I just went from pic 1- Zoya Neeka, which chipped really bad after a day or so, to pic 2 - Zoya Kat. And I cut my nails really short! One broke so I cut them back, maybe a bit too much. LOL Oh well, they grow fast.

(I am going to contact Zoya to see if I got a bad bottle or something. They usually last me 8-10 days.)

I really want these, but there's no way I can talk myself into spending $18 a bottle.

Have you all seen this blog post on an easier way to do sponge gradients? The time they take the "regular" way always deterred me from trying them, but I may try this!

Layniefingers: Another way to do a sponged gradient!

And I love, love LOVE this!

Sally Girl polish in some turquoise. I don't see the name anywhere on the bottle, but I know there was the name on the shelf when I bought it. So there is a name, I just don't know it. I wore this because
1) wanted to find out if I need a big bottle of a turquoise in another brand. Turns out I don't.
2) wanted to know if it wears well enough to buy more of this brand in polish colors I like but think will look terrible on me. This way I can sort of test drive colors. Polish is B2G1 at Sally's this month, so I plan on picking some up.
I added a matte top coat (not pictured) and I like this color better. I've had it on 4 days and there is a lot of tip wear. So not bad, but not fantastic wear. Certainly good enough to experiment with different colors of this brand.

So far, I like matte top coats over dark polishes and over bright polishes. Matte top coats don't extend the wear of polish. If you want to protect your polish, do a regular top coat followed by a coat of matte.

With dark polishes (I've done navy, dark reds, dark purples, emerald green), my favorite way to wear them is to put on a matte top coat, and then stamp over with the same polish. When you do this, it has a shiny/matte thing going on. I also like funky french matte/shiny. I've seen a lot of cool tape manis with the matte/shiny thing going on, but haven't done one yet.

Last year I put matte over summer brights (hot pink & teal). I haven't tried stamping over bright colors yet.

these aren't my nails but this is what I had done today. Except the technician took the picture, I brought this image in with me as a point of reference, to literal and painted white lines across the non-matte tips of my nails. She didn't realize that the "white polish" was actually the light reflecting off the nail tips. FML.

I'm in the satin version of OPI's Suzy Skis in the Pyrenees this week. I've been bare for a while and needed a change... but I REALLY want to get another Shellac. No topcoat shine can compare with that.
