What nail polish do you have on at the moment?

I've become very determined to get that dang OPI Spotted DIY to work. I am closer this time around than last, but still not good enough to wear. I'm frustrated.

When you do a water marbling, what temp is the water at? I think that is where my problem is happening. My nail color isn't doing the pretty spread apart thing that it does in the videos.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Until I figure it out, I'm going with L'Oreal Tangerine Crush with Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Diamonds over it. I will post a picture as soon as I'm done.

And because I'm doing therapy shopping, I also bought Sinful Colors in Inkwell for my OPI Spotted DIY, Essie in Beyond Cozy, Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Orbit, and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Crystal Beading.

Pictures to come!

Mix of 3s, thick, coarse, medium porosity

Current hair styling technique: rake with a scrunch at the end. (works with my coarse hair)

OK. So the black I bought is brand new. I just got it yesterday. I tried with room temp water. Like TNB, I got 1 good nail example and 9 crappy ones. I've sprayed with water, I've sprayed with an antibacterial spray. I guess water works best. I'm even considering trying a different spray bottle to see if I can get better holes.

I'm so determined.

I will try the filtered water to see if that does anything. I really want it to work.

It reminds me of that paper that you would color in bright florescent colors with a thick layer of black on top. Then grab a pin and "write" in the black top and get the color to peek through.

Must. Get. To. Work.

cutepolish's video. But she doesn't explain the temp or the filter water business.

I must get this to work. If anyone can get it to work and can tell me, I would appreciate it. I feel like an idiot since I can't do it!

Water Spotted Nail Art Tutorial - YouTube this was another blogger that did a spotted look. during the video she tells you how she mixed up her own spray sanitizer cause the one cute polish used is only found in Canada and if your like me I can not find a spray sanitizer also if you look she tells a few tips under the video on how you might have to change the water because the sanitizer builds up and it wont look good.

Maybe I went wrong at the spray.

I will totally try this again. The new video looks EVEN EASIER than the first one!

I'm so determined! WTF. I will have spotted nails or I will die trying.

OMG!

i like to wear sparkle coats over base coats and i often mix colours up by trying them on white cardboard until i find something i like.

which is how i came to OPI Euro-amazing, which is a dark rusty orange with a deep golden-pink tone to it with the hot pink fibre-sparkle (rather than glitter sparkle) of Tokidoki Donutella over it!

i had my toes done with this combo today - gorgeous!

sally hansen smooth & perfect color + care in fog. not exciting but i try to alternate the bold with something more subtle. supposedly this polish is "breathable" so i'll be applying oil on my nails nightly to help then get stronger.

I'm just back from a weekend with my brother's family. On Sunday, SIL took me to her salon for a gel manicure. Oh, boy, I think I'm hooked. I wasn't feeling adventurous, so it's a very close dupe to Essie Ballet Slippers, but this lasts like nothing I've ever had. I know, it's only been three days, but it looks brand new.

Unfortunately, the app is not working for me, so I can't take a picture I think this is the color I chose.
Now I'm going to have to find a salon to take the polish off (eventually, 10 to 14 days!) and do it again!

I've always had tips that are almost translucent in some spots. Which is why I can't stand looking at my nails without polish on them. Anyone else have this?

ETA: I'm looking for a nude polish. I've never worn any but I like how it looks. Now I have very pale skin as you can see and I'm clueless about undertones and whatnot. Can anyone recommend a nude (preferably OPI or Essie since they are widely available in Holland) that would look good on me?

Happy that you found something that lasts!
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.

Thanks kayb, it's actually a nail growth program. You put on a fresh layer everyday for 5 days without removing the previous layer(s).

I managed to make my last mani last for 5 days before it started chipping. How cool is that. I forgot to take pics. It was essie rock solid as a base, two layers of essie's decadent dish and a layer of essie's no chips ahead.

I did them before I went to bed and when I was finished I dipped my nails in ice water for 3 minutes. That seemed to help!
