Newbie from Missouri
Howdy everybody! I live in hot, humid central Missouri and my hair is a big ball of fluff today, although we are having a cooler day today. I have been fighting my curly (3a) hair my whole life. The past 3 years I have been wearing it stick straight, thanks to Chi reconditioning. Now that I am no longer doing that it is a mixed mess. The ends (about 2-3" worth) are still straight, the rest is wavy/curly. I have made an appt with a local stylist that I found recommended under CurlSalons and am hoping a big trim and shapeup will help me out.
Due to the humidity and my hair's natural curl it is curling like mad except for the ends. I know there must be products that will make the ends curl or straight haired gals would never be able to go curly. I have to keep my products lightweight because my hair is also fine and heavy goop pulls the curls out. I sometimes mix gels with cream, or use just spray gels. What I really like are curling mists which don't even have gel in them. There used to be lots of products like that back in the 80's and 90's but I can't find any lately. Anyone have any ideas or know of any?
I have an order in for some of the Deva products and some other brands I found at CurlMart so once I get them I will have lots of fun trying them out. I read the Curly Girl book when it first came out a few years back and I would have to say I am a modified CG. I do shampoo sometimes, usually about once a week with a non-sulfate shampoo. The rest of the time I use CO to clean my hair and scalp. I don't condition again after rinsing with another conditioner. I just really never thought of it. Is it necessary? It hasn't seemed to be for my hair. My hair is dark but streaked with silver. It actually looks like I had it foiled that way and people do ask me if I did. As if I would WANT silver hair??? LOL. Anyway, it hasn't been colored for 4 years in prep for the Chi treatments I was getting. Right now it is past my shoulders a few inches but after my upcoming cut I expect it will have to be at my shoulders again to get rid of all the old straight hair.
Gosh I'm windy! Sorry. I just really wanted to say hi, I'm here. I have been lurking and reading and used to visit a lot before I straightened.
Hopebaby
