#1: Newly Returning Natural
Hello, Im Jennifer. Ive been natural since 2006. In 2009 I decided to loc my hair and at the beginning of this month I picked out my 28 inch locs which I had started and maintained on my own at home. Since then I have been wearing crochet braids. Now, tomorrow I will be getting my hair professionally cut by a licensed barber, into a tapered cut. I am excited and a little nervous. Im ready for the change and have never been afraid to cut my hair. After having long hair for so long it is a welcome change. I plan to allow the hair at the top of my head to grow and only get the sides cut as maintenance for the style. I am a combination curly head which means I have 3 or more different hair types throughout my head ranging from 3c-4b with 4a being the predominant type if I remember correctly. A good friend and fellow natural for several years is going with me to get hers cut in the same stlye. We've been all over Pinterest, Instagram and Youtube looking at stlyes and recommendations. So with all that said I am happy to be coming back to the "loose" natural community. Now I must figure out all over again which products my hair will respond best too. I am seriously considering th e As I Am line which is available at my local WalMart. What is the mantra? Wash(co-wash), condtion, moisturize, and seal? I welcome any and all suggestions and help. Thanks in advance all!
