Stylist: Jess

I had my hair cut and highlighted by Jess in November of 2010. She told me that she had just completed the devacurl training in Boston. She did a fabulous job cutting and styling my 3a Botticelli curls. I have very tough hair to work with as it has thinned out over the past couple of years. I had thought if I used enough mousse it would somehow create lots of volume. Jess explained that the shampoo and alcohol filled mousse were actually killing my curls. She recommended devacurl products and showed me how to use them. My hair has never looked better and now I've finally found a stylist who I'll be returning to! Thanks Jess and devacurl for making me fall in love with my curls again!

Stylist: Alyssa Ladas

This was my first time visiting this salon so I wasn't sure what to expect. I found the salon on Devaconcepts.com meaning that they have at least one stylist working there who is trained in the Deva dry-cutting technique as developed by Lorraine Massey. Alyssa is one of two stylists at this salon that were trained by DevaChan. She is a beautiful girl with a very gentle, sweet personality. Even though she does not have naturally curly hair herself, she seemed very comfortable with using the cutting technique. Her understanding of how curly hair behaves was pretty clear right from the start. I explained that I was just looking for a reshaping of my existing Deva cut with some shorter curly pieces that would fall across my forehead. She listened carefully as I told her about wanting to grow my hair out but knowing that we would have to take a little bit off in order to get rid of any split ends. She did exactly what I wanted! After washing and scrunching Deva product into my curls, we set about drying my hair upside down (as I usually do at home). At one point though, I asked her if she would mind if I just finished it up on my own as my back was starting to hurt since I was used to doing it while standing up. She was fine with that and I showed her how she could actually lift the diffuser right up to the scalp and include larger sections of hair for faster drying time. I also cautioned her about not running her hands through the curls or fluffing them so as not to disturb the natural curl pattern until they were completely dry. I appreciated her openness to learn. I'm looking forward to my next appointment with her though it may be another six months or so before I need a cut again. I will be recommending her to all my curly friends. Go Alyssa!

Stylist: Marisel

Based solely on what I read on this website, I went to the Dellaria Salon in Wellesley to have Marisel cut my hair. I am SO GLAD I did! Very personable and professional, Marisel cut my fine, curly--and obnoxious--hair perfectly. It falls into place beautifully after I wash it. I haven't been this happy with my hair in years! Definitely will go back to see her. She did a great job! I actually like my hair now. Viva Marisel!
