That they were totally dry when she finished was both awesome ans REALLY hard to adjust to. You just painted my nails! I shouldn't be able to shove my hand in my purse all willy nilly! But, I could! Sweet.

I want to know more about this.

Using my iphone with my toe thumbs. There will be typos.
It was fascinating. The outset is just like a regular mani-- remove my polish, soaked my fingers, shaped my nails and trimmed my cuticles. Then she cleaned and dried my nails really thoroughly, and the fun began.

One layer of UV base coat and then the hand went in a little UV light oven for twenty seconds. Then a layer of color which looked really thin and not particularly pigmented, and back in the oven for two minutes. A second layer of color looked much, much better, and back in the oven for two minutes. And then a layer of UV top coat, and back in the oven for two minutes.

After all that, she cleaned a sort of sticky layer off the surface of my nails and lotioned up my hands. I thought it was weird that she was doing the lotion/hand massage part of the mani AFTER the polish, but the polish was hard, dry, and glossy. And not just Dry Enough, they were stone hard.

I've been wearing my nails short lately, but if you prefer your nails longer this would be GREAT on long nails-- I imagine they'd feel invincible. But my nails are pretty strong on their own so that may not be the case for everyone.

24 hours later and they look 100% fresh, just done. Still super glossy. Of course it's only been a day, but on my fingers a regular mani would start to wear. There are no flaky edges I can pull at, I can't imagine the ends chipping or cracking. It's on the thick end of the polish spectrum, and sealed onto my nails in a really unique way.

I'm fascinated by it. I usually go through phases with nail color, I'll go six months without even thinking of wearing any and then I'll go another six months religiously wearing polish. But this might be a game changer for me. I might find myself actually wanting to pay the cash to get a mani on a regular basis-- it's not wildly expensive at my salon.

Sorry it's blurry....
I believe this is called Shellac nail manicure or gel nails. CND Shellac nail polishes are intended for this process. The polish is like $12 and change (what tha) I also viewed the process on YouTube. Your nails are to last 14+ with the process. Let us know how you like it in the end.

Yes, if you read the beginning of my post, it is Shellac. I was describing it per Iroc's request.

My nails look almost exactly like the pool black color even though I didn't get shellac and it isn't pool black. But it is such a dark purply color that it looks black.

I love it! My nails are very short and it looks clean and modern. It's probably too "young" for me but I don't care! I just can't consign myself to pastelly pinks and old lady rose or any other boring colors.

I had my toes done with the same color. Hot!

What color is it, CP? I have a purple that I was hoping would be Raven's purple, but came out almost black. I wonder if it's the same.

And no way is it too young for you. Nothing is too young for you.

Nails are now Sally Hansen Inta Dri in Wined Up, one of my favs. The thumb is OPI I Love Mummy underneath Orly Winter Wonderland with some Wined Up dots on top (kind of shaky this morning so they aren't very neat).

The Winter Wonderland is so much prettier in real life. It was included in a bunch of minis I got on ebay including gorgeous sparkly red and green. Can't wait til December to do Xmas colors!

Thanks MichelleBFT. You made me giggle and ITA! It's dangerous looking but I love it!

I'm not sure what the name of the color is. It's by OPI and the salon told me it is a new color. When I go back I'll find out and re-post.

They will pry black nail polish from my cold dead hands (she said dramatically). Nothing is too young for you CP (or me either).

Thanks RCC and spring. The sun was out today for a bit and I spent much of my time outside admiring that sparkly Winter Wonderland polish.

Hear hear! We are not too old for anything! Although I have not worn my Charla on my fingers (yet! it's pretty sparkly and I've saved it for my toes), I plan to wear other teals on my fingers when the weather warms up! Sometimes I wonder if some colors are too young for me, but then I look around and see older (-looking) women than me wearing crazier colors.

this is with salon effects by sally hansen...taken with instagram (if anyone is on there, holla atcha girl through a pm)

I'm gonna put holly from zoya on my toes with a top of glow up already by OPI which is a gold glitter

I'm not the best at painting nails or doing nails, you would think I'd be amazing with how much nail polish I have and how obsessed I am.

Question

I'm deciding between 2 colors for Thanksgiving.

Has anyone used those nail stamp kits? I think Konad is one, but I saw an ad on TV about a cheap kit and wondered if they work.

I haven't ever tried one myself, but I watched my friend use it years ago and it looked easy and worked well.
Rite Aid has a 10$ kit (different brand).
