Marianna did not push any products, she gave a diagram to follow, and suggested the products that were helpful. My regular stylist, Rosa, is no longer at Christo. I waited a long time before I went back because I was so nervous about trying a new stylist. Well, worry no more... Ivan saved the day. Ivan is so patient and friendly. I walked in with a mess of dry hair and he listened to me and my concerns. I told him I am extremely low maintenance and didn't want to spend hours on my hair. He told me don't worry,he will take care of it. WOW... he sure did. Gave me a trim and worked his magic with his scissors. Threw in some Structura Lotion and voila..... that was it. Air dry or diffuse and that's all I need. For all of you waiting to find someone new since Rosa left... go to Ivan. He is wonderful! I know all of the stylists at Christo are good but I tried Ivan and I'm sticking to him

It was more than i usually like to spend on a cut but with my regular stylist moving to an inconvenient location, I decided to finally break down make an appt at Christo which I'd heard great things about. I came to Christo Fifth Ave after hearing about it from my mom. I decided to give it go with Ray for my prom night. He was very attentive to every detail and always had me in mind when coming up with the perfect hairstyle for my special night. I brought in my dress to show him and he made plenty of sketches of what to do to my hair before presenting me with his best idea. After many runs with horrible blow outs and up dos, I was nervous, but continued believing in him. It was the right choice because my hair came out beautiful! There was so much detail in my hair from the single braid in the center to the carefully woven locks held by bobby pins. He also did my make-up! I have a babyface, and to be honest, I was tired of the cutesy look. I didn't even need to tell him I was tired of it because he transformed me into someone with a mature-edge. Thanks Ray! Christo is an absolute doll! His methodology is truly something else! Stepping into the salon, I already knew this place was gonna be worth the bucks. I've been around here and there, trying to find my IT salon and I think I've found it! This man knows exactly what he's talking about. No hesitance, straight-forward, and very understanding. He heeded to my wishes of having it cut short, keeping it long in the back, and making it look good! By the way, even the products he used smelled nice - I had none of the chemical odor nonsense in my hair!
Not only did I end up purchasing their shampoos and conditioner, but their bio gel mousse too! And I have to say, the mousse is one of the smartest things I bought for hair like mine!

After countless of bad haircuts from stylists who claim to know curly hair, I decided to give it one last shot with Christo Fifth Avenue last week. It was the best decision I have ever made. The $495 that I spent (with Christo himself) was well worth it because no one has ever styled my hair the way this salon has. Christo spent a generous time getting know my hair and teaching my how to style it healthily. And you know what? The next day, my hair was still beautiful and glowing! I walked out of that salon looking like Angelina Jolie at the Oscars!
I returned today for a blowout from Ray, who is an exceptional senior stylist. Not only did I find a salon to call my own, but it's a salon that truly understands what curly girls need! I came to Christo, after countless bad haircuts, with dry, brittle, dull hair (which I used to straighten by pulling at the hair dryer) and it changed my (hair) life! Alice is not only knowledgeable and very caring, but she takes such pride in her work and interest in your hair. My hair is now healthy, shiny and -- under Alice's talented hands -- styled, using my naturally curly (3A) locks, in a manner that suits my face, my lifestyle (simple and easy) -- sort of). Christo 5th Avenue is a haven for curly hair girls. I have curly (type 3) hair which tends to have two volumes, big and bigger. My hairdresser is Rosa who listens, advices and ultimately gives me a beautiful cut and perfect curls. I am of spanish descent with thick curls and very often my experiences with downtown salons leave me disappointed because they either can't or dont know how to cut or style my hair. If you have experienced such disappointments in the past, please go see Rosa you wont be disappointed. Additionally, the salon is elegant yet low key, nobody is pushing products and everyone is friendly and customer oriented.

After the birth of both my daughters, I lost alot of hair and Alice cut and styled my hair in such a way that it minimized the awkwardness of my hair during this transitional phase. dont believe the hype.. first let me say, i'm 2 yrs natural and needed a trim, which normally i do myself with much success..my good friend has gone to tameeka and raved about her. So i took a chance. Tameeka is very educated when it comes to natural hair. i'm a 4a/4b and she had my curls defined. she cares more about the method of achieving defined curls then the products used. But my main purpose was to get a cut and her cut was horrible. my hair was SUPER short in the middle ( 2 inches ) and the front was very uneven- one side was noticable shorter then the other. and the back was super long 6+ inches. I normally wear my hair stretched so this haircut is definitely something I cant hide that well. I mentioned my experience to my good friend and she too had the same problem- uneven, botched hair cut.. she went to diane da costa who fixed her cut from tameeka. would i recommend tameeka- probably not, but i'm sure there are other stylists who will do a better job and not at the price her salon charges ($130)..damn 5th ave salons lol. now off to hide in some braids for a few months until i get my length back :( major setback in my hair goals.

This is my second time going to a professional stylist who can cut my hair in its natural state. I was adament about finding someone that would not have to straighten my hair first and then cut. My first experience left me with an uneasy feeling about going to professionals period for a cut and style. But after some research and reviewing many website reviews for Tameeka, I had to make an appointment. I had an awesome experience with her. She not only styled my hair and shaped it perfectly, she took the time to educated me about my hair type and how to care for it going forward, even going into the complexities of how much product my hair needs at various points of my hair, as it's SUPER DUPER THICK (especially no top) and I've been struggling with maintaining consistent styling because I have multiple curl types on my head. I took her advice on how to acheive the same look through self styling. I left the solon to recieve multiple compliments as I walked home. She is a down to earth lady, who is a great communicator and a GEM of a stylist. I'll definitely be back to Christo's on Fifth just for her.

I am totally delighted with my new cut from Alice at Christo's salon in NYC. I had been to her years ago and that cut was good, but this is sensational. I think the difference is that my hair is in much better condition since I have learned so much at nc.com.
I highly recommend Alice to everyone. I've been to others at Christo and for a while I was going to Mark at the Frederik Fekkai salon, but nothing compares to this. She got my curls to have volume on top with perfect layering which was exactly what I wanted. She took my face shape into account. This is really A+++.
The salon is lovely, specializing in curly cuts. The hair was cut wet, but I like this cut better than the 2 I got at Devachan because it falls evenly. It's a really cute, short, sassy cut - perfect and just what I wanted!
I was treated in a gracious manner and served iced lime water since it was broiling outside and later hot coffee (since I'm an addict regardless of the temperature).
Anyone who has any questions, please feel free to pm me. The cut was $155 (worth it!) and she spent a long, unhurried time showing me how to do it. I don't follow her instructions at home and yet my hair looks great. Nothing works like a great cut. Thank you Alice!!!

I was so excited when I first arrived at christo fifth avenue salon because that was my decision and christo was going to be my stylist. After 20 min. of consultation, drawing, and designing my new look, he started his magic work and 2 hours later, there was a whole new me with beautiful curls. My red color was shiny for the first time in my life. I guess it makes a difference when you go to someone who is a legend of the knowledge of curly hair. It was the first time I walked out of a salon without crying about someone who damaged my curls. Alice was great. I went to her after reading Christo reviews online...I was debating between Ouidad and Christo 5th Ave and on a hunch, chose to go with Christo. My hair seems to have lost some umph since I was hit with a 10-day tropical bug. I've been really anxious - my curls seemed limp, my hair thinner. Alice helped me understand that these effects may be irreversible, and while I'm not giving up, she revived what I do have! Beyond that, Alice is clearly very knowledgable, and truly cares about helping curlies stay happy and healthy. She's also really easy to talk to. The woman who washed my hair gave me a fantastic head massage -- twice. To top it all off, Alice wrote me a letter with her tips and her styling suggestions so that I can recreate her work on my own. I haven't exactly recreated the look at home, but I'm pretty happy with what I am able to do. (I'm used to low-maintenance styling...) As for the product line, I find that while the hold is good and strong, my hair feels rather stiff. I am going to keep trying the Curlisto, Ouidad and a combination of the two until I find what works best with my 3b/a head!

