I was trying to figure out wtf was going on with Milton, and I still don't know.

He was okay one episode and the next he is all sweaty and checking his pulse...

What's up with you strange little man??

*better yet, what's up in your make shift lab?*

From the conversation they had during that scene when Daryl's shirt ripped it sounds like Merle left home leaving Daryl there to deal with his father beating him on his own. Like Merle abandoned him, but he said he had to leave or he would have killed him.

He's such a selfish askhole I can't imagine he cared that he left him behind too much; he can claim that whole tight brotherly bond thing, but he's just a big douche bag.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
^ I thought it was just beating at first too, but watching it again... Much more is said in expression and actions.

HELP ME!! I can't stop watching it. Some of those have to be scars from a knife.

I want to be wrong.

I did notice in a preview that the gov's cut eye was on the wrong side. I just assumed he was looking in a mirror.

I do hope they can take a little break one of these days and go to the mall and get some clean clothes.

Q&A - Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) - The Walking Dead - AMC

Q: Given all the deaths on the show, are you ever worried that your character could be the next one to go?
A: I think we all have that fear. Nobody's safe in this world -- on our show, as well as our group. Everyone is a moving target. I dont' think anyone thinks they're going to be on for a certain amount of episodes. They think they could go at any time, and the producers have made that clear. We are all afraid.

I thought the scene with Daryl and Merle really showed hurt and pain and bad memories for both. I think Merle really DOES feel guilty for leaving Daryl when they were kids. Usually in these situations the older kid gets beat on more than the younger one so I'm guessing while Merle was home, he was taking the worst of it.

It was a very meaningful well done scene.

^ That is very true. The oldest child can get it worse, in some situations, but it seemed like something more to me.

I think about abuse situations I am familiar with and... i don't want to go into great detail but it reminds me of a childhood friend. He actually took off his shirt in front of me and another friend to show us what was happening to him. He wanted to show someone. It was physical abuse alone, and the beatings/marks were placed where clothes would cover them.

Uh, anyway, that truly just felt and looked like more but my head will go there.

I kind of agree with fifi, I think it could be more, because the way he covered himself, it wasn't just ...I mean those scars looked horrible but surly merle knew his baby bro was getting beat too, but, the way Darryl tried to cover it immediately like it it would reveal way too much, you know? I don't know if I can explain lol. Me speak no english.
And why be so panicked and ashamed for your brother to see scars that he has as well?

They are setting that up nicely, if one can say that about abuse. We know that Daryl was left to fend for himself, in the woods, for days, as a small child. They put in the neglect.

We have seen him having a hard time getting physically close with Carol, and other psychological issues.

Now we see the actual physical scars.

I can not wait to see Herschel jump on Rick in the next episode. He used his "respect my authoritah" voice in the preview.

The look on meryl's face when he saw daryl's back made me think he didnt know it was that bad. he had that, "whoa wait, whaa?" look. he knew his dad was abusive, but he never realized how far he went with his little brother until he saw the scars.

Or because he cant really see his own because they are on his back, that is the first time he really saw what their father actually did. he knew they were beat, but it made them tough, so he was like, "whatever, if i took it he can take it" but seeing the scars, it finally clicked that "holy crap our dad was a sadistic prick! and i left my brother to fend for himself!"
