Default Poll:Drastic hair dyeing

I'm EXTREMELY bored with my hair color. Every few years I go through this and do my usual red but I'm even bored with that. I went jet black hoping it would make me happy but alas, I'm not. I have a great colorist but want opinions on colors. I'm torn between blue or purple highlights. I also can't decide if I shoud do them just underneath so they peak out and show in back or if I should do the top/front too. And chunky or thin? Here is kind of what I'm looking at. Opinions?

1.

2.

3.

For the record I'm a SAHM and nothing I do requires me to look professional. Hair color wont disrupt any part of my life. I'm asking here because you guys "know" me better.

Oops! Sorry - screwy new keyboard.

What color are your eyes? What is your skintone? Most important - what color do you REALLY want?

As someone who currently has some blue hair, I would go for the purple. Blue fades like crazy (I have to re-dye mine every 2 weeks) and it doesn't fade pretty either. It fades to a grey-ish beige. I have about a week til all of the blue is gone from mine and I just have a strip of platinum blonde.

Purple, on the other hand, will last about a month (on me) and fades to a nice lilac-y shade. I would go with purple just because it's lower maintenance....and Punky Colors and Manic Panic last the longest, just so you know.

i did the purple underneath before. the only thing i didn't like was that it faded so quickly. i ended up just having that part colored a copper-y brown. i still got the drastic, funky, unexpected contrast i originally wanted with the purple, but without having to color it over and over and over again.

but either way, i voted for purple.

I think the blue chunky suits you. But, as others have said, both will fade quickly, so the maintenance could get high. They bot fade more quickly than red does.

I like the blue.

Would you ever try dyeing your hair black with another colour underneath? Like, two-toned style?

They all look cool, but I highly recommend the purple as the blue fast so fast.

Quick question though, if you hair is dyed black how to they get the black off for the streaks? I dyed my hair black constantly and when I tried to bleach some streaks in they would not take where my hair still had black dye. Seems like only a hardcore stripping would work.

My eyes are hazel and I have olive skin but get really pale in the winter.

I really want them both! I have such a hard time with making decisions. After listening to you guys and talking to my colorist I'm going with purple. She's supposed to do it tomorrow and I'm sooooo freaking excited. We are doing the darker purple in what are called "peekaboo" highlights. They'll be underneath so my roots wont show and it'll give me a little more time for touch-ups. She cut some drastic layers in my hair a few weeks ago so I think it'll look really cool. I'll post pics!

She knows it's dyed black and black is one of her fave colors and she has experience with it so we'll see. I'll definitely let you know what she uses.

I vote for the purple because it will bring out the green in the hazel eyes! I have hazel eyes and cosmeticians recommend purple as a contrast liner. Good luck!
