I decided to try this salon based on nothing but the reviews here. My last hair cut was almost a year ago and my hair was a mess. Oh yes i can cut curly hair and then you take a chance and your hair looks so bad you are fearful of trusting anyone. I can not say enough about Annette. She was warm and welcoming and put me right at ease. She explained everything she was going to do and through out the process. She gave me tips on how to handle my curls from products to drying and dealing with unruly curls. I had no suggestion except i wanted to keep my length minus cutting off split ends. I figured she is the pro and i let her make the decisions, really what the point of telling her how to do her job. I had decided to let her do what was needed to suit me, my face and my lifestyle. I washed my hair this morning and let it air dry and WOW my hair is perfect. The cut is perfect and i have some volume on top which has been flat for a long time ( i have thin hair that flattens from its own weight). I'm glad she owns the salon so i know she will always be there. I also drove over 1 hour to get to this salon and DON'T BE AFRAID trust here I'm amazed with my hair.

I have curly to wavy hair AND A LOT OF IT and have a really hard time trying to find anyone who knows what to do with it. I went to see Annette at Skintreet and I am gleeful! Here is what made this experience awesome and amazing: 1. It was like Annette and my hair had been friends since elementary school and she already knew all it's quirks and attributes and exactly how to bring the best out of it! 2. Annette is just a really cool individual. Like so cool I have developed a secret fantasy where we become friends and hang out at unique bars, go shopping, and travel to south america to hit up the beaches. 3. She has style and knows what is going to look good. YOU CAN TRUST HER OPINION and not come out looking like you have been exclusively hanging out at the mall for the last several years and the master cuts people got a hold of you. 4. Great, friendly, active, and engaging environment and the prices in the range that you will not have to choose between groceries for two weeks and great hair. 5. Most importantly, and I touched on this earlier, my hair looks fantastic. Really really fantastic and she recommended (but didn't push in any way) the right product. That's it! I am going back for "peekaboo" color thingys now I trust her so much! I have not done any coloring of any sort in my hair for about 7 years so that reallyyyy says something. Thanks Annette!

Stylist: Norbie

Norbie (Norbert?) and his wife Annette were very friendly. He has developed his own system for cutting and styling curly hair, and was eager to explain it as he went along. If you are stuck in London and frustrated with your curly hair, this is a good place to start to learn about your hair, as he has put a lot of thought into it and seems to have been cutting curly for years; however, if you already know anything about the curly girl method or have been to a curly stylist elsewhere, this salon might be a step backward. Norbie DOES NOT dry cut: he cuts damp, messing the hair around until there are no intact curls left. This allows him to cut your hair evenly, when it is straight and wet, according to a reference point system - but as we all know, curls don't dry that way. He also advocates thinning thick hair with scissors - not with a razor, thank god, but nevertheless, my curls are frizzier and less bouncy because of it. He uses salon products (mousse! on my thick, 3a curls!) with sulfates, cones, etc., meaning you will have to come home and clarify, then start over with your no/low-poo/co-wash routine. Finally, while he styles with a diffuser, the finished product was still too traditional-salon blow-dried hair (he wasn't keen on my curly bangs, either, and seemed to want to straighten them) which collapsed and frizzed out by the time I was home. If you've never been to anything but a conventional salon for your curly hair, give him a go, but I will be making the trip to Toronto or Vaughan to the Curl Ambassadors next time.

Stylist: Norbie

I saw a sign outside Skintreet saying "Specializing in Curly Hair". I called and set up an appointment. Amanda the receptionist recommended Norbie (Norbert). He did a super job of consulting with me. He diagnosed my triangular shaped haircut (which I didn't like at all, but no one seemed to be able to fix) and suggested shorter layers while keeping the length and reshaping the bangs (which I had asked other stylist to fix, but they thought they looked fine). Then he spent a good amount of time cutting and texturing my hair, reshaping it and letting it frame my face better. He then showed me how to apply mousse to it to lift the roots and then how to use a diffuser to get it to set. Norbie told me to put my hair in a bun on top of my head to avoid messing up the curls at nights. Things that I liked best about my experience besides how great my hair looks, were: that products weren't pushed on me, the individualized attention to detail and he said to come back in 3-4 months. No pressure, just amazing hair. Couldn't be more pleased. Then to top it off, Norbie said if for some reason I am having trouble with my hair or it isn't doing what I want, just come back and he'll work with it and get it right, since he has never cut it before, no charge. Excellent service on all fronts. Highly recommended.

OMG! He was SO nice!! He knew exactly what to do and explained everything as he was doing it. It wasn't just a cut and colour. It was an educational experience. He told me so many tips and tricks for curly hair and answered any questions I had without me feeling that I was asking a stupid question. He cuts your hair to match what you want, too many stylists do what they want! It was nice to have such a great experience after so many botched ones!! I highly recommend him and this studio. I'll be posting a before and after shot soon!

Norbie is an amazing hairstylist! He recently gave me an asymmetrical cut that is brilliant and I completely love. He also cuts my mum's hair which is by far the most uncooperative, tightly curled hair, and it looks great! He listens to what you want done and will even teach you how to apply product to get the most out of your curl. He has been cutting curly hair for a long time so your in great hands!!

Norbie was great! He told me exactly what was going to happen to my hair and it turned out exactly the way that he said. He eliminated all of the frizz and made my hair less bulky. My hair isn't a christmas tree shape anymore, it is now shaping my face. When I usually get my hair cut, it looks great when it is wet, but dries big and frizzy. Norbie made my hair look great wet and dry. It looked exactly the same. I would highly reccomend him to anyone with curly hair.
