Default here's your ****ing patriot act

an iranian-american student was tazed at the library in UCLA because he failed to produce his student ID during a "random check". in the video , which is about 4 minutes long, they must have tazed him at least 5 times. once the guy screamed he had a medical condition they should have stopped... not tazed him 4 more times. i dont think anyone would feel well enough to stand up 20 seconds after being tazed, let alone after they were tazed repeatedly. the other students who were watching asked the officers for their badge numbers and were told to get back or they would be tazed also. wtf is wrong with these cops?

You left out the part where he was a complete ass to the cops as well.

How was he being an ass? Was he just mouthing off? I don't think that's worthy of being tazed once, much less 4 times.

I didn't say wether it was worthy or not. But he was an ass. They have a rule there where you need your ID after a certain time, he could have simply complied, but he chose to be an ass and make a scene.

I'm not saying they were in the right for tazering him 4 times, but I wonder why he wouldn't stand up when they told him to numerous times.

If you've never been zapped with a Taser, I think it would be difficult to gauge how long it would take to stand up again when you're in a lot of pain. I've never been zapped with one, but I can't imagine it feels good.

The sound on my computer doesn't work... was the guy refusing to let police see his ID? Was he the only one targeted for the "random" check? Why was tasing him even necessary? Couldn't they have just taken him into custody if he resisted cooperating?

The way he was mouthing off and not obeying the directives from the police/campus security he got what he deserved. I don't understand why he didn't just get his ID out and there wouldn't have been any problem.

Yes I have been zapped well over 100+ times, I've even had to fight through stun shields to get my certification during the department of corrections training. It doesn't hurt that much, except when someone sneaks up behind you and gets you on your hamstring or butt. That will put ya down.

Funny you mention that.

"It was beyond grotesque," said UCLA graduate David Remesnitsky of Los Angeles, who witnessed the incident. "By the end they took him over the stairs, lifted him up and Tasered him on his rear end. It seemed like it was inappropriately placed. The Tasering was so unnecessary and they just kept doing it."

And cops would never taser someone in those extreme pain places, now would they? Nah...

I don't know why they hell they couldn't just cuff him and drag him out of there if he was such a disturbance. He didn't look that big. Why torture the guy with a taser over and over and over...

He wasn't armed either, was he?

Even though he was uncooperative, I think the police were out of line. There were three/four of them, and only one of him.

Cops get special license to torture it seems. And we're all supposed to put up with it, because it's like the most dangerous job in the world...but it really isn't. Statistically, it's not all that dangerous to be a cop. They just want us to think it is.

The thing is, it is highly suspicious that he was stopped and "asked" to show his ID for any other reason than he looked muslim...

Imagine how many times in a day he is treated poorly for being muslim looking or arab looking multiply that by every week by every month by every year...and then maybe you'll get some idea why he was exasperated and anger by such a request.

And by the way, citizens have every right to be asses to the police without suffering police brutality as a result.

I know. Couldn't they hogtie him, like they do to the suspects on Cops?

I mean, jeez, tasering him over and over like that...

I read somewhere that they do random ID checks at this library. I don't know why he didn't want to show his but more and more police departments are using tasers as a punitive measure rather than to subdue a citizen.

Of course they are claiming that they do "random" ID checks. What else are they going to say?

That's disgusting. Cruel and unusual punishment much?