Tameeka is awesome. I travel all the way from CT every 6 months to get my hair cut and styled by her.
She knows exactly how to make my hair look the best and I always get tons of complements when she's through!!
I have tight curls and she's an expert at cutting and coloring them in a way that highlights my unique curl pattern and texture.
I will continue to travel because to me it's totally worth it. My hair is super long now ever since I went to her for my first BC ( big chop)... all stretched out my hair is now down to my lower back.
The Curlisto product line is also fabulous! it leaves your curls defined but soft and shiny.
The salon itself is a pampering experience for any curly head, you'll feel like a queen and the staff is so nice and attentive.

I usually only save up 400 dollar for a pair of nice shoes or a handbag. I never thought of spending that much for a haircut. Not only but i went all out got my coils hi-lite-ted for 380 But after experiencing bad haircuts over last 6 years , I decided to finally invest that money in my hair. So I booked an appointment with Christo thanks to your web side reviews and it was the best decision I could have made for myself. He spent a lot of time consulting with me about my hair texture and what cut would work best for my face shape. He told me what I have been doing wrong with my hair for all these years that has been causing the dryness and the frizz; then he gave me tips on how to style my hair and do the treatment at home. I was just amazed when I looked in the mirror before I left the salon. A visit with Christo is a true experience. Finally my hair looks just as good as my wardrobe!!!!

Let me tell you having curly hair is been difficult deal in with my style christo spend 15 min just explain to me dos and don't s and how he will cut it so I will have easy time styling my curls .
By the time he finish my curls looked amazing no frizz no dryness just shine and definition is by far the best cut ever had in my life .
Also gave me a styling lesson and let me try to style my own so i can follow up at home.

went to christo for a bio softener. First of all, the salon is gorgeous, christo very knowledgeable and everyone is very friendly and helpful. My hair has never looked better. He is a genius. She goes over everything before she touches your hair to make sure that you are comfortable.He also gives you a mini style lesson so that you can recreate your new look at home. I have never been so in love with my curls! Before I went there I had the worst hair cut on the planet but after christo was finished with me my hair looked gorgeous- words cant describe. I haven't felt as beautiful as I feel now since I went natural six months ago and it definitely feels good to feel attractive again! The Bio Softener is the best of both worlds. You get to keep your curls but they are made looser and less frizzy. It's great! Rosa is great!!! I went to her 3 years ago to get my hair cut shorter for my senior pictures and my hair cut was amazing. I went back to her this summer and she worked her magic again! The cut was perfect and she took a lot of the bulkiness in the center. I am a 3B/3C and she hooked me up! DEFINITELY worth the money. I had a haircut with Tameeka yesterday. I was somewhat anxious about getting my hair cut as I'd only been getting trims for the last two years. I also have at least four different textures on my head (left side-loose waves, right side-curlier and thicker, top back-even curlier and very highly porous, nape hair-baby fine hair that is almost straight). My hair was a little longer than BSL and one length. I'd had the Ouidad cut on multiple occasions, but didn't like having one length or "flat" hair. I like my hair big. I also wanted to retain as much length as possible, but knew I needed a trim and my perimeter evened out (I'd been conducting search and destroys for months). I also wanted some face framing layers and layers in the back that would "round" my hair out and reduce/eliminate the mushroom (hat and stalk) effect with which I have always struggled due to the tight curls on top of the barely wavy nape hair. When I tell you I walked out with everything that I wanted, I am not kidding you!!! Every question I had, Tameeka answered. I thought I already knew a lot about using products, but she taught me applications methods with which I wasn't the least familiar. Tameeka was amazing and the salon was great. Even though it is on Fifth Ave in NYC, it wasn't the slightest bit pretentious!! It was actually cozy and comfortable!! I will definitely be going back to Tameeka when it's time to cut again. It is so hard to find someone you trust with your curly hair and I am so happy to know that I've finally found that person!! My avatar pic is my hair after the cut. LOVE it and can't wait to style it myself and with a few homemade concoctions I've found on NC.com (flax seed gel) and youtube (kimmaytube's pH balanced leave-in recipe with some ingredient modifications).

I can NOT say enough about how wonderful Tameeka is. She is so patient and so knowledgable about curls. My daughter is 7 years old and we live in Virginia. We have searched high and low for someone who knows what they are doing with her hair (she is bi-racial and has extremely curly hair). We drove to NYC to see Tameeka based on reviews I had read. She was so incredibly kind and really really took her time to talk through my daughters hair and what products work best and what techniques work best. She also talked to my daughter on her level, she didn't just ignore her like previous stylists did. She shared all sorts of tips with me to get the same results at home etc and I have (thought my version doesn't last as long but I will figure that part out on my next visit) I have NO problem at all driving to NYC to see Tameeka again. She has also made herself available to me since we saw her in person - she is just amazing. My daughter of course "hates" her hair but since Tameeka has very similar hair she really gave my daughter a pep talk about loving her hair and how she should pay attention to all the models and people walking around NYC they all either try to have hair like hers or they do have her hair and they embrace it. Hearing this from someone like Tameeka (very genuine) sealed the deal for my little girl, she now "likes" her hair and doesn't ask me to straighten it anymore. I will take it! I am sure as she continues to see Tameeka, she will continue to embrace her curls and eventually love them! You can not go wrong making an appointment with her, she is truly talented and is extremely sweet and just an all around genuine person!

Having curly hair has ALWAYS been a challenge and finding a good hairstylist seemed impossible until recently. I had been going to the same stylist for years and that's only because she did a decent job and I wanted to avoid a potential disaster b/c few ppl truly know how to deal with curly hair. My girlfriend forwarded me an email from her salon on Fifth Avenue. I checked out the website and decided to call for an appointment.
I asked for the best (Christo). I was then told his price ($395) and told them that I would call back after looking at my schedule. I weighed the pros, the cons and my check book :) and finally agreed to go for it. I wasn't taking a risk, i was investing in my personal beauty.
Christo was great. He educated me on my hair, consulted me on my expectations and was making me comfortable in no time. I left the salon feeling like a million bucks and will be back.

I booked a haircut with Sara because of the great reviews.
I'm sad to say that the cut didn't work for me. While Sara was very nice and friendly (and yes, gave a fantastic scalp massage!), I walked out of there knowing something wasn't right.
I confirmed my suspicions when I came home to find I had a really obviously awkward haircut. The layers didn't work and months later I am still growing them out. I bought the products and do my hair the Christo way and on some days it looks ok but ultimately, my hair is one length when you look at me from the front and a completely different length when I turn around.
When I was getting the cut Sara told me the layers would "blend" and I wouldn't notice the differing lengths but that is not the case. My hair is a mess. I HATE it and wish my hair would grow faster so I can get it "fixed."
I appreciate that the salon is dedicated to curls and they certainly make you feel good but a bad haircut is a bad haircut.
I don't know how Sara's hair looks every other day but when I saw her she was having a bad hair day (that should have been a tip off for me!).

I always thought I had straight but frizzy hair and was frustrated because I always had to wear my hair back. Then, I happened to strike up a conversation w/ Sara one day while out and about in the city. I heard she was a senior stylist at a high end salon and as I talked to her about my hair troubles ( God bless her!) , she stated she suspected that I may actually have curly hair, which was a surprise to me. At her suggestion, I made and appt to see her at Christo Fifth Ave , and what she worked was nothing less than magic on my hair! I got my hair washed and conditioned ( including an AMAZING scalp massage) , and then she sat w/ me and showed me that my hair was indeed slightly curly! She patiently explained to me what I had been doing wrong in the past, and showed me how to use hair products and simple techniques to both enhance the natural curl in my hair or blow dry it straight if I wished. She then proceeded to give me one of the cutest and versatile haircuts of my life! It looks amazing both straight and curly! So if you have problem hair, I highly recommend you try Christo Fifth Ave and ask for Sara. The haircuts are a bit pricey, ranging from $95- $150+, but you definitely get what you pay for; these people know their stuff!

