New at this. *Think* I'm 2C. Advice welcome!

Hello, and Happy Curls to you all!

I've blown my hair straight for most of my life (ocassionally letting it wave). But it never STAYS straight, it waves (the underside is curliest) or frizzes or both. Smooth stick-straight straight hair never happens.

So, I quit. I shall not fight it. I'm committing to this "curly girly method thing" for at least six weeks. I'll reassess on St Pat's (fitting, since we credit Irish roots for the curls and waves).

I've been air drying for a few weeks. Kind of easing into it, I guess. Purged all silicones and sulfates this weekend. Gave my hair a good wash and an avocado mask this morning. And now off we go "for reals."

AM I 2C? I think I'm 2C. I'll try to post some pics. My curls (if air dried) curl from the root. They spiral in front, but less so in back. VERY prone to "doing it's own thing" even when "styled." It's moisture hungry (I have a life long obsession with conditioner). I always feel like my hair is too curly to be called wavy and too wavy to be called curly....

TROUBLE "Clumping." I'm really struggling with this. The clumps want to break apart and so I have thin curls all over and I look like the poster child for an eighties hair-band.

I've started this journey largely in an effort to ESCAPE FRIZZ!!!! I get frizz on straight, curly, and wavy days. When curly, I especially feel there's a "halo of frizz" that puffs up and obscure all the pretty curls. (And when "straight" it fuzzes from the style and into a half-waved or half-curled or just plain frizzy thing.)

Okay, that's me. "Hi, my name is Laura and I am now obsessed with my hair. My friends can't take the whining any more, so now I need to talk to someone who understand." I have a love/hate relationship with my bi-polar hair.

Happy Hairs,
Laura

(I should probably mention that my dark brown, fine-but-a-lot-of-it, high porosity hair is Really Long.)

Once again welcome!
