Hair story. Help!!!

Okay so right now I'm in high school but I hate my hair and I'm so tired of it, a couple months ago I got my perm that I get twice a year as I been since I was 9. I am black and Puerto Rican so I have big poofy curls or that's what I been told as a kid. I tried the whole natural thing like I didn't perm it for a year and a half before in seventh grade grade but it was crazy! So in eight grade I straightened every single day not even dealing with my hair but this summer I realized all the straightening made my curls just disappear. I got the perms cause my hair was too frizzy be handled and it just defined my curls for a few months but this time it just made my hair frizzy and dry. I want my curls back, the natural thing didn't work with the two hair type and being in high school having to take a lot of time on getting ready. I have been using natural products and stuff without sulfate or silicones and it curls at the end but the roots are a mess and that's where I get it permed so did something go wrong?? And what should I do?
