Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in "Blue It". Did a craptastic job so I'll probably re-do.

My nails are getting pretty yellow. I've been using one of those sticky base coats, but that obvioulsy wasn't enough to prevent yellowing.

Is there a base coat that prevents this, or is it inevitable?
I use Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator. I've never had a problem with yellowing since I started using it.

Thank you, bluesheep.

I had a mani and pedi today. Some of the yellow got buffed out, which helps, but some is still there. I guess I have to wait for that to grow out.

My fingernails are still plain, and I picked this OPI blue for my tootsies. I didn't check the name.

LOVE that shade! One of my faves.

In general, I'm a huge fan of Rimmel cosmetics.
I've put a glitter top coat on it now

^^Are you using a top and base coat?
Avoid water - use gloves when washing dishes, etc.

I change colors all the time, so I am not to worried about staying time.

CG's Empowerment on my nails. Lurrrrve. This is seriously the most flattering color!

How long does it take to do your nails?

I always want to paint them, but it seems like it takes YEARS for them to dry properly!!! And with two dogs, its hard to not touch anything or have anything touch them!

So any tips on how all you ladies get such pretty fingers without hair lines and such, I would appreciate it!

TIA!

I would love to see recommendations of top coats, stengtheners, base coats, cutical oils,
whatever people are using to make your nails look so good. I'm just getting back into painting my nails after years of not doing it ever and want a decent looking manicure regimen I can do at home. Thanks to anyone willing to share.

I do have currently Recondition and Seche Vite but they haven't really worked wonders for me. I painted my fingernails for the first time in probably three years last weekend and by Tuesday they were already a chipped mess.

I give myself a new manicure every 7-10 days and a pedicure every few weeks. I don't use a base or top coat. I put on 2 coats of polish (fast drying, mostly Sally Hansen Insta Dri) and then add another coat in 4-5 days or as needed. I always wear gloves when doing dishes, gardening, etc. They really save a manicure.

Just did a fresh mani/pedi tonight.
Fingers are Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Flashy Fuchsia
Toes are Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Blue Streak

I don't know what it's called but I know they carry it at CVS it's a quick dry spray. Its like cold hairspray for your nails lol. But it dries them in like 30secs. You could also dip your nails a few times in ice water it speeds drying time up.

It was the worst of any place on my whole body! I said 'never again on my foot!', but then I had the other foot done a couple months later. Masochist. : )

Cute! Are those nail decals on your toes??? You don't put a top coat over them? Don't they fall off? Or do you put them on while the nail color is still wet? I'm new to this obviously.

Is Gelish something you have to go to a salon to have done? Getting your nails done here can cost big bucks. Unless you are getting them done on base (which no one recommends), we pay yen and the yen to dollars rate can make a manicure/pedicure cost a fortune. I'm cheap!

sariroo, Yes those are decals on my toe and thumb. Just cheap decals from the dollar store. They stick on very well. I put them on when polish is dry. When I add a coat of polish to my nails after a few days, I add a coat of top coat over the decals to help them stay shiny/sparkly longer. Other than that, they need no care.
