Default Hairstyle for teen boys

Hey sorry I'm posting this in here and not the hair board, but to be honest I never go there and I'll completely forget to check what people say if I post there

So my son is 14 and wants a new hairstyle. He has realllly curly hair all the way to the scalp. His hair is the S shaped pattern and he gets what I call boingers (you know the Cindy Brady boingers). He has crazy thick hair (our hair grows a ton in the summer) and it's a long style.

Here a picture of some kid that has the same length and type hair as him...

granted thats if he uses enough hair product. Sometimes he doesn't use any and you can image the poof fro that happens

He's ready for something cut closer to his head, esp the sides and back, and a little longer on top.

Anyone have any ideas that would work like that and work good for that hair type? I've looked on the internet but cannot find many pics of teen boys curly hairstyes. Might just not be having the luck tonight but thought with so many curlies here that this would be right up your alley!

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I was going to suggest checking out Dierks Bentley's hair as well. He rocks the curly hair for sure.

There is also Adrian Grenier!

What about Paul Iacono? He's the curly in the new Adidas commercial with B.O.B in the faux-diner.

He's also the star of the MTV show The Hard Times of RJ Berger.
