Default Colored contacts or clear contacts?

I used to wear colored contacts all the time, but for the past year or two I've been wearing just my glasses. I have thought about getting contacts again, but I saw a photo of a girl with my old grey contacts so it had me thinking... Thoughts? Opinions on colored contacts?

I think they look horrible, fake--downright scary and evil on some people. If that's the look you want, go for it. I've always wanted light-colored eyes, but not enough to wear those things.

I vote clear.

If you have dark eyes- I agree with Ghost Poster. Colored contacts freak me out, especially when you see that little bit of natural eye color peeking out. Since eyes are the windows to the soul... I always get this creepy feeling that these things are hiding something.

This is just one of those things I'm strangely passionate about!

If you have light eyes, colored contacts are more subtle and I think they usually look ok.

I agree with Gemini.

People with light eyes can go from blue to green to light brown to grey without it looking out of place, but its harder for people with dark eyes to pull it off.

Yes, I guess I should have been more specific about meaning dark-eyed people! I, too, am strangely passionate about colored contacts on dark-eyed people, and that's why I just kind of went off half-cocked! I have been waiting for the opportunity to sound off on this subject!

They will look extremely unnatural, and be subtly off-putting at best. They just don't look like real irises.

I used to wear the color "enhancing" lenses in green, on my green eyes. They were very subtle and just added a little bit of color. I loved them. I don't usually love them on dark-eyed people.

It looks unnatural. I had one of my students get a hair to try something light-brown I guess but it came out orange. He looked like Laurent from Twilight.

I too, think they can look odd on dark eyes, unless they are just going for a light golden brown.

Seeing bright green or bright blue can look odd on dark eyes because the natural color shows through.

On other eye colors, they can still come off oddly though.

I was thinking about this last night as there is a girl in my class who wears them. She looks to be Indian and is a little chubby and very adorable. I am fascinated by her because she always wears the green contacts, has her hair beautifully done, wears bangles and dangly earrings, then wears too-big sweat pants, sneakers, and big t-shirts.
But, I digress...I just think they can look very strange. The color-blend contacts are sometimes not too creepy.

It's one thing if you have light to medium brown eyes and want to do a hazel or honey brown.

But this? No, no, no, no.

I have light brown eyes with green and gold specks (hazel). I used to use colored contacts to make my eyes look more green. I liked it but it usually irritated my eyes.

Freshlook colorblends are the only ones I've seen that look okay. I wore these in different colors, green being my favorite, they come out darker on dark eyes so they don't look too odd. They didn't work too well on me since one eye had more pigment than the other due to such a different power. Not everyone could tell but it was noticeable if you paid attention. If it weren't for that I loved the green on me.

If you're enhancing your natural color, okay. A green wants to be a deeper green or something like that, that makes sense.

But when people go from brown to blue (I'm sorry but especially black people), it's just not attractive, IMO. It makes the eyes look cloudy and unhealthy.

I went through my colored contact phase in high school, something I can't believe my parents allowed looking back on it. I went from an amethyst to a dark green. Looking back at old pictures my eyes looked scary, and I think any color that's not your own tends to become that way, which seems to be the general consensus of this thread.

Definitely go with clear, especially if your eyes are brown. Lighter eyes seems to blend better with colored contacts, but they still look obvious.

I agree, go with clear. Brown eyes are BEAUTIFUL. No need to try to make them something they're not.

You don't want your eyes to look like Li'l Kim's...