I have finally found a salon that knows curly hair and a stylist that knows exactly what to do with mine!! Alice did an amazing job. From start to finish, the whole experience was wonderful. She knows just how to cut my hair (3b), what products to use (I highly recommend the Christo Structure Lotion), and how to style it. Before visiting Christo's I had never actually left a salon with a big smile on my face. In fact, after every previous visit to a salon I would immediately go home, wash my hair again, and style it as it should be styled. But Alice did it perfectly.
The place is a little pricey (but typical for higher end NYC salons), but TOTALLY worth it.

I was recently researching salons in New York City when one of my coworkers suggested I go for a consultation at Christo Fifth Avenue. I booked my appointment with Alice not knowing what to expect; what I received was a pleasant surprise. I'm used to stylists rushing my appointment to service their other clients but my experience with Alice was much different! She was so very diligent and detail-oriented; she checked over the cut several times. She colored my hair and gave me the most natural highlights and lowlights. The next day I had an event to attend and everyone asked if the color was my natural hair color. Not only was the color perfect but the cut was sharp and clean. I've gotten my hair cut and styled into a bob, but when Alice cut it this time the angling was so sharp and dramatic. I can easily roll out of the bed in the morning and just blow dry the style into place. My hair is very low maintenance now and I don't have to worry about spending hours in the morning making it look refined. I'm so happy I took my coworker's advice and am sure I'll be back soon to see Alice!

If you have curly hair, do yourself a favor and try out Christo's! I have been going to Christo 5th Avenue for over a year now. Never in my life has anyone ever cut my hair as beautifully as Slava. He is a true curl expert! My curls used to get weighed down by the cut and just frizz - or my hair would get so bulky I would just keep it in a bun or pony tail. But for the last year I have had great curls. Slava also colors my hair and the color is the best I have ever had. It brings out my fair skin and blue eyes. I consistently get compliments at work, from relatives, and even when I am on vacation I have had strangers comment on my cut and color. I first went to Christo's just for a consultation. I was a little intimidated to go to a NYC salon on 5th avenue, but everyone is so gracious and welcoming. I remember also how excited Slava was to makeover my look, he really loves what he does. After a few months I got the hang of the Christo hair products Slava showed me how to use. I wash my hair, use leave in conditioner, then mix a little gel and lotion in my hand, use my fingers to comb it through my hair, blow dry and viola - I have a great head of bouncy curls. It sounds corny, but when I look in the mirror I am so pleased with my look I always have to smile and think "thank you" to Slava.

He took a good look at what we were working with and gave me a very educational consultation. At the end of that first visit I could have just hugged him! I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe what a fantastic job he did with what he had to work with. Before I left I made sure to schedule my next visit and he gave me a couple of recommendations to make my next visit even more successful than the first. I can't speak well enough about Christo and I highly recommend going to him once because after that first visit you won't want to go anywhere else.

It's taken me forever to find a place in NYC I want to return to, but at last my searching has ended! If you're looking for someone to expertly work with your hair type, personal taste, and styling needs, Christo is your man. He took the time and consideration to give a cut that worked for me and was meticulous about the execution. I have fine hair and too many times stylists didn't take that or my more classic tastes into consideration, razoring wispy layers or giving me a style I didn't ask for - I believe in an attempt to disguise their lack of technical experience. Christo is amazing with the scissors and I got exactly what I requested - a chic, sophisticated cut that totally suits my hair type and style I was going for. He also did my color and it looks rich and shiny and absolutely perfect. A true professional, a great location, and friendly staff, what more could you want?!

This is my first ever review but I have to let you know about Christo. He has been doing my hair for the past few months and has always exceeded my expectations. For the past few years I have been bored with my hair but also cautious to do too much to change it. The problem are: the color wasn't as bold as I wanted plus I didn't know what I wanted. Since Christo has been recommending his own line, I have been able to do so much more with my hair. Christo also colored my hair and it was perfect, again. WOW, when he was finished I looked fabulous. He captured what I have been looking for all these past years!!! I have needed him for a long time. Before I always thought that it was impossible to find an acceptable salon in NY, and thus, I resorted to cutting my own hair before letting someone else do it. Christo Fifth Avenue has been the answer to my prayers. Everyone is friendly and willing to assist you the second you walk in the door. I always make my appointments spontaneously, and they are consistently accommodating. Christo himself is my stylist and his precision and eye for detail are highly polished. My hair texture is kind of mixed. To have a good hair cut is always my dream. Recently, I had my done in Christo 5th Ave. in NY. This place is awesome. Excellent atmosphere and friendliness as well as personalization of service. Christo was very informative and patient and did exactly what I asked for while maintaining his professional judgment. My hair is very difficult to deal with but he took the extra time and care to cut it properly and made sure he was doing what I wanted. Really friendly and laid-back, and totally professional. I am picky and am soooo pleased. Compared to the rubbish haircuts I have gotten before, this was a great deal. Absolutely recommend them to everyone!

I just went and had my hair done yesterday. Im so happy with the end result. I did the biosoftening with the deep treatment and I had a haircut. My hair was very curly and damaged. I feel like a new person. Tameeka is so patient and she listens to you (finally someone who cares about what you want) and she explains everything to you. She spent about 40 min just for the consultation. She showed me exactly how to style my hair and she wrote it down for me in detail. I ended up buying all the products she recommended because I was so happy with the end result. My hair is still curly but not the tight spirals I used to have, its a lighter curl. Plus when you soften up the curl your hair gets that much longer. They tell you if you are having trouble styling your hair you can come back anytime for help. They even sent me an email with links to videos to show you how to style your hair Be prepared however, to spend a lot. For me it was so worth it. I keep asking myself why I waited this long to go to Christo! I will recommend Christo to all my friends.

Alice made me love my hair. for the first time in 27 years, I embraced my curls! Now, I ONLY go to Alice. Even when I moved out of New York, I would fly back to NY regularly just to make sure Alice was the only person who touched my hair. She is AMAZING. She's always positive and upbeat and she ACTUALLY LISTENS to what you want. How many of us have had to deal with hairdresseres that do whatever they want and don't care what you have to say about it? That will never happen with Alice. She's the best!

I have very curly and thin hair (3b - I think). Dry it looks volumnous; wet you can see and feel how thin it is. I wore it somewhat long 10 years ago, and I want to return to that style. I spent months growing out my hair (particularly the side bangs), so that a good curly hairstylist could give it a good cut and it could continue to grow into a longer good look.
The service @ Christo is great. Nice welcome. Warm environment.
No luck for me with Slava. He didn't read my hair at all. I think he went into formula curly haircut number whatever. He recut everything I had just grown out, and left thin length that looked stringy and thin without the volume of the hair he had just cut. He used too much product for my hair - leaving it crunchy and unnatural. It looked terrible when I left, and it has been a cut to manage in the weeks after (you know, sometimes you go home, wash your hair, and it turns out it's a good cut but you just didn't like the styling).
Michael did a good job with my color and highlights. It was a little blonder than I would have liked.
I did buy some products and have found they can work for me if I don't use as much as Slava. He's a nice guy, but not for my head of hair.

Alice gave me the best haircut I have ever had in my life and I've tried most of the famous salons in NYC. We had a very relaxed and informative discussion before she did anything. She understood about the different types of curls and gently made suggestions about what would look best on me. It was unhurried and there was absolutely no pressure at all to try products or do anything I wasn't totally in favor of. I have received many compliments on my hair since the cut and it is much easier to style. It's never looked this good and I'm so happy with it.
Everyone in the salon was cordial, professional, and very attentive. A delightful experience all around.

I had a fabulous cut with Alice. I also had a great cut a couple of months ago from Christo, but since he is tres expensive, and I need to get my hair cut often, I decided to go to one of his stylists. He recommended Alice.
From start to finish it's A plus. Lovely service, but more important, absolutely terrific cut. She is first rate. Christo's salon offers free seminars which are helpful in deciding whether to get a cut there. I've been to Ouidad and Bumble and Bumble. Alice at Christo's was so much better.

