Default shatter polish

is there a trick to using shatter polish so more of the under color shows and the top shatter doesn't consume the look?

With my brand of shatter polish (Mia), the thicker I put it on the bigger the gaps to let the underpolish show more. But of course I forget this every time I put it on so my shatter usually has finer cracks.

I need more practice painting my nails, yikes! Anyway, Sinful Colors Merlot and over that glittery SC Pearl Harbor (I think, blue glitter anyway) on every other nail and CoverGirl(?) Ruby Dust on the others.

On another note, or maybe the same one, heh. SC is 99c at Walgreens thru today at mine.

Anyone know where to find OPI on the ground?

Some sparkly Wet and Wild orange (I think it is called "orange", lol) with black shatter over it. I think I am getting the hang of the shatter- I painted it on really thin and quite a bit of the orange is showing through.

Warning this is about to be photo heavy.
Drippy nail tutorial!
For this you will need
Clear base/top coat
Color(s) of your choice
Pointed tool (sewing pin, ball point pen, tooth pick, bobby pin, something lol)

I chose a bobby pin

Start with a clear base coat and optional base color (I could see using a neutral or white, for my mani I used clear but for the purpose of this tutorial I used a white fake nail)

Next paint a quick French tip horizontally across the nail.
I also like to paint the very tip of my nail and slightly on the underside to prevent chipping (here's what it looks like on my natural nails)
Put a couple of drops of polish on a piece of paper or a paper plate if you have one just so you don't have to keep dipping in the bottle.

Place a random dot further down your nail
then connect the dot back up to the French tip. Repeat across the entire nail. Make sure you keep it random and staggered don't place your drips at the same level.
Then fill in the gaps so they look less boxy
Let it dry a bit top with a clear coat and you're done!

This works for so many other colors and for more than just Halloween, I've done black nails with neon green drips to look like slime, white nails with brown drips and "sprinkles" too look like an ice cream sundae, and even a different color on each nail to look like dripping paint. Have fun and I hope this helped!

Any questions just ask!

Agreed!

Mine started a chip, nails bend too easily, not VERY easily but enough. I may have to try that drippy nails with CG Liquid Leather & Tree Hugger for tomorrow. Or maybe Free Love since my stockings are orange/black striped.

Love the Halloween nails, ladies. I'm wearing the OPI Pair 'Em Scare 'Em duo: Zombody to Love (Glow in the dark super-sheer green) + black shatter.

My first post in this thread I wear a sheer pink or vanilla on my nails 99% of the time but painted them a vampy blackish red for Halloween (wet & wild) so I thought I'd share. My 2 year old saw me taking a pic of my hand and wanted to stick his in there
