I'm going to use OPI Russian Navy on my toes tonight. I'll throw some NutraNail Nail Strengthener on my fingers and call it a day.

The reason bloggers leave that gap is so that they don't get polish all over their cuticles. That way they don't have to clean up around their nails, and they can keep the polish remover off of their skin so that they don't get terribly dry hands. It also is quicker to remove if it doesn't cover the entire nail, which is important when you're swatching 10 colors at a time.
When they do real manicures their polish goes all the way to the edges of their nails.

I am wearing a very sparkly bright red called "OMB!" by Nicole (which is an OPI brand). There was a tag on the bottle with The Bieb's picture on it but I bought it anyway because it is RED AND SPARKLY!

No, I don't. That space is referred to as "the gap" in the nail world, I think. People who have nail polish blogs swatch a lot of nail polish. All that apply/remove/repeat is hard on their nails and cuticles, so they leave that space to make it a bit easier on them.

Thank you both! Makes sense. I didn't think about all the photos being from bloggers.

Not my nails, but I just bought this polish (Love It!) OPI Suzi Skis the Pyrenese - Suede
It chipped really quickly though. Next time I might put a top coat on...

TRBL - Did you use a basecoat? I know a lot of matte/suede polishes tell you not to use a basecoat, but I've heard you can usually get away with it and it greatly extends the life of the manicure.

I didn't /insert embarrased look/
I didn't even realize I had bought 'suede' polish, until I started painting my nailes, and then I was like "ooooooh, this is different, it's kinda cool!"

It does look really cool! I've never used a matte/suede polish, but I have heard they chip faster than regular cremes.

That's been my experience. I love the suede/matte look for winter, but it drove me crazy how quickly it chipped.

I am about to put Zoya's Edyta on my nails. Ohhhh, it's sooo gorgeous and delicious. Pictures don't do it justice. Honestly.

I just put Zoya "Indigo" on my toes. It's dark blue with teeny sparkles.

Revlon in Royal. I haven't bought any Revlon polish in years. They seemed to only have dozens of variations of red, but they now have some great new colors (and some scented polish too, which is kinda cool.)
This pic does not do justice. It is really an electric royal blue.

ChG Rainbow with a coat of Essie Marshmallow as base coat (I skipped real base coat this time) to get Rainbow more opaque.

OPI Chicago Champagne Toast on my toes. And nothing on my fingernails because I fell last week and am now sporting a big ol' brace on my right hand/wrist/forearm, so I can't paint my nails.