I've tried a lot of salons and wanted to see what Christo was like, so I made an appointment with Tameeka. While she was very nice, I have to say, that it was probably one of the worst cuts I've ever had. I actually asked her to blow it out -- which I never do -- so I could walk down the street. I then had to keep blowing it out until my next haircut, which was with someone else whom I trust. A friend, however, was there with Tameeka, and had a great haircut. I think Tameeka's probably best with Type 4 hair (African American).

This talented stylist did an amazing job on my hair. I read up all the reviews before-hand so I was expecting her to be good and I'm glad to say I wasn't dissapointed. I made the trip to NYC to see family and I just couldn't miss the opportunity to get my hair done at the same time. I have never been able to get defined curls without having to manually twist them into shape, which is a major chore as my hair is so thick. With Curlisto products I don't need to do any of that ever again. The products are amazing, they make the hair feel soft, not at all hard or cakey.. and when you get your hair done there you get a complimentary training session on how to use all the products yourself from start to finish so you know how to get the same effect at home. I also got a few highlights put in by Michael, he did a wonderful job and he is too sweet. He consulted me very well, he listened and made sure he understood exactly what I wanted. I will definately be returning to NY for more of the same.

By referral,I had my color corrected by Michael at Christo's. I had been highlighting my hair for the last two years and it was completely blonde and washed out. Not to mention dry and frizzy. I am getting married in a month and a half so I was a bit nervous about a change. However, after a more than thorough consultation with Michael and after him suggesting a few things we began. Michael gave me a face framing highlight and colored the rest of my hair a deep chocolate brown!! The highlights were a beautiful caramel blond and shimmered though my curls. The end result was unbelievable. I couldnt have been happier and my fiance' loved the change. Michael gave the best color I have ever had. Christo's is the salon for color!!

After reading all of the glowing reviews about what a life-changing experience Christo's was, I decided to give it a shot while visiting NY. $367 later, I can't say that I was wowed. Slavo definitely spent a lot of time with me, he recommended a treatment for frizz that was $250 which I wasn't comfortable with (the cut alone was $135) so we did a deep conditioning treatment for $150. Now, I know I'm from Atlanta so things are a little different down here - a really expensive cut is maybe $75-80, and that's super pricey. so I was having a little bit of sticker shock...but I was expecting an amazing outcome, so I was okay with it. Well, my hair did look very nice when I left the salon, but I tried to explain to him that I have two kids under the age of 4, and not a lot of time to do my hair. He said my only option was the process he was showing me, which takes about 25 minutes. Anyway, like I said, my hair looked very nice - the curls looked beautiful, and had a lot of movement, but it wasn't earth-shattering. My husband actually asked me when I saw him if I had even had it cut. And when I tried to do the style myself, even with all the products and techniques, my hair basically looked like a slightly upgraded version of what I had started with. My hair is medium curly, and it's not so completely out of control, so I think that maybe if you have more unmanageable hair, you will notice a much more dramatic difference. I had a nice experience, and Slavo was a lot of fun. The salon is beautiful, but VERY pricey, so just be prepared.

My experience with Slava at Christo's salon was truly incredible. I first visited the salon for a "curly hair seminar," and was intrigued by the styling process and products that were described at the event. After reading reviews on this site, I made an appointment with Slava, and was eager to see how he would cut and style my hair. Slava was kind and attentive from the moment we met, and took a great deal of time to study my curls. Slava patiently listened to my curly-hair obstacles, and then offered his advice for a haircut and treatment. I made it clear to Slava that I didn't want to take a lot off the length, and Slava was willingly to listen. He walked me through a cut that included artistic layers and flattering angles, and then proceeded to provide detailed lessons for styling my hair. Slava was never pushy about selling the Curlisto products, however once I saw how shiny and soft my hair was, I willingly purchased some of his recommendations.
I was truly amazed by the service at Christo - Slava dedicated nearly an hour and a half to studying, cutting, and styling my hair, without handing me off to assistants. I truly felt that he understood my hair texture, and provided valuable styling tips. I keep getting compliments on his cut, and I will happily return to him in a few months.
I wholeheartedly recommend Slava for a wonderful haircut and curly hair experience!

My friend in NYC took me to Christo fifth Ave. salon over the weekend. The whole experience was amazing. My stylist was Rosa and I have to say I have never had a good stylist in m life. She consulted with me and not only she pointed out all the problems I have but also came up with the solutions. I walked out with my hair looking phenomenal. She gave me the most amazing cut and did an anti-frizz treatment on my hair. My hair has never felt this soft and frizzles. Now I have all the reasons to come to NYC more frequently. It would be better if I can take Rosa with me to Florida.

I was so excited to finally visit Christo's salon after having to wait 6 weeks just to see Christo himself. After the cut and color he gave me, i truly understand how important it is to have a style that fits my lifestyle. So now, no matter how long the wait is, it is worth it! He even styled my hair after he was done cutting and coloring it, not like how some other stylists who have their assistants finish their clients off. Christo is not only a stylist, but a true educator when it comes to curly hair. After he was done cutting my hair, he gave me a hair "prescription" and the thing i loved most was that i didn't feel any pressure to purchase his entire line of products (even though i purchased almost everything he prescribed!)

She was very knowledgable about hair in general,and she told me about deep conditioning and then gave me a special treatment in the salon. I have kinky curly hair, which I fell in love with about two years ago after growing out a relaxer. I have had difficulty finding a stylist that is willing to work with the hair that I have, enhancing it, instead of trying to change it into something else or taking the easy way out by twisting or braiding. Tameeka works with your hair to make it the best it can be. I thought I was in love before but I've found new appreciation for my hair thanks to Tameeka's expertise. This stylist also scheduled enough time to REALLY educate me on how to properly maintain that salon look. I decided to grow out my relaxer, and after a year and a half of having the new growth blown straight, I decided to cut the relaxed ends off. Tameeka was great, she decided not to cut it all off right away because I was used to having very long hair, and since I was having a baby, she suggested I needed it long enough to put in a ponytail. So she cut most of it back, conditioned my hair and made it so easy for me to deal with my new curls. Another 8 months later, she cut off the rest of the permed ends, and now I'm curly forever and LOVING it. The cut is fantastic, always looks great, is so easy to deal with. I can't believe I waited this long to grow out my relaxer.

Since going to Christo I have been transformed!!! Five years ago I had supershort brassy colored hair because no one could help me to style it. Now my once frizzy mess is a head of long, thick and well defined curls. I am amazed. People acutally stop me on the street to compliment my hair! Like most curly haired folk I was traumatized by years of bad hair cuts; so it took me a while to trust the process at Christo. First I learned to style my hair. Wow!! My regular stylist, Rosa, is no longer at Christo. I waited a long time before I went back because I was so nervous about trying a new stylist. Well, worry no more... Ivan saved the day. Ivan is so patient and friendly. I walked in with a mess of dry hair and he listened to me and my concerns. I told him I am extremely low maintenance and didn't want to spend hours on my hair. He told me don't worry,he will take care of it. WOW... he sure did. Gave me a trim and worked his magic with his scissors. Threw in some Structura Lotion and voila..... that was it. The front desk was super polite; took my jacket for coat check and offered me a beverage - a complimentary glass of wine! First, Alice gave me a complete thorough consultation - information and advice that I did not even know about my own hair! It was extremely helpful. I recently had a wonderful experience at Christo. It was more than i usually like to spend on a cut but with my regular stylist moving to an inconvenient location, I decided to finally break down make an appt at Christo which I'd heard great things about. My senior stylist Rosa was so knowledgable, attentive, and had such a meticulous approach to cutting my hair. I was really impressed and would definitely recommend her and the salon to anyone who's had to suffer through bad cookie cutter haircuts. It's definitely worth the price.

