I don't have a wreath of my own. I think my mom may've had one a long time ago. Our church does the thing where they pick a family each time to light the candle. Don't all churches do that? My grandma is the hardcore Catholic with the Advent wreath. She's got the rest of the family covered.

Having lived in Germany so long, we also celebrate St Nicolaus Tag! My son put his boots out last night!

What's the German song? I'd love to know it. We didn't learn that one.
Sure! Here's what we sing. I hope I spelled everything right; I'm fluent in German but I never really learned reading/writing, although I'm okay at it:

Advent, Advent, ein Lichtlein brennt
Erst eins, dann zwei, dann drei, dann vier,
dann steht das Christkind vor der Tür!
Germans do Advent so beautifully!
I was in Darmstadt a couple of Decembers ago and the markets were so beautiful!

I think I understand that song! Cute! Is it:

Advent, Advent, a little light shines
First one, then two, then three, the foor
then the Christ child is standing in the door!

I think German is such a wonderful language.
Thanks, I like German too!
Yeah, that's pretty much the translation, but it's standing at the door, not in the door. ("Vor" means in front of.) I've never been in Germany during the Christmas season, except once when I was less than a year old, so I've never seen it, but I'm sure it's beautiful.

I don't think I've ever been to Darmstadt. My mother is from Hannover and that's where my grandparents live.

Smiles are free, so give them away.

Celebrate we will, 'cause life is short but sweet, for certain.
