#1: Prayers/Thoughts/Support Needed
As some of you may know, my family has been through a lot lately. In early October, my grandfather died from Leukemia. And 13 days later, him mother (my great-grandmother) died from Liver Cancer (she was 96). And now, my grandmother may have cancer. This is the hardest for me to handle. We are really close...she is really close to all of her grandchildren. You cannot imagine a more loving and giving individual. On Saturday, she was admitted to the hospital because of her liver and pancreas. Her liver levels are better now, but they found a spot on her pancreas. They let her come of today, but she has to go back for an outpatient procedure with a scope on Wednesday. We will know more then, but it sounds like cancer. I'm so upset. I did some research on the net and the prognosis doesn't look good.
I also read that most patients only live 4-6 months after the initial diagnosis. The American Cancer Society reports that only about 23% of patients with cancer of the exocrine pancreas are still living one year after diagnosis. Only about 4% are still living five years after being diagnosed.