I came to Christo Fifth Ave after hearing about it from my mom. I decided to give it go with Ray for my prom night. He was very attentive to every detail and always had me in mind when coming up with the perfect hairstyle for my special night. I brought in my dress to show him and he made plenty of sketches of what to do to my hair before presenting me with his best idea. After many runs with horrible blow outs and up dos, I was nervous, but continued believing in him. It was the right choice because my hair came out beautiful! There was so much detail in my hair from the single braid in the center to the carefully woven locks held by bobby pins. He also did my make-up! I have a babyface, and to be honest, I was tired of the cutesy look. I didn't even need to tell him I was tired of it because he transformed me into someone with a mature-edge. Thanks Ray! Christo is an absolute doll! His methodology is truly something else! Stepping into the salon, I already knew this place was gonna be worth the bucks. I've been around here and there, trying to find my IT salon and I think I've found it! This man knows exactly what he's talking about. No hesitance, straight-forward, and very understanding. He heeded to my wishes of having it cut short, keeping it long in the back, and making it look good! By the way, even the products he used smelled nice - I had none of the chemical odor nonsense in my hair! Not only did I end up purchasing their shampoos and conditioner, but their bio gel mousse too! And I have to say, the mousse is one of the smartest things I bought for hair like mine! Thanks Christo! After countless of bad haircuts from stylists who claim to know curly hair, I decided to give it one last shot with Christo Fifth Avenue last week. It was the best decision I have ever made. The $495 that I spent (with Christo himself) was well worth it because no one has ever styled my hair the way this salon has. Christo spent a generous time getting know my hair and teaching my how to style it healthily. And you know what? The next day, my hair was still beautiful and glowing! I walked out of that salon looking like Angelina Jolie at the Oscars! I returned today for a blowout from Ray, who is an exceptional senior stylist. Not only did I find a salon to call my own, but it's a salon that truly understands what curly girls need! Thank you Christo for being so patient and giving me tips on what to do with my hair. I came to Christo, after countless bad haircuts, with dry, brittle, dull hair (which I used to straighten by pulling at the hair dryer) and it changed my (hair) life! Alice is not only knowledgeable and very caring, but she takes such pride in her work and interest in your hair. My hair is now healthy, shiny and -- under Alice's talented hands -- styled, using my naturally curly (3A) locks, in a manner that suits my face, my lifestyle (simple and easy) -- sort of). Everyone has complimented me on my "new look!" Christo 5th Avenue is a haven for curly hair girls. I have curly (type 3) hair which tends to have two volumes, big and bigger. My hairdresser is Rosa who listens, advices and ultimately gives me a beautiful cut and perfect curls. I am of spanish descent with thick curls and very often my experiences with downtown salons leave me disappointed because they either can't or dont know how to cut or style my hair. If you have experienced such disappointments in the past, please go see Rosa you wont be disappointed. Additionally, the salon is elegant yet low key, nobody is pushing products and everyone is friendly and customer oriented.

After the birth of both my daughters, I lost alot of hair and Alice cut and styled my hair in such a way that it minimized the awkwardness of my hair during this transitional phase. dont believe the hype.. first let me say, i'm 2 yrs natural and needed a trim, which normally i do myself with much success..my good friend has gone to tameeka and raved about her. So i took a chance. Tameeka is very educated when it comes to natural hair. i'm a 4a/4b and she had my curls defined. she cares more about the method of achieving defined curls then the products used. But my main purpose was to get a cut and her cut was horrible. my hair was SUPER short in the middle ( 2 inches ) and the front was very uneven- one side was noticable shorter then the other. and the back was super long 6+ inches. I normally wear my hair stretched so this haircut is definitely something I cant hide that well. I mentioned my experience to my good friend and she too had the same problem- uneven, botched hair cut.. she went to diane da costa who fixed her cut from tameeka. would i recommend tameeka- probably not, but i'm sure there are other stylists who will do a better job and not at the price her salon charges ($130)..damn 5th ave salons lol. now off to hide in some braids for a few months until i get my length back :( major setback in my hair goals.

This is my second time going to a professional stylist who can cut my hair in its natural state. I was adament about finding someone that would not have to straighten my hair first and then cut. My first experience left me with an uneasy feeling about going to professionals period for a cut and style. But after some research and reviewing many website reviews for Tameeka, I had to make an appointment. I had an awesome experience with her. She not only styled my hair and shaped it perfectly, she took the time to educated me about my hair type and how to care for it going forward, even going into the complexities of how much product my hair needs at various points of my hair, as it's SUPER DUPER THICK (especially no top) and I've been struggling with maintaining consistent styling because I have multiple curl types on my head. I took her advice on how to acheive the same look through self styling. I left the solon to recieve multiple compliments as I walked home. She is a down to earth lady, who is a great communicator and a GEM of a stylist. I'll definitely be back to Christo's on Fifth just for her.

I am totally delighted with my new cut from Alice at Christo's salon in NYC. I had been to her years ago and that cut was good, but this is sensational. I think the difference is that my hair is in much better condition since I have learned so much at nc.com. I highly recommend Alice to everyone. I've been to others at Christo and for a while I was going to Mark at the Frederik Fekkai salon, but nothing compares to this. She got my curls to have volume on top with perfect layering which was exactly what I wanted. She took my face shape into account. This is really A+++. The salon is lovely, specializing in curly cuts. The hair was cut wet, but I like this cut better than the 2 I got at Devachan because it falls evenly. It's a really cute, short, sassy cut - perfect and just what I wanted! I was treated in a gracious manner and served iced lime water since it was broiling outside and later hot coffee (since I'm an addict regardless of the temperature). Anyone who has any questions, please feel free to pm me. The cut was $155 (worth it!) and she spent a long, unhurried time showing me how to do it. I don't follow her instructions at home and yet my hair looks great. Nothing works like a great cut. Thank you Alice!!!

I was so excited when I first arrived at christo fifth avenue salon because that was my decision and christo was going to be my stylist. After 20 min. of consultation, drawing, and designing my new look, he started his magic work and 2 hours later, there was a whole new me with beautiful curls. My red color was shiny for the first time in my life. I guess it makes a difference when you go to someone who is a legend of the knowledge of curly hair. It was the first time I walked out of a salon without crying about someone who damaged my curls. He was so nice and he gave me a prescription of how to use his Curlisto products without pushing me to buy anything. Now i went to christo fifth avenue christo made my hair look wonderful and they looked naturally curly without frizziness. I bought some products and he told me how style my hair at home using the curlisto products at home by myself. Alice was great. I went to her after reading Christo reviews online...I was debating between Ouidad and Christo 5th Ave and on a hunch, chose to go with Christo. My hair seems to have lost some umph since I was hit with a 10-day tropical bug. I've been really anxious - my curls seemed limp, my hair thinner. Alice helped me understand that these effects may be irreversible, and while I'm not giving up, she revived what I do have! Beyond that, Alice is clearly very knowledgable, and truly cares about helping curlies stay happy and healthy. She's also really easy to talk to. The woman who washed my hair gave me a fantastic head massage -- twice. To top it all off, Alice wrote me a letter with her tips and her styling suggestions so that I can recreate her work on my own. I haven't exactly recreated the look at home, but I'm pretty happy with what I am able to do. (I'm used to low-maintenance styling...) As for the product line, I find that while the hold is good and strong, my hair feels rather stiff. I am going to keep trying the Curlisto, Ouidad and a combination of the two until I find what works best with my 3b/a head!

Tameeka is awesome. I travel all the way from CT every 6 months to get my hair cut and styled by her. She knows exactly how to make my hair look the best and I always get tons of complements when she's through!! I have tight curls and she's an expert at cutting and coloring them in a way that highlights my unique curl pattern and texture. I will continue to travel because to me it's totally worth it. My hair is super long now ever since I went to her for my first BC ( big chop)... all stretched out my hair is now down to my lower back. The Curlisto product line is also fabulous! it leaves your curls defined but soft and shiny. The salon itself is a pampering experience for any curly head, you'll feel like a queen and the staff is so nice and attentive. Gotta love it!!!

