Another newbie
Hi everyone,
I'm new as of today. I've come across this site before when searching for product suggestions and tips while transitioning but just decided to join today. I started my transition in Nov '08 and I'm so glad I did. I still have one section that has some relaxed hair from when I was wearing sew-ins but for the most part, I relaxer free! The problem that I'm having now is finding a product that works with my hair but is all or at least majority natural/organic. When my hair is wet, the curls look great but once it dries, it's a curly/frizzy/dry/afro and I don't like it. I've tried Noodle head products, Miss Jessie's curly pudding & baby buttercream and neither really give me the look I want. I will say the curls were more defined when I used the noodle head shampoo but at this point, I'm doing twist-outs to keep the curls. I just ordered a sample kit from Curls so we'll see how that works. Has anyone used their products?
Oh yeah, if I didn't say before, I'm so glad I found this sight.

Hey guy. I am new gal. I am one month no-poo. Discovered after 18 years that I am really a curly. Each morning is still a surprise when I wake up to a head full of curls.
This site is wonderful. Since I found it and started experimenting, it has really helped. I love the people on here, so upbeat and helpful.

Newbie and Frustrated with Curls!
Hi there my name is Lana and this website is so great for curly girls..
First i need a little help determining my hairtype but i believe that it is a combination of 3c, 4a & 4b. The back of my hair is much straighter than the middle, whereas the front is very curly and i tend to get the most frizz in this area.
Secondly my hair is THINNING!..OR SHEDDING which one i'm not sure..:S..and i have this build up on my scalp in patches..I live between the Caribbean and Canada and was wondering if the climate change would cause this?
My current routine which i recently started includes:
Shampoo: Mixed Chics
Conditioner: Mixed Chics
Leave-In: Kinky Curly Knot today
Burnt Sugar Pommade by Oyin ( i kinda find this a bit too heavy)
I discovered this website and after reading about sulfates and silicones became a bit worried as to if these could also cause thinning or shedding??
At this point i'm so FRUSTRATED and i am just using conditioner(silicone free) and using jojoba oil in between my regular wash.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

I'm new at this:)
Hi, I'm kacy and I'm pretty new at this. I have 3a/b type hair. I have longish length hair and I soooo frustrated that there are NOOOOO cute haircuts. I am a cheerleader so I pull my crazy curly hair up often. I am so excited about finding this website, i think it's a great idea and a big help for all the girls with curly hair.
But I've been considering doing a long inverted bob. So does anyone have an suggestions or picturess??

Newbie with Curl disaster -HELP!!!
Hi, my name is Nikki and I am new to the forum, but have used this site for information for a few months. I have naturally curly hair and am somewhere between a 2b & 3a. I have colored my own hair for years, but had a recent color disaster. 3 days ago, I had my stylist strip the bad color and follow up with a fresh color and new highlights. She did some sort of toners in between. I left with wet hair because I had been there for almost 4 hours and was ready to go home. My hair looked kind of weird, but I thought it was because we hadn't styled it. I was wrong - it is severely damaged and my curls look like flat straw. There is no roundness to them. I called the next day and she had me do an at home deep conditioning. That didn't help, so I did a hot oil treatment. Still - flat zig zag looking hair, with no curl. Please help!
Thanks,
Nikki

What's up peoples?
Hello to all the curly/natural ladies (and perhaps some men) on this site.
I have seen the site before but never ventured past certain parts and just came across determining my hair type and what it needs to keep it healthy. Moisture, moisture, and more moisture!!
I have been natural on and off for a number of years and finally decided to keep it "real" since 2002.
I had it nearly bald for a good while, being intimidated by the thought of tangling with my extremely thick 4b hair.
Now, I have not cut it for about 3 years and I absolutely LOVE the hair that I was born with.
Can't wait to get some hair tips and perhaps share some of mine.
Maybe with this site I can convince my younger sister to leave the creamy crack alone and join our mom and other sister on our journey of natural hair.
