I don't know if I'd want to wear ben wa balls all day. I'd be afraid they'd come out when I sneezed or something like that.

i love this topic!!!

i found this on-line

The Fancy Stuff
Once you've mastered the basic Kegels movement, vary your practice with these "advanced" techniques:

- Slow Kegels: Tighten your PC muscles and hold for a slow count of three. Relax and repeat 10 times.
- Quick Kegels: Tighten and relax the PC muscles as rapidly as you can for about 10 seconds.
- Big Moves: Using your abdominal and PC muscles, tighten the entire pelvic floor, then push out or bear down. Repeat five times.
- Fluttering: Quickly tighten and release your PC muscle in a fluttering movement for ten seconds. Relax for ten seconds and repeat.

To notice a difference, you'll need to perform these exercises every day. Within a few months, you should notice a change in your ability to move and flex your PC muscles.

by the way....somewhat related but what do you ladies think of the tightening gels/creams that are out there? i heard alum (the spice) is the old school way that ladies used to tighten their love spot...

I've been missing all the fun while I was at work.. at which I probably could have spent 6 hours doing kegels as I wasn't doing much else...

Maybe this weekend my beau and I will go on a ben wa hunt.
And thanks for the warning about the airports.

I was worried about that. When you go to the bathroom, you relax that muscle, so wouldn't they fall out?

Yes, I can just see them bouncing along down the grocery aisle.

Aww! Z!! I'm feelin all special!!

I generally do my kegels at red lights, during commercial breaks or at work when I have nothing to do. If you're unsure of how to do them, try it in the bathroom. During urination (is that a word???) try stopping your flow. The same muscles you use to do this are the muscles that are used to do kegels. I have 2 sets of balls. One is a small set of ben wa balls, that are fairly heavy. The other is a larger set, with a smaller ball inside. The point is to hold the balls inside using only your "muscles". I got mine from the local sex shop.

***by the way, I've gotten rave reviews!!!!!***

Aside from just general tightening and releasing and bearing down with your pelvic floor muscles, err, in yoga, you can learn to isolate the individual muscles and work them alone. There is a muscle group for your urethra, your vagina and your anus. Learning to control them independently as well as a group is beneficial to your feminine health and your sex life The most difficult is to flex and release them independently yet sequentially.

My husband found a page in one of my yoga books that said something along the lines of "yoga makes for a good bedfellow" and his reaction was

Well, THAT certainly wasn't covered in Sex Ed! Or Phys Ed!

So what kind of yoga is this? Because I seriously do not like yoga or pilates, I'm way too impatient.

Maybe TMI but I think I have about a billion kegels to go before I'm ready for ben wa balls, maybe I could start out with ping pong balls or something .

I don't know which kind of yoga it is, but it's covered in my Yoga for Dummies book for sure and I've seen it mentioned in others as well

I would like to do it daily, but keep forgetting and now reading this just reminded me to do it. I think the before bed and right when you wake up is a good time to do them.

The kegelcisor looks interesting, but I don't know if I'd want to put that in and do it, it just seems like way too much work. Plus you have to be home to do that.

It's used in Ashtanga but there are some other forms of yoga (ie Kundalini) and during certain pranayama (breathing exercises) that uses these techniques. They're called locks or bhandas to help channel energy associated with the chakras.

The three locks are located by your anal/sexual glands (mula bhanda), below your navel (uddiyanda bhanda) and at the base of your throat (jhalandara bhanda). In ashtanga, you're supposed to keep mula and uddiyanda bhanda during the majority of the practice.