I usually only save up 400 dollar for a pair of nice shoes or a handbag. I never thought of spending that much for a haircut. Not only but i went all out got my coils hi-lite-ted for 380 But after experiencing bad haircuts over last 6 years , I decided to finally invest that money in my hair. ok i try a lot of stylist in new york and I was get in to the point ether shave my head or spend some more money to see this stylist name christo I herd was the king of curls and his celebrity's fave . Let me tell you having curly hair is been difficult deal in with my style christo spend 15 min just explain to me dos and don't s and how he will cut it so I will have easy time styling my curls . By the time he finish my curls looked amazing no frizz no dryness just shine and definition is by far the best cut ever had in my life . Also gave me a styling lesson and let me try to style my own so i can follow up at home. so far I'm loving my curls ,so thank you christo!

went to christo for a bio softener. First of all, the salon is gorgeous, christo very knowledgeable and everyone is very friendly and helpful. My hair has never looked better. He is a genius. She goes over everything before she touches your hair to make sure that you are comfortable.He also gives you a mini style lesson so that you can recreate your new look at home. I have never been so in love with my curls! Before I went there I had the worst hair cut on the planet but after christo was finished with me my hair looked gorgeous- words cant describe. I haven't felt as beautiful as I feel now since I went natural six months ago and it definitely feels good to feel attractive again! The Bio Softener is the best of both worlds. You get to keep your curls but they are made looser and less frizzy. It's great! So head over the christo and book an appointment with him- also gave me spacial formula to take care my hair his product is life saving

Rosa is great!!! I went to her 3 years ago to get my hair cut shorter for my senior pictures and my hair cut was amazing. I went back to her this summer and she worked her magic again! The cut was perfect and she took a lot of the bulkiness in the center. I am a 3B/3C and she hooked me up! DEFINITELY worth the money. I've tried other salons for different things (blow outs, small trims, etc.) which work for the most part, but cutting curly hair is no joke. Thank you Rosa!!!

I had a haircut with Tameeka yesterday. I was somewhat anxious about getting my hair cut as I'd only been getting trims for the last two years. I also have at least four different textures on my head (left side-loose waves, right side-curlier and thicker, top back-even curlier and very highly porous, nape hair-baby fine hair that is almost straight). My hair was a little longer than BSL and one length. I'd had the Ouidad cut on multiple occasions, but didn't like having one length or "flat" hair. I like my hair big. I also wanted to retain as much length as possible, but knew I needed a trim and my perimeter evened out (I'd been conducting search and destroys for months). I also wanted some face framing layers and layers in the back that would "round" my hair out and reduce/eliminate the mushroom (hat and stalk) effect with which I have always struggled due to the tight curls on top of the barely wavy nape hair. When I tell you I walked out with everything that I wanted, I am not kidding you!!! Every question I had, Tameeka answered. I thought I already knew a lot about using products, but she taught me applications methods with which I wasn't the least familiar. Tameeka was amazing and the salon was great. Even though it is on Fifth Ave in NYC, it wasn't the slightest bit pretentious!! It was actually cozy and comfortable!! I will definitely be going back to Tameeka when it's time to cut again. It is so hard to find someone you trust with your curly hair and I am so happy to know that I've finally found that person!! My avatar pic is my hair after the cut. LOVE it and can't wait to style it myself and with a few homemade concoctions I've found on NC.com (flax seed gel) and youtube (kimmaytube's pH balanced leave-in recipe with some ingredient modifications).

I can NOT say enough about how wonderful Tameeka is. She is so patient and so knowledgable about curls. My daughter is 7 years old and we live in Virginia. We have searched high and low for someone who knows what they are doing with her hair (she is bi-racial and has extremely curly hair). We drove to NYC to see Tameeka based on reviews I had read. She was so incredibly kind and really really took her time to talk through my daughters hair and what products work best and what techniques work best. She also talked to my daughter on her level, she didn't just ignore her like previous stylists did. She shared all sorts of tips with me to get the same results at home etc and I have (thought my version doesn't last as long but I will figure that part out on my next visit) I have NO problem at all driving to NYC to see Tameeka again. She has also made herself available to me since we saw her in person - she is just amazing. My daughter of course "hates" her hair but since Tameeka has very similar hair she really gave my daughter a pep talk about loving her hair and how she should pay attention to all the models and people walking around NYC they all either try to have hair like hers or they do have her hair and they embrace it. Hearing this from someone like Tameeka (very genuine) sealed the deal for my little girl, she now "likes" her hair and doesn't ask me to straighten it anymore. I will take it! I am sure as she continues to see Tameeka, she will continue to embrace her curls and eventually love them! You can not go wrong making an appointment with her, she is truly talented and is extremely sweet and just an all around genuine person!

Having curly hair has ALWAYS been a challenge and finding a good hairstylist seemed impossible until recently. I had been going to the same stylist for years and that's only because she did a decent job and I wanted to avoid a potential disaster b/c few ppl truly know how to deal with curly hair. My girlfriend forwarded me an email from her salon on Fifth Avenue. I checked out the website and decided to call for an appointment. I asked for the best (Christo). I was then told his price ($395) and told them that I would call back after looking at my schedule. I weighed the pros, the cons and my check book :) and finally agreed to go for it. I wasn't taking a risk, i was investing in my personal beauty. Christo was great. He educated me on my hair, consulted me on my expectations and was making me comfortable in no time. I left the salon feeling like a million bucks and will be back.

I booked a haircut with Sara because of the great reviews. I'm sad to say that the cut didn't work for me. While Sara was very nice and friendly (and yes, gave a fantastic scalp massage!), I walked out of there knowing something wasn't right. I confirmed my suspicions when I came home to find I had a really obviously awkward haircut. The layers didn't work and months later I am still growing them out. I bought the products and do my hair the Christo way and on some days it looks ok but ultimately, my hair is one length when you look at me from the front and a completely different length when I turn around. When I was getting the cut Sara told me the layers would "blend" and I wouldn't notice the differing lengths but that is not the case. My hair is a mess. I HATE it and wish my hair would grow faster so I can get it "fixed." I appreciate that the salon is dedicated to curls and they certainly make you feel good but a bad haircut is a bad haircut. I don't know how Sara's hair looks every other day but when I saw her she was having a bad hair day (that should have been a tip off for me!).

I always thought I had straight but frizzy hair and was frustrated because I always had to wear my hair back. Then, I happened to strike up a conversation w/ Sara one day while out and about in the city. I heard she was a senior stylist at a high end salon and as I talked to her about my hair troubles ( God bless her!) , she stated she suspected that I may actually have curly hair, which was a surprise to me. At her suggestion, I made and appt to see her at Christo Fifth Ave , and what she worked was nothing less than magic on my hair! I got my hair washed and conditioned ( including an AMAZING scalp massage) , and then she sat w/ me and showed me that my hair was indeed slightly curly! She patiently explained to me what I had been doing wrong in the past, and showed me how to use hair products and simple techniques to both enhance the natural curl in my hair or blow dry it straight if I wished. She then proceeded to give me one of the cutest and versatile haircuts of my life! It looks amazing both straight and curly! So if you have problem hair, I highly recommend you try Christo Fifth Ave and ask for Sara. The haircuts are a bit pricey, ranging from $95- $150+, but you definitely get what you pay for; these people know their stuff!

I have finally found a salon that knows curly hair and a stylist that knows exactly what to do with mine!! Alice did an amazing job. From start to finish, the whole experience was wonderful. She knows just how to cut my hair (3b), what products to use (I highly recommend the Christo Structure Lotion), and how to style it. Before visiting Christo's I had never actually left a salon with a big smile on my face. In fact, after every previous visit to a salon I would immediately go home, wash my hair again, and style it as it should be styled. But Alice did it perfectly. The place is a little pricey (but typical for higher end NYC salons), but TOTALLY worth it. I love Alice!!

I was recently researching salons in New York City when one of my coworkers suggested I go for a consultation at Christo Fifth Avenue. I booked my appointment with Alice not knowing what to expect; what I received was a pleasant surprise. I'm used to stylists rushing my appointment to service their other clients but my experience with Alice was much different! She was so very diligent and detail-oriented; she checked over the cut several times. She colored my hair and gave me the most natural highlights and lowlights. The next day I had an event to attend and everyone asked if the color was my natural hair color. Not only was the color perfect but the cut was sharp and clean. I've gotten my hair cut and styled into a bob, but when Alice cut it this time the angling was so sharp and dramatic. I can easily roll out of the bed in the morning and just blow dry the style into place. My hair is very low maintenance now and I don't have to worry about spending hours in the morning making it look refined. I'm so happy I took my coworker's advice and am sure I'll be back soon to see Alice!

