Potentially heated topic about white women...

Perhaps minority women are accepted for being bigger because of the "mammy" roles we've played in America historically?
People rise to the standard expected of them. GC
I have to agree, from my experiences that the more wealthier caucasian girls are not on short leashes from their parents, I am just middle class, but I was on a Short leash, where as, the area I am from is mostly upper class and those girls were more promiscuous and "freaky" and would have abortions to get rid of their problem on a regular basis. The more lower and middle class girls (caucasian, and african american) would usually have on one bf and if they got pregnant, they usually had the baby, so everyone knew they had had sex. Where you didn't know the wealthier ones did b/c they hid it. ~~jax

And now, abortions are expensive (especially with the federal limitations on paying for them). It's not just promiscuity, either. If you come from a rich family and you screw up, you can be bailed out, settle with the owners of the property you damage, get a good lawyer. If you don't have those resources and you screw up, you are in jail.

ok, I have to ask, to the white women responding on this thread that they have never heard this sterotype - are you sure? Where I'm from it's a pretty common stereotype that white women "put out". It' asjust as common as many of the other ones tossed around this board so I'm surprised that it's so unheard of among white women. How is that so? Is there a but of denial going on here?

What I think is more interesting than a stereotype I've never heard of, is that no one is getting angry about this thread since white women don't generally have to worry about these stereotypes doing them harm.

I don't get how if you think something is wrong you still engage in it just because others do. But, this type of thing is one of the reasons I keep coming to the site.

Matchless, I had no problem with the original thread and no problem with yours, either. I have heard that stereotype and very much agree with Geeky's thoughts on the subject.

My cousin's pet peeve is white women who think they have (in their words "ghetto booty" and therefore will be attractive to Black men when they are, in his words "just fat.") Thickness/curves etc. are not the same as fat.

Then, once I moved into a more diverse environment, and started making more friends, stereotypes didn't really play into it. I made a friend, I learned things about him or her, and I assumed those things held true for just him or her, not for the entire race he or she was a part of.

I don't know if that answers your question, but I've honestly been sitting here trying to think if I'd heard it before. I just really really haven't.

aren't here songs written about it though, Like the Beach Boys' "California girls"?

That particular song singles out Farmers' Daughters and many other types of girl.

I'm not trying to nitpick, and maybe I'm really *just* that clueless.

ETA: I meant to type also that song never really sounded like the California Girls were promiscuous. I should google the lyrics.

I have heard of white women more willing to have sex or do sexual favors with/for men quicker than minority women. I've known/encountered a few white women who have fit that stereotype as well.

I was discussing this with my best friend, who is a black woman, about how one of our white girlfriends was quick to drop to her knees at the drop of a hat for men she barely knew, yet we would be like "SAY WHAT!? " if some dude we barely knew asked us to do stuff with them sexually, and ONLY become involved with a man sexually if we knew it was something serious and longterm. We came to the conclusion that maybe, and we could be wrong, it has to do with our Caribbean parents' 'sex talk' consisting of: "YOU HAVE SEX AND I'LL KILL YOU!!!!!!!" Yet our white girlfriend's parents, who are very open minded and laid back, probably had a very civil, sex talk with her, didn't use scare tactics, didn't threaten her life.

As for CGE's post, it is an interesting one. Perceptions that white women are sexually easier could lead to higher incidents of sexual assault and rape of white women. But statistically speaking, rape occurs at the highest levels WITHIN the same racial or ethnic group. This is a very clear and well-documented pattern. Yet, you rarely see lots of news coverage about white women being raped by white men, be they strangers or spouses or boyfriends or casual dates. What you do see is a ton of coverage of black men sexually preying on white women that plays on historic and societal stereotypes.

Also, to the extent that white women are perhaps victimized in higher numbers than minority women (and it would be interesting to look at the stats there), the media has a clear pattern of covering those stories in huge proportion, thereby enshrining the cultural/societal value of young white women's lives, bodies and health.

Except in cases where there's a strong stereotype to the contrary (like the supposed impotence of Asian men), I think there are a lot of stereotypes about people not of your race or nationality making better lovers.

Being overweight or non attractive and not getting promoted due to those things aren't doing us harm?

Do those things make me angry to think that since I am white, I must be promiscuous? Sure, but knowing that I am NOT like that, I guess it's not making me angry. I don't think that it's true, but I also don't buy into many of the stereotypes out there about other races/religions/cultures, either.

Or maybe, since I am white, I am just being passive-agressive about the whole thing and just kind of shrugging my shoulders.

"california girls' just jumped to my mind as a quck example. I'm no music historian so don't look to me for more examples but I'm pretty sure that Beach Boys' weren't singing about black girls in that song. No offense. And yes it's a light, fun song but if you want to read between the lines I'm sure you could.
