Anyone watching The Walking Dead? (ATTN:please put spoilers in white)
 

Considering there's not much to add to the typical zombie/Dawn of the Dead/The Stand/apocalypse type movies, I really enjoyed it.
Lots of blood, gore, violence, and some disturbing scenes. But for those who like that, which I do, it was really good. And Andrew Lincoln looks pretty yummy in a cop uniform. Can't wait for the next episode!
I've watched the 1st episode a few times over and it's still one of my favorite tv episodes of all time.

I love the updated zombie flicks and was looking forward to this show. I thought it was pretty good. I couldn't help but think that they sort of bit off of 28 Days Later as far as the introduction to the zombies. I'm hoping the storyline picks up a bit more as the shows go on.

It had me yelling at the tv - "TURN AROUND! RUN! SHE IS GOING TO EAT YOUR FACE OFFFFFFF!!!!!"

Exactly my thoughts on this. Except in the US and no hot Cillian Murphy.

My 14 yo is almost infatuated with zombies. So because of him it was added to our queue. I was pleasantly surprised. Looks to be a well produced series here. And because of it's channel, it should at least run a course to some completion.

I thought the same thing, until I read an interview with the creator of "The Walking Dead" (which is based on a comic book). Apparently 28 Days Later and The Walking Dead comic book were being developed at the same time, unbeknownst to the creators. The movie came out just a few months before the comic book was released. The creator of The Walking Dead initially freaked out when he saw 28 Days Later, but figured the two stories were different enough for people not to say he ripped off the movie. Little did he know...

Anyway, I'm a big fan of 28 Days Later and I love this show as well. The gore was pretty tough to watch at times (especially the last scene with the horse), but most of the scenes that got to me were just creepy: the little girl in the opening scene with the teddy bear; the room in the hospital with "Dead Inside: Do Not Open" warning; the zombie wife turning the door knob; the shot of the tank covered with zombies. The show has stuck with me all week, so I'm excited for tomorrow!

Don't get me wrong, I love me some zombies, thought it was a good show, and will continue to watch. :mrgreen:

I really liked it! It was very intense, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I thought last night's episode was great. The zombie in the sewer scared the crap outta me!

28 days later is a great movie. I like this series, too, but 28 days later will always be it for me. coughcillianmurphycough

I missed last night's show. Maybe they will re-air it.

I think this might be my new favorite show. I enjoyed the second ep, although I didn't think it was quite as epic as the premiere, which had a really haunting quality to it. I feel like the second ep was more action-packed, but the premiere had more memorable scenes. For example, I loved the following scenes from the premiere:

• Opening scene with little girl
• Hospital scene
• Zombie Wife peering through the peephole and turning doorknob
• Morgan trying to shoot Zombie Wife juxtaposed with Rick putting Half Woman out of her misery
• Final scene with Rick and the horse running into the zombie horde, and the final shot of the tank overrun with zombies

In the second episode, the only truly memorable scene for me was the one with Rick and Glenn trying to "hide in plain sight," although I'll admit it was pretty suspenseful!

Anyway, that's a minor quibble. I'm really eager to see where this goes. Has anyone read the comic book? I don't know how closely the TV show is going to adhere to the comic, but I read one spoiler about the comic book that was pretty crazy.

By the way, for those who think Andrew Lincoln (the lead) looks familiar, but can't place him, I just discovered that he was in "Love Actually" (the guy who's obsessed with his best friend's new bride, played by Keira Knightley). And apparently the actress who plays Andrea, the blonde woman in the department store crew, used to play Marita Covarrubias on The X-Files.

I haven't read the comics, but I heard that there are some horrible things happening later. Like rape and such.

I thought the zombie mom that came back to her home was really creepy and kind of sad.

I think it's just the right amount of creepy. I was also yelling at the tv - specifically when the zombie mom was at the door ("don't look at her!!!!"). But it wasn't so creepy that I triple-checked the locks on my own door before I went to bed.

I think the zombies are extra creepy/scary because they move much faster than zombies usually do.

LOVED IT! But I love zombies...I think it's fantastic, very suspensful (Rich trapped in the tank surrounded? Walking through the crowd of zombies covered in guts? I was having a heart attack!)

I could do without the lovey-dovey drama of episode 3. And I know and love plenty of rednecks but even I want to kill both of the rednecks on the show. : )
But I loved this part -

I just started reading the comics (someone at work let me borrow his compendium), but I'm already totally spoiled thanks to this (very addictive) site: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_Wiki

So, yes, some very, very bad things happen in the comic. I'm actually very curious to see how much of it makes it to the screen... this is basic cable after all.

So, what did people think of the finale? Now that I've read the first eight volumes of the comic, I can't help but feel a little disappointed with the direction the show has taken. I thought the premiere was amazing - it had this creepy, haunting vibe to it and did a good job of taking plots and characters from the comic and fleshing them out. I don't want them to strictly adhere to the comic, but I think the show has veered a bit too far off course. I hated the whole CDC plot. And I was really hoping the first season would end the way the first volume of the comic ended since it was such a pivotal, shocking moment and would have made for a great cliffhanger (see spoiler below).

Spoiler alert: In the comic, Rick and Shane have a fight over whether to leave their camp following the zombie attack from a couple of episodes ago. Rick follows Shane into the woods to work things out, and Shane has a complete meltdown - which really has to do with the fact that he's in love with RIck's wife and feels that Rick's return has screwed everything up. When Shane pulls a gun on an unarmed Rick, Carl (Rick's son) shoots and kills Shane to save his dad. I've heard Frank Darabont, the creator of the show, say that he doesn't have plans to kill Shane anytime soon, so who knows where they're going with this plot. End spoiler.

Anyway, I'm still enjoying the show and have high hopes for Season 2, but I hope they can somehow recapture the magic of the first episode.

My son got angry with me because I deleted the one episode I recorded. I found it pornographic in its violence, just extremely, disburingly violent and pointless. My son was explaining all the rules of zombiehood trying to get me to keep it, and I found those interesting, but I was too disturbed by the graphic and intense nature of the show.

But I'm not a scary movie fan. I don't find killing and murder entertaining.
