Spinoff: What mispronunciations, or wrong word usages make you cringe?
Liberry for library. It's not a fruit!
FebUary for FebRuary
Fith for Fifth
orry for awry
AX for ask I axed him? You chopped him up?
and of course, I seen instead of I saw.
And I'm probably the only one who cringes at this, but it's not baby mama or baby daddy, it's baby's mama or baby's daddy.
And lastly, pewckle for pickle. Whaaatttt?

Curlytoast, on my computer your response comes out:
:P :P :P :P followed by a smiley. What is :P ? Is my monitor just unable to show it correctly?

Oh, no -- sorry CP. That was me assuming that the punctuation for a smiley-sticking-out-tongue would yield an actual smiley-sticking-out-tongue. Turns out, it doesn't.

Thanks, CToast.
Also cringeworthy: I'ma instead of I'm going to, as in:
I'ma see him tomorrow ... instead of I'm going to see him tomorrow.
And the constant use of "like" instead of "said" as in:
...and then I'm like blah blah blah and then he's like blah blah blah instead of
...and then I said blah blah blah and then he said blah blah blah.
Grrrr. All this tends to happen on buses where I am stranded sitting next to morons gabbing loudly and inanely on their cell phones. And I'm like STFU! but I don't say nuthin. (hee)

I agree with the ones listed already.
I overheard a woman talking to her friend in a clothing store about "lingery" — she meant lingerie.
A friend of mine asked me once if I had a "res-ahyp" for the dish I wanted to make. After I fell out, and dried my tears of laughter, I let her know that it was pronounced res-uh-pee (recipe).

I cannot STANNDDDDDDD the way some women use the word "female".
As in, "This female tried to approach my husband in the club last night"........or "Some females cannot stand the way I look"......
I'm sorry but it grates my nerves to no end.

I say Feb-You-ary and Fith. LOL
I am more lenient when it comes to verbal communication.
I hate seeing "your" for "you're" in written communication. "Your stupid" is hilarious to me.

I know. "Female" makes us sound like we're some sort of animal.
Hey sinistral - you're my lefty twin. How's it going?

Its funny how different areas use different words. Some of these things that are popular in some places have never been used in others... for example I've heard maybe half the things mentioned on here before, and not the other half. idk I think its funny I guess.

MAJOR Pet Peeve
I hate when people say, "I could care less...."
NO NO NO NO NO, its "I could NOT care less...". Otherwise, you care a whole lot rather than caring so little you have no caring whatsoever left in you!!!
Drives me INSANE!!!!

+1 to the bolded. SO irritating, I don't even know why. And I think it's probably just me, but atleast more than one person I know always spells "thought" "thaught"...is this a common mistake? Angers me. If you're gonna text, text right. I can handle "u" instead of "you" but with the other things mentioned, grrrrrr.

I call it "lingery draws" as homage to Wanda on In Living Color. It's a joke for most people, I'd think!