If you have curly hair, do yourself a favor and try out Christo's! I have been going to Christo 5th Avenue for over a year now. Never in my life has anyone ever cut my hair as beautifully as Slava. He is a true curl expert! My curls used to get weighed down by the cut and just frizz - or my hair would get so bulky I would just keep it in a bun or pony tail. But for the last year I have had great curls. Slava also colors my hair and the color is the best I have ever had. It brings out my fair skin and blue eyes. I consistently get compliments at work, from relatives, and even when I am on vacation I have had strangers comment on my cut and color. I first went to Christo's just for a consultation. I was a little intimidated to go to a NYC salon on 5th avenue, but everyone is so gracious and welcoming. I remember also how excited Slava was to makeover my look, he really loves what he does. After a few months I got the hang of the Christo hair products Slava showed me how to use. I wash my hair, use leave in conditioner, then mix a little gel and lotion in my hand, use my fingers to comb it through my hair, blow dry and viola - I have a great head of bouncy curls. It sounds corny, but when I look in the mirror I am so pleased with my look I always have to smile and think "thank you" to Slava.

Like so many other people I have gone through my fair share of hair cutting, always looking for the one person that would "get it right". Well, after many years of searching I have finally found that person, Christo. After many botched attempts by other so-called "experts", my curls were a real mess and in much need of serious TLC. After reading the other reviews about Christo, I decided to give it a shot and see if there was anything that he could do for me. My first visit with him was great! He took a good look at what we were working with and gave me a very educational consultation. At the end of that first visit I could have just hugged him! I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe what a fantastic job he did with what he had to work with. Before I left I made sure to schedule my next visit and he gave me a couple of recommendations to make my next visit even more successful than the first. It's taken me forever to find a place in NYC I want to return to, but at last my searching has ended! If you're looking for someone to expertly work with your hair type, personal taste, and styling needs, Christo is your man. He took the time and consideration to give a cut that worked for me and was meticulous about the execution. I have fine hair and too many times stylists didn't take that or my more classic tastes into consideration, razoring wispy layers or giving me a style I didn't ask for - I believe in an attempt to disguise their lack of technical experience. Christo is amazing with the scissors and I got exactly what I requested - a chic, sophisticated cut that totally suits my hair type and style I was going for. This is my first ever review but I have to let you know about Christo. He has been doing my hair for the past few months and has always exceeded my expectations. For the past few years I have been bored with my hair but also cautious to do too much to change it. The problem are: the color wasn't as bold as I wanted plus I didn't know what I wanted. Since Christo has been recommending his own line, I have been able to do so much more with my hair. Christo also colored my hair and it was perfect, again. Before I always thought that it was impossible to find an acceptable salon in NY, and thus, I resorted to cutting my own hair before letting someone else do it. Christo Fifth Avenue has been the answer to my prayers. Everyone is friendly and willing to assist you the second you walk in the door. I always make my appointments spontaneously, and they are consistently accommodating. Christo himself is my stylist and his precision and eye for detail are highly polished. I just went and had my hair done yesterday. Im so happy with the end result. I did the biosoftening with the deep treatment and I had a haircut. My hair was very curly and damaged. I feel like a new person. Tameeka is so patient and she listens to you (finally someone who cares about what you want) and she explains everything to you. She spent about 40 min just for the consultation. She showed me exactly how to style my hair and she wrote it down for me in detail. I ended up buying all the products she recommended because I was so happy with the end result. My hair is still curly but not the tight spirals I used to have, its a lighter curl. Plus when you soften up the curl your hair gets that much longer. They tell you if you are having trouble styling your hair you can come back anytime for help. They even sent me an email with links to videos to show you how to style your hair Be prepared however, to spend a lot. For me it was so worth it. I keep asking myself why I waited this long to go to Christo! I will recommend Christo to all my friends.

I've spent my whole life fighting my curly hair, trying to tame it, straighten it, make it into something that it's not. Alice made me love my hair. for the first time in 27 years, I embraced my curls! Now, I ONLY go to Alice. Even when I moved out of New York, I would fly back to NY regularly just to make sure Alice was the only person who touched my hair. She is AMAZING. I have very curly and thin hair (3b - I think). Dry it looks volumnous; wet you can see and feel how thin it is. I wore it somewhat long 10 years ago, and I want to return to that style. I spent months growing out my hair (particularly the side bangs), so that a good curly hairstylist could give it a good cut and it could continue to grow into a longer good look. The service @ Christo is great. Nice welcome. Warm environment. No luck for me with Slava. He didn't read my hair at all. I think he went into formula curly haircut number whatever. He recut everything I had just grown out, and left thin length that looked stringy and thin without the volume of the hair he had just cut. He used too much product for my hair - leaving it crunchy and unnatural. It looked terrible when I left, and it has been a cut to manage in the weeks after (you know, sometimes you go home, wash your hair, and it turns out it's a good cut but you just didn't like the styling). Michael did a good job with my color and highlights. It was a little blonder than I would have liked. I did buy some products and have found they can work for me if I don't use as much as Slava. He's a nice guy, but not for my head of hair.

Alice gave me the best haircut I have ever had in my life and I've tried most of the famous salons in NYC. We had a very relaxed and informative discussion before she did anything. She understood about the different types of curls and gently made suggestions about what would look best on me. It was unhurried and there was absolutely no pressure at all to try products or do anything I wasn't totally in favor of. I have received many compliments on my hair since the cut and it is much easier to style. It's never looked this good and I'm so happy with it. Everyone in the salon was cordial, professional, and very attentive. A delightful experience all around.

I had a fabulous cut with Alice. I also had a great cut a couple of months ago from Christo, but since he is tres expensive, and I need to get my hair cut often, I decided to go to one of his stylists. He recommended Alice. From start to finish it's A plus. Lovely service, but more important, absolutely terrific cut. She is first rate. Christo's salon offers free seminars which are helpful in deciding whether to get a cut there. I've been to Ouidad and Bumble and Bumble. Alice at Christo's was so much better.

I've tried a lot of salons and wanted to see what Christo was like, so I made an appointment with Tameeka. While she was very nice, I have to say, that it was probably one of the worst cuts I've ever had. I actually asked her to blow it out -- which I never do -- so I could walk down the street. I then had to keep blowing it out until my next haircut, which was with someone else whom I trust. A friend, however, was there with Tameeka, and had a great haircut. I think Tameeka's probably best with Type 4 hair (African American).

This talented stylist did an amazing job on my hair. I read up all the reviews before-hand so I was expecting her to be good and I'm glad to say I wasn't dissapointed. I made the trip to NYC to see family and I just couldn't miss the opportunity to get my hair done at the same time. I have never been able to get defined curls without having to manually twist them into shape, which is a major chore as my hair is so thick. With Curlisto products I don't need to do any of that ever again. The products are amazing, they make the hair feel soft, not at all hard or cakey.. and when you get your hair done there you get a complimentary training session on how to use all the products yourself from start to finish so you know how to get the same effect at home. I also got a few highlights put in by Michael, he did a wonderful job and he is too sweet. He consulted me very well, he listened and made sure he understood exactly what I wanted. I will definately be returning to NY for more of the same.

By referral,I had my color corrected by Michael at Christo's. I had been highlighting my hair for the last two years and it was completely blonde and washed out. Not to mention dry and frizzy. I am getting married in a month and a half so I was a bit nervous about a change. However, after a more than thorough consultation with Michael and after him suggesting a few things we began. Michael gave me a face framing highlight and colored the rest of my hair a deep chocolate brown!! The highlights were a beautiful caramel blond and shimmered though my curls. The end result was unbelievable. I couldnt have been happier and my fiance' loved the change. Michael gave the best color I have ever had. Christo's is the salon for color!!

