I was randomly Googling curly hair 3 years ago, found this website, and checked for curly hair specialists in my area, without expecting to find any. To my surprise, I read these reviews about a person named Martha, and figured, "Eh, what the heck- I'll make an appointment." It was fate, and love at first appointment. I have hated my hair most of my life- until Martha. I'm very lazy with my hair, and she's cool with that. No pressure to do more styling or work, but she is ALWAYS willing to give advice (when I ask) on how I can do more without much effort. She (thankfully) convinced me to buy better hair products, and my hair has been happier since. Turns out, I have to use crazy thick hair masks and treatments as regular conditioner (wish someone had told me this 10 years ago!). Even when I decided to reduce my curls- she was supportive and gave me all sorts of advice, and found the right straightening/curl reduction system for me- and it turned out great! She is a great stylist, and even puts up with me when I show up for my appointment without a clue of what I want. She is fun to talk with, is a great stylist, and just a great person in general. Seriously- make an appointment with Martha. Do it. She's worth it. You're worth it. Do it now.

I recently visited Salon Disegno not only was it one of the best hair cuts I've had in forever but the salon alone was a great experience! They are all so nice, and make you so feel so comfortable and welcome. I was always that girl who never wore my hair down and didn't love my curling hair. But recently moving to ga I just didn't know what to do with the humidity all my hair would do was get huge. I am so happy I found Martha she taught me some awesome tricks to style my hair, so for the first time in a long time I actually enjoy wearing my hair down. Well worth my visit, I will be returning!

I moved from Florida 5 years ago and have been searching hard for someone who could handle my curls. I'm a 3a, so it should not be too hard to find, but since moving to Georgia, it's been impossible. I saw the reviews for Martha and figured I'd give her a try. I saved up some money and found a day that I could travel the hour each way to the salon. My daughter's wedding was coming up and i wanted a really nice cut for that. I brought a picture in with me of a style I felt was very doable for my type of hair. Martha was really good at helping me figure out what styles would work for me in the style book. We clearly had the same ideas on what the end product should look like. Then, she went on to cut my hair in all the ways we're told NOT to have it cut. She insisted on washing it and cutting it wet. She then stretched my hair in sections, completely pulling the curl straight, and randomly cutting various lengths in each piece. She then blow dried it. The whole time, I was thinking that maybe she had a technique I was not aware of. She was so highly reviewed here, that she *must* know what she's doing, right? Not exactly. Now that I've been working with my hair for several weeks since the cut, I'm still very disappointed in the results. I have pieces of curls sticking out in odd places, curls that end in jagged lines, and some very uneven lengths all over the place (i.e. although my hair is generally shoulder length, I have one big curl sticking out the side of my head that is several inches shorter than the rest, no match on the other side of my head) I found that she didn't really listen to me. When I showed her a piece of hair at the top of my forehead that always wants to hang straight down into my face, she showed me one she had like it hear her ear and told me to just tuck mine behind my ear. Um. It's not long enough to even reach that far. Shrug. She frequently told me what her *mother* does with her hair as if I was asking her mother for advice. It wasn't a terrible experience and if I lived closer I might give her another chance. But, I am certainly not going to be making that drive again for results like this.

I am very happy with my cut. It's been almost 3 years since I had a proper cut (by Tiffany); and it was really showing. Martha listens very well. She kept my length (I am growing out); but I'm back to the bouncy curls instead of wilted mess. Actually, my curls have been behaving so well, I've been skipping KKCC etc. She cut my hair wet; but who cares as long as the result is great. I am definitely going back.

Excellent dry cut with Martha! Cut each curl with the Curly Girl angle at the ends and used the great analogy of cutting a curling ribbon. She also reinforced that I would know my curls best rather than pushing attitude (which is all I've encountered from OTHER stylists since moving to the Atl metro). Easy to talk to. Spent a good bit of time before the actual cut to get to know me, my preferences, what I do with my hair, etc. $53 for the dry cut. Very reasonable price for leaving happy about my cut. Feeling positive about the haircut experience--priceless!

Martha gave me the best haircut I have ever had. I have very thick 4a hair that I kept cutting back down because the shape would grow out crazy. Martha talked to me for 45 minutes before she touched my hair at our first appointment. She has been able to maintain a great shape on my hair while it grows out. She is extremely professional and knows all curly hair. I know I will be able to grow out my hair and maintain a great shape as long as I go to Martha. She is the BEST.

I am so happy that I found naturallycurly.com, and through reviews, found Martha. She ROCKS! I moved to Georgia from Florida almost 4 yrs ago, and I had yet to find someone that knew how to cut curly hair. I FINALLY found her. I wanted to have a trim, along with some shape(shorter layers throughout), and she did exactly that. She took the time to ask me tons of questions on products I use, how often, etc. Whenever I've gone to other places for a cut, they have made me feel like such a burden, but Martha actually enjoyed cutting my curly hair, and you can definitely tell she loves doing what she does. The rest of the salon staff was also amazing and very welcoming. I highly recommend this salon. Not just for the fantastic curly cut I got, but for customer service, and very reasonable prices. I will definitely go again soon for some color!:)

I strayed for a while and had been using another stylist on the other side of town for a Deva cut. I liked it well enough, but decided to come back to Martha for my most recent cut after seeing her continued good reviews. Martha, you rock even more than when I first tried you! She seems to have further refined her cutting "chops" (forgive the pun!). Very reasonably priced and not difficult to get an appointment; I got one in less than a week. If you're anywhere near, or even if you're not, give her a try!

