Anyway, I had weird results. I put it in my hair after my shower but before my leave-in. It worked as a type of gel because it made my hair hard. Most people did not experience this, so I don't know what happened.
I have 3c hair that I haven't straightened in over 5 years. It's just past shoulder length when dry, and almost waist length when pulled straight.

Products:
9/02/08 Went CG
05/12/09 Still CG. Cowashing with VO5 Lavender Luster. I then condition with Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Styling with VO5 Lavender Luster conditioner with my wide-toothed comb.

This is great! I consider myself a newbie. Found this site in September. Quit my flatiron around the 1st of October and gave up cones within the last couple weeks. Still researching and experiementing--trying to find the right products and routines. This will help soooo much!! Thanks!!
3a (I think) New to going curly after almost 20 years of straight hair. Not curly every day yet--but most days.

Trying EVERYTHING right now. Not yet sure what my hair loves or hates.

Gave up flat iron on or around 10/1/08!
Wow very helpful info. I just want to say thanks to all the contributed in this thread. My curls thank you too.
Edited due to a cyberstalker. Sorry, guys.

Thought it was time to surface this again. We seem to have lots of newbies lately so maybe this will help answer some of the questions.

This is fantastic - I'm a newbie and desperately conscious of the need to read and read and read before asking basic questions, so something like this is invaluable! I think it's just that when one has spent thirty (ahem) years hating one's hair and then one finds this fantastic group of positive curlies it's hard not to be impatient and want to start everything right away - to make up for lost time, so to speak!
CG since 04/03/09 so be gentle with me!
COwash - Suave Coconut, VO5 S&C and Vanilla Mint Tea.
Condish - LPVNG (pink one), Lustrasilk
DT - Burt's Bees Grapefruit and Shea
Styling - Currently HESMU and HETT, but just received some FSG from BB - yippee!
Randoms - Nexxus Emergencee, hot oil because my hair has been tortured by years of highlighting!

Have had a love-hate relationship with my hair for too long, but am so excited to have found this site and the whole CG philosophy!

Fear not, Trigglet -- we have *all* been there. You're among friends here.
