Thats common in shows set in the south. It's easy for people from England, Ireland and Scotland to perfect the dialect and nuances because they are very close derivatives.
Yup! Southern dialects are pretty much the only remnants from the colonizers.
Perfect, tho? Not really. Andrew Lincoln is pretty good, but the governor sometimes distracts me bc his accent is a bit...exaggerated.
The Gov is over exaggerated, period. I wonder where his character is from. I don't really get Georgia from him. I think he could do some other accents well, if more subdued. Time, Fine, Go, Grow... He has the right amount of drawl in all.

I can count several different variations in my county alone (that's NC in my case, not GA). I love it when someone has perfected it, and it feels like home.
