly Girl method seen in Lorraine Massey's book - you can get it on Amazon really cheap and I'd really recommend you do! It's so handy, full of different ways to style and wash different kinds of curls and all the ingredients you should look for or avoid (such as sulfates, silicones etc.)

Also, I think it is important to mention I wash my hair every 3-4 days though sometimes more frequently during the summer due to oily roots, mostly in my bangs. It shows more in my bangs because I straighten them..

Will the CG method make my bangs too oily or greasy?

Also what (affordable) products would you recommend?
No, your hair shouldn't be oily or greasy
Remember you can either co-wash or low-poo, depending on your preference and how your hair copes. Co-washing (aka conditioner washing) works great for some, but others have issues with it (build-up etc.).

I personally low-poo and love it! I use the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus shampoo (great ingredients and very moisturising), the Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner, As I Am or KCKT as a leave-in and then either the UG Scrunching Curl Friends Jelly or the Ouidad Climate Control as my gels.

They're the products that work great for my hair and that I've had really good experiences with, so I'd recommend them. But obviously everyone's hair is different