After reading all of the glowing reviews about what a life-changing experience Christo's was, I decided to give it a shot while visiting NY. $367 later, I can't say that I was wowed. Slavo definitely spent a lot of time with me, he recommended a treatment for frizz that was $250 which I wasn't comfortable with (the cut alone was $135) so we did a deep conditioning treatment for $150. Now, I know I'm from Atlanta so things are a little different down here - a really expensive cut is maybe $75-80, and that's super pricey. so I was having a little bit of sticker shock...but I was expecting an amazing outcome, so I was okay with it. Well, my hair did look very nice when I left the salon, but I tried to explain to him that I have two kids under the age of 4, and not a lot of time to do my hair. He said my only option was the process he was showing me, which takes about 25 minutes. Anyway, like I said, my hair looked very nice - the curls looked beautiful, and had a lot of movement, but it wasn't earth-shattering. My husband actually asked me when I saw him if I had even had it cut. And when I tried to do the style myself, even with all the products and techniques, my hair basically looked like a slightly upgraded version of what I had started with. My hair is medium curly, and it's not so completely out of control, so I think that maybe if you have more unmanageable hair, you will notice a much more dramatic difference. I had a nice experience, and Slavo was a lot of fun. The salon is beautiful, but VERY pricey, so just be prepared.

My experience with Slava at Christo's salon was truly incredible. I first visited the salon for a "curly hair seminar," and was intrigued by the styling process and products that were described at the event. After reading reviews on this site, I made an appointment with Slava, and was eager to see how he would cut and style my hair. Slava was kind and attentive from the moment we met, and took a great deal of time to study my curls. Slava patiently listened to my curly-hair obstacles, and then offered his advice for a haircut and treatment. I made it clear to Slava that I didn't want to take a lot off the length, and Slava was willingly to listen. He walked me through a cut that included artistic layers and flattering angles, and then proceeded to provide detailed lessons for styling my hair. Slava was never pushy about selling the Curlisto products, however once I saw how shiny and soft my hair was, I willingly purchased some of his recommendations. I was truly amazed by the service at Christo - Slava dedicated nearly an hour and a half to studying, cutting, and styling my hair, without handing me off to assistants. I truly felt that he understood my hair texture, and provided valuable styling tips. I keep getting compliments on his cut, and I will happily return to him in a few months. I wholeheartedly recommend Slava for a wonderful haircut and curly hair experience!

My friend in NYC took me to Christo fifth Ave. salon over the weekend. The whole experience was amazing. My stylist was Rosa and I have to say I have never had a good stylist in m life. She consulted with me and not only she pointed out all the problems I have but also came up with the solutions. I walked out with my hair looking phenomenal. She gave me the most amazing cut and did an anti-frizz treatment on my hair. My hair has never felt this soft and frizzles. Now I have all the reasons to come to NYC more frequently. It would be better if I can take Rosa with me to Florida.

I was very please with my experience at Christo Fifth Avenue. My stylist Alice spent lots of time consulting with me to make sure my cut and the treatment will be just right for me. When I walked out of the salon, my hair looked fantastic. And even after 3 months my hair still looks amazing. I've been using the products at home and they have been a great help to bring my dry hair get back to shape. I am definitely going back.

I have always disliked my curly hair. It was often unruly and frizzy with no definition of the curls.Humid weather was a nightmare.After one visit with Christo my hair was completely transformed. Even in a torrential downpore my hair looks great.I now love my hair and am the envy of my curly haired friends.Christo not only gives a fantastic cut but he spends time teaching you how to style and care for your hair.His products are phenominal.Anyone who struggles with curly hair owes it to themselves to go to Christo. I was so excited to finally visit Christo's salon after having to wait 6 weeks just to see Christo himself. After the cut and color he gave me, i truly understand how important it is to have a style that fits my lifestyle. So now, no matter how long the wait is, it is worth it! He even styled my hair after he was done cutting and coloring it, not like how some other stylists who have their assistants finish their clients off. Christo is not only a stylist, but a true educator when it comes to curly hair. After he was done cutting my hair, he gave me a hair "prescription" and the thing i loved most was that i didn't feel any pressure to purchase his entire line of products (even though i purchased almost everything he prescribed!) Thank you, Christo! You changed my life -- my curls have never looked better!

I had visited the salon for my first visit. And I have to say it was an amazing visit, I had my hair done by a really educated young lady. She was very knowledgable about hair in general,and she told me about deep conditioning and then gave me a special treatment in the salon. Then she gave me what I beleive is the best haircut I ever had. I recently went back to my country and i have gotten so many compliments on my hair every one wants to know who did my hair and how can they get there hair to look the same and i said your gonna have to go to nyc and see rosa beacuse i dont think their is any one else who can do, what she did to my hair. I never looked better.

I have kinky curly hair, which I fell in love with about two years ago after growing out a relaxer. I have had difficulty finding a stylist that is willing to work with the hair that I have, enhancing it, instead of trying to change it into something else or taking the easy way out by twisting or braiding. Tameeka works with your hair to make it the best it can be. I thought I was in love before but I've found new appreciation for my hair thanks to Tameeka's expertise. This stylist also scheduled enough time to REALLY educate me on how to properly maintain that salon look. She made product recommendations but didn't force the issue (though I just had to have the products she used to work her magic). She's really phenomenal!

I decided to grow out my relaxer, and after a year and a half of having the new growth blown straight, I decided to cut the relaxed ends off. Tameeka was great, she decided not to cut it all off right away because I was used to having very long hair, and since I was having a baby, she suggested I needed it long enough to put in a ponytail. So she cut most of it back, conditioned my hair and made it so easy for me to deal with my new curls. Another 8 months later, she cut off the rest of the permed ends, and now I'm curly forever and LOVING it. The cut is fantastic, always looks great, is so easy to deal with. I can't believe I waited this long to grow out my relaxer.

In addition to giving me a great cut, Slava took alot of time to explain everything type of treatments, how the products work, etc. The products are great and everyone in the salon is warm and inviting. I was letting it grow for years but then I went from very long to quite short and everyone said it was very sophisticated and made me look younger that my chronological age. The cut was unusual with a short back and longer sides in the front. I felt very glamorous.

Tameeka is a treasure. For years I have struggled with bad haircuts because so many stylists do not know how to cut curly hair. I was truly traumatized until I found Tameeka. She is great with curly hair and knows how to cut it to suit your type of curl and your facial features. I've been going to Tameeka for years and followed her from Ouidad to Christo and if she shoud ever leave, I'll continue to follow her. A note about the salon -- it's FABULOUS -- everyone there is great, friendly and the scalp massage you get when they wash your hair is worth the trip alone. The salon is trendy yet, unlike others salons, not the least bit snobby. I love Tameeka and I love Christo Fifth Avenue and his products ROCK!

As a model, it's difficult to find a stylist and products to undo damage caused to my hair from the days and days of heat applied during photoshoots. Thank God for Tameeka. I grew out a relaxer and have 4B hair, and I can say truthfully that if not for her talents as a stylist with carving, slicing and styling. I would not so be such a faithful client. I followed her from her past salon, and I'll follow her wherever else she decides to work her magic.

I went to Christo, and my stylist Rosa was amazing. She took her time and explained everything I should do so that my hair would look as good as it did when I left the salon. The cut was great! Definitely the best I've ever had my hair has never been healthier. Shes very sweet and even gave me some samples of products. I haven't seen any reviews for her on this site so I had to be the first, she deserves the credit!!!!!!

Since going to Christo I have been transformed!!! Five years ago I had supershort brassy colored hair because no one could help me to style it. Now my once frizzy mess is a head of long, thick and well defined curls. I am amazed. People acutally stop me on the street to compliment my hair! Like most curly haired folk I was traumatized by years of bad hair cuts; so it took me a while to trust the process at Christo. First I learned to style my hair. Wow!! Then Cyriano colored my hair a lush brown with caramel highlights. Finally, I trusted enough to let him use the anti-frizz. I am only sorry I waited so long and now I can't wait to have the bio-softening done. My hair just keeps getting better. I don't just tolerate my curls, but I even feel glamoruous with them. TRULY AMAZING!!!!!