I wish I had found this salon a long time ago! I'd been getting mediocre, overpriced haircuts for the longest time. Salon Disegno is a bit out of the way for me, but SO worth it. Martha gave me probably the best cut I've ever had. Before even touching my hair, she sat down with me and asked me very thorough, in-depth questions about my routine, the products I use, the look I was going for, etc. She expertly cut my hair and gave me her full undivided attention. (It certainly didn't hurt that she's super friendly and fun to talk to.) The price was comparable to other Atlanta salons. Around $48, I think. Even if you don't live or work close to the salon, I HIGHLY recommend making the trip to see Martha. It's definitely worth it.

I know everyone's raving about Martha, but Stacy (the owner of the salon) has changed the way I look at haircuts. I have 3b/3c combo hair (you know, looser in the front...kinky mass of hellish frizz in the back) and I dreaded needing a haircut. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and really understood my concerns about curly hair. I walked out with a haircut I ADORED and I've been going back ever since. Please give Stacy a try :D You won't be sorry.

My friends and family can't get over how great it looks and I've even had random strangers stop me and tell me how good my hair looks. Martha takes time to get to know you and your hair. Martha Rocks! I am so glad I gave her a try. She really knows what she is talking about in regard to curly hair. She not only made my hair look its best, but she gave me lots of tips on how I can do the same thing at home. I can't believe she is local and I don't have to drive into Atlanta to get her expertise. However, having said that, I think I would drive an hour to get to her! Don't hesitate to give her a try!

As with many curly girls, I am a 3b, I am VERY wary of ALL stylists. So many think that they know curly hair, but don't. When I moved to Atlanta, I thought there would be an abundance of stylists that knew curly. Howver, I discovered that many are only skilled at Afro-American hair and texture. That is completely different than my half Jewish, half Peruvian hair. Crazy mix huh?! I went to see Martha and she really worked hard to get it right. My first appointment was just before Labor Day and I had a cut, corrective color and highlights. I couldn't get the total look I wanted because poor Martha had to deal with some bad layers of color and re-shaping my hair. I plan on going to see her in the next few weeks to get a little closer to my ultimate goal. Overall, I was very satisfied with what she did. I couldn't expect perfection when she had SOO many layers of bad color to deal with. I am confident that next time we will get closer if not to my goal color and cut. Thanks so much for restoring my faith in curly hair stylists.

I can't say enough how wonderful Martha was. Having had many bad haircuts (I'm a very curly 3C) I was terrified going into the salon. Martha took tons of time with me examining my hair and cutting it very carefully. She truly understands curly hair and did a terrific job. I get compliments several times a week on my haircut. I've even had men make passes at me! Curlies, run, don't walk, to Martha.

I decided to give Martha a try based on the one review I found here. I had used another HIGHLY-rated Atlanta review for my last two cuts - the first time I liked it well enough to go back, but ever since the last cut, my hair wouldn't do ANYTHING, so I was wary about trying another recommendation. But Salon Disegno is so close to home - unlike the previous try - that I couldn't resist. Anyway, I liked Martha and the fact that she herself is a curlyhead (I'd estimate a 3A) and speaks curl-speak :) She gave me a conservative trim to try to get it curling properly again without taking off too much length. It has definitely been doing better, though not quite back to normal. Lack of normalcy is probably still due to the previous cut, not Martha. It's been about a month (have been meaning to post a review ever since), and I'm about ready to go back for another trim to get it further in shape, but so far so good. If my satisfaction with Martha and Salon Disegno changes, I'll update . . .

Martha is amazing. I found her through this website and couldn't be happier. Not only did she take the time to really find out what I wanted and discuss with me the options I had based on my current hair condition. I've never had a stylist as talented as Martha, either. She has background in art and color theory and is just plain naturally talented. I've tried going blond many times before and this is the first time my husband has honestly loved it. :) I can't think of enough wonderful things to say here... my hair has never been so pretty when I style it curly (she knows how to cut curly hair, being a curly girl herself)! I would say that before Martha came into my life (I've been to her twice now) I would straighten my hair or put it in a pony tail about 90% of the time. Now, I'm proud to say that is a near perfect blend of 50/50, but with maybe more times curly, just because it is so much easier (not to mention healthier)! I have wavy/curly hair (depending on cut and length) and I have never had a good hair cut. I have spent most of my life either hating my hair, straightening my hair or putting it into a pony tail. That is, until I found Martha at Salon Disegno. She has curly hair, so she not only understands how curly hair works but she also respects it. I told her what I was looking for and got the exact haircut I wanted. I have never in my life been so excited about a haircut. I normally spend the days following a haircut crying to my husband about the mess the straight-haired stylist created atop my head. After the haircut, Martha showed me the best way to style it. She spent time working with me so that I knew how to get my hair to work to its potential. I stumbled across Martha by total accident, but I want to make sure that any curly-haired-women in this area knows that there is a stylist that can take care of our needs.
