Default holiday party: hose or no hose?

Tonight we go to DH company party. It's a big deal, every one gets very dressed up. So my question is: are stockings/hose in or out these days? I think they were out for a while. It's about twenty seven degrees today. The thought of my pasty white legs out in the cold makes me shiver. Still, I want to look nice, what do you think? neutral colored hose, black (dress is black btw) or bare?
Thanks in advance, the curlies always know!

If it's very formal/ black tie, then wear hose.

I'd say wear them unless your shoes are open-toed.

Amneris and Wile E. thank you for responding so quickly! I'm leaving for work soon, so now I know at least two curlies agree with me...I'm glad I bought the nude and the black stockings. I was thinking that nude was the way to go, but it's not like the Kohl's salespeople would have been able to help me...even if I could find one there. (not knocking Kohl's shoppers, I spend a lot of $$ there.) Thanks again.

Hose. I'd probably do a very sheer black.

My husband's holiday soiree is tomorrow evening. It's dressy, like cocktail attire dressy, and I'm wearing sheer stockings with my black and white outfit. I may wear sheer black...

Either way I'm wearing stockings. It's cold out and stockings at least make me feel like my bare legs aren't flapping out there in the breeze.

Definitely go with sheer. I like the sheer nude hose with the subtle sparkle/shimmer for Christmas - or the vintage style ones with the seam up the back. If you want to feel extra hot, go with stockings and a garter belt that only you and huby know about. Sheer black - I guess could work, though my instinct is still nude. They also have sheer black with shimmer and those are nice.

(I hope I don't encourage the citizens of the stocking message board to re-appear.....)

Yeah, that thread of mine sure turned into a fiasco! (hey, I should add that to the "favorite thread you started" poll!) LOL

I'd go with the sheer nude too. Or a very sheer black. Have fun!

I was just thinking about those stocking people. I like the nude sparkly ones as well.

VERY dressy.

The sheer black ones I have are ultra sheer and have a seam with wee rhinestones on it.

Edited to correct spelling because I'm an idiot sometimes.

If I want to be spendy, the specialty lingerie store.

To go a little cheaper but still good quality, department stores like The Bay (which is like your Macy's or JC Penney I guess.)

I got the rhinestone ones at Nordstrom, but I buy my usual, run of the mill, daily wear stockings and tights from Target.

I do have that super sheer nude pair - those came from Macy's, I think.

I just don't like the way panty hose look. I think they look outdated.

If it's dressy, I'd wear them.

At that temperature, I'd wear them too.

With my coloring, I sort of need them.

Okay, I have the same question although my Christmas party is not a formal. I will be wearing a dark denim pencil skirt, my long black boots, this top from Ann Taylor in the dark berry. I also have a beaded belt to go around the bottom. I was thinking of buying some black fish net or patterned stockings. My knees show between the skirt and boots plus it's cold. Thoughts? Should you not wear hose with denim?? I could go either way...I thought it may dress it up...but would it look funny? I think solid hose would look funny but I thought a pattern???
