Recent convert to the Curly Girl Method having problems with frizz

Hi, folks!

Within the last week I've adopted the Curly Girl Method of hair care. I did my final rinse with a sulfate shampoo, have been co-washing with VO5 Moisture Milks conditioner, and have been applying Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie and Gel Soufflé for additional moisture and definition. I plop for about 20 minutes and then allow my hair to air dry, blowing the roots dry with a diffuser on a warm setting.

I've been mostly pleased with the results. My hair has WAY more body and curl definition than it ever has before, but I'm having problems with frizz. My hair is (I think) 2b, fine, and porous, and the worst of the frizz has been near my crown. Even after pineappling overnight, the second day is scary.

Any helpful tips or product recommendations? Thank you!
My hair is more medium than fine, but I either smooth some argan or grapeseed oil over my frizzy parts and if that doesn't work I lightly spritz some diluted rinse out conditioner on it and smooth it down that way.
medium-high density, normal porosity/ high at ends, medium width, normal elasticity, color-treated, unsure of curl type
CW: suave naturals\ as I am coconut cowash

Styler: econatural curling cocktail or KCCC
Gel: LALSG \ LOTD aloe gel
SOTC: grapeseed oil \ argan oil
Could be the plopping - that gives me frizz as I think it absorbs my product and IDK . . . it just doesn't work for me.

Also the diffusing could be contributing, especially if your hair is porous. Have you tried diffusing on the cool setting? If I diffuse it's only ever on cool.

ANOTHER possibility (LOL) could be your styling products. I don't know about the Gel Soufflé, but the Smoothie made my hair feel a bit gunky and gave me some frizz too. Frizz can mostly be attributed to lack of moisture and stuff like the Shea Moisture smoothie doesn't really inject moisture into your hair, but more tends to seal/coat it. You might have better luck using a water-based leave-in to really add moisture and hydrate your curls.

For me, I get the best results using a water-based leave-in and a water-based gel. No frizzies in sight!

Those products your using gave me frizz too. The curl souffle and gel by shea moisture just didn't work for me. Felt sticky and gunky.

Walmart target and Sallys carries a line called "asiam". I really like their leave in and curling jelly but I also use homemade flaxseed gel
I would lay off the Shea Moisture products unless you intend to low poo. Also, if you have hard water this could be an issue. People with hard water have a hard time exclusively cowashing. I'd clarify and start over.
