Favorite horror movies?

My husband and I have been looking at a bunch of horror movies lately. or more the action/horror movies type. Blade, Slither, The Ring, Skeleton Key... Well they are all different types really.

What are your favorite ones? Maybe I can get some ideas on what to watch next.

Dawn of the Dead has been rented out the last times we have gone to the movie store. I wanted to look at that one.

Haha! And I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street when I was a teenager. Not sure whitch one it was though. Must be at least 8 of them or something..

I think I saw 28 days Later...

The Omen is freaky and Psycho.

We just watched the two Resident Evil movies over the weekend. I liked them. They set you up for a third one too...

Not sure if I have watched The Shining...

Eilonwy 11-29-2006 04:51 PM

Well this one is more of a comedy with horror, so I'm not sure if it's really what you're looking for. But I love Shaun of the Dead. Great script, acting, pacing, and editing, with lots of memorable lines.

Kurlee 11-29-2006 05:03 PM

My husband talked about watching that one. It is on our list.

Did you watch Slither? It is a funny horror movie type too. I really liked it actually, but it is really weird too. Good weird.

Ajidahk 11-29-2006 07:00 PM

Umm...I don't know of a lot of horror movies, but watching Paranormal shows on tv (Lisa Williams, Ghost hunters, Celebrity paranormal experiences...) and the internet spook me. Movies though,

The Ring 1 & 2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 & 2
CandyMan

Kurlee 11-30-2006 05:40 PM

I watched The Ring I and man it was freaky to me. I hated how she crawled up that well. I don't think I can watch the second one. I heard it was worse.

Okay, so I watched Shaun Of The Dead yesterday. Pretty funny. I didn't know it was Brittish. Love when they saw "a girl in the garden" there. Nasty funny.

Do you watch the new Twilight Zone??? It's hosted by Forrest Whitaker.

Sometimes I stay up to about 4 am to watch it.

Kurlee 12-06-2006 04:02 PM

Oh and I watched a movie named "The Cube". It was pretty good in a morbid way. A group of people get put in this big cube and they all have something about them (skill, personality..) that can help them get out of there. There are traps and stuff.

It's ABC for me. It comes on like Saturday morning around 3 or 4 am for me. Check your local listings. :D

I really like it.

Yay horror talk!

My newest favorite is Rest Stop
Severance
Shaun of the Dead
The Evil Dead
Jeepers Creepers (the first one is classic)
Wrong Turn
Cabin Fever
28 days later
The Haunting (old and new versions)
House on haunted hill (new version)
All of the Dawn of the dead series old and new versions
Silent Hill
Just before dawn
Friday the 13th first and second ones

I adore horror so I best stop before my fingers fall off from typing :D

Kurlee 12-11-2006 04:21 PM

So I watched Nightmare on Elm Street (first one), Exorcist: The Beginning and From Dusk To Dawn this weekend.

I have watched Elm Steet before and it was so stupid now that we didn't finnish. The Exorcist on was pretty okay. Got 2 Swedish actors in it. The main 2 actually (the doctor and the main caracter-he also played "Bootstrap" Bill Turner (father of Johnny Depps caracter in Pirates of C.)). Kinda funny.
From Dusk to Dawn (w. George Clooney) was suuuuper bad. I real Turkey movie.

I gotta say there is nothing as bad a s a bad horror movie.

Cherish 12-11-2006 05:31 PM

Not mentioned yet:

The Others
Rosemary's Baby
It
Underworld
Van Helsing
Interview with a Vampire

I'll edit if I think of more.

medusahair 12-11-2006 05:45 PM

Kurlee I love From Dusk till Dawn it cracks me up! I just love the funny horrors. But then I'm a die hard horror fan.

The last movie to make me scream out loud in horror (was sudden and gross)
Final destination 2, 3 is good but 2 was my fav of the three in this series
13 Ghosts ( I can't believe I forgot this one!)
Sole Survivor (more of a head trip than full on horror though)

mayim 12-11-2006 05:51 PM

the shining is fantastic!!!

 I didn't even think From Dusk to Dawn was funny. I really am not a fan of Quentin Tarantino. I guess maybe that was a factor too. I saw him on 'Tyra' and he seems to be “older guy liking young women type” dude. *shiver*

I have seen Final Destination. Hmm. Didn't like it too much. Is the second better? Do they use the same actors or?

Haven't seen the other two you mentioned.

Come to think of it I have seen a bunch of the ones mentioned here. I just can't remember which ones I saw (before I see them get mentioned here). If that makes any sence.

medusahair 12-11-2006 07:43 PM

Final Destination 2 is shocking sudden and bloody. It's the same sort of story but the only one that returns (well most died in the first so no wonder) is the girl and she's not in the whole thing. YOu know the artist girl.

Yeah I hear ya about Quentin Tarantino but he did play a disgusting part so it was made for him. I have no clue what that had to do with the rest of the movie though, ironic justice I guess.
I have an odd sense of humor I'll admit it :D

Rest Stop (now this one scared me)
The Descent
Demons
