I'd never seen this site before, and man, do I wish I'd seen something like it when I was 14, and my hair spiralled wildly out of control and I felt ugly and unloveable. Power to the teens; love yourself! People pay money for your gorgeous curls.
I'm 27, a student, and according to the guidelines I'm somewhere between a 3b/3c. If there's a way to upload a picture, I will, but imagine that Shirley Temple grew up and became a graduate student, and you're 90% of the way there. :-) My hair will hold whatever curl I tell it to, so it's normally a tight 3b.
Anyhow. I usually wash my hair every other day with TJ's liquid peppermint soap and I'd hit on the apple vinegar treatment due to my awesome grandmother, and my hair is generally pretty soft, but I do have to use Garnier Fructis' curl creme or my hair goes out of its way to gain volume and eat passersby. A good haircut by a stylist who knew how to cut curls allowed me to wear a short bob for the first time in my life and now I have a fun, flirty look.
This site rocks and I'm looking forward to learning more. Really, I'm just happy that teenagers with curly hair have a place to go. It would have saved me a lot of angst in my teens.
you can't take the sky from me....
