The backwards apostrophe is actually a letter of the Hawaiian alphabet. It represents the glottal stop, which is the "separating syllables" sound you'd make if you said mu-u as two syllables. There's something in the back of your throat (ie, your glottis) that closes right when you say it.
Ah, the glottal stop. I haven't heard it mentioned in years.

I wasn't going to correct the massive misspelling that's been going on here the past few days, because that would be rude, so I just started writing it out as muumuu, and some seem to have picked up on it.
I was just spelling it how spell check told me to. Spell check prefers muumuu. But I will more than likely go back to mumu because I like it better.

I like kurtis which are similar to that, but are not open in front.

This is a poncho. Not a mumu. But it does hide the flab much like a mumu.

I have no idea.. I found it on ebay, I think I just typed in sequined jacket. I can't tell how enjoyable it has been to look for bad clothes online today. Although I don't think the ruana I posted was bad, just different.
