Aw I had a kitty named Milo before. He was a HUGE white and tan Maine Coon. I'm glad your daughter was able to find him a good home!

That's a diaper in front of her. I got to vacuum the floor RIGHT at the baby's bedtime. At least it was clean. She has littered the backyard with a dirty one before.

Uh-oh, bad doggie!
Must be something in the air today because Calvin decided it was a great day to poop on the floor while we were gone! YAY! The thing is after he poops he tries to cover it up with his nose and he's scraped part of his fur and some of the black off his nose in the process on the rough carpet. It looks like it must hurt so bad, all red and raw.

Spring1, maybe if you gently wash his nose and then put some aloe vera gel on it? Will help it heal...I used to have a Golden who would rub his nose raw in the winter, and that treatment seemed to help...

Poor Calvin's nose!!
bless his heart - maybe some neosporin? (a thin, thin coating)?
big hugs to him, too - I mean, I'm sorry he pooped in the house but his poor nose!

Knotty_Maddy, thank you for the suggestion!
I did think about Neosporin also, although he'd probably rub it off.
I am just so sad that he pooped inside, he's been doing so well since we moved here and it was so wonderful to come home and not wonder if there would be anything to clean up. I don't know what has changed to make him start doing this, but if he keeps it up he won't even have a nose left, it looks so awful.

Spring, maybe he just really, really had to go...? Sometimes, you just can't wait ;p my dogs have done this to me before, and I finally tracked down the problems - 1) food allergies causing excessive, messy BM's and 2) not making sure they had dumped while walking and 3) making sure they had a good run around to - uh - stimulate movements before we left the house.
I'm sure he didn't do it for mean reasons...
(about Neosporin - since dogs lick their noses, can it be maybe be toxic to them...?)

when my guy started getting older sometimes he'd have accidents in the house - sometimes he wouldn't even notice, bless him. He did have arthritis in his hips, so sometimes he'd hold it too long and/or he liked to go (even on walks) like a horse, just lift his tail and keep on going - it was easier than assuming the position - could Calvin's back be bothering him?
(and my vet has said the neosporin is okay, even if they lick it off - just don't put a lot on there... but if his tummy is unhappy...)
Poor Calvin, I just want to hug him.

PerriP, thanks for this useful info! I didn't know about the Neo - I am glad to hear it is safe, another tool for my arsenal, lol!
And...your poor dog with the sore back...awwwww! It's so hard to watch them go into decline - My poor old Retriever died at 13, it nearly killed us to watch him age, and then to judge the moment to let him go. I still miss him like crazy and it's been several years now...)
