Should tunic/caftan crossover be allowed? Do we need a poll?

I say yes.

Is this an over-mumu or a short caftan? I know what the website calls it but I'm trying to understand the over-mumu.

ninja dog 12-13-2010 12:48 PM

You know, it's proving to elude description, eche.

I vote caftan. I think an over-mumu has more structure.

What does everyone else think?

I'd say that's more of a caftan? These over-muumuus are open in front.

I kind of like the above garment, actually

Check out the last comment in the discussion area: What is a Caftan?

Sounds like the differentiator is the open front.

This is really more of a long jacket, but wow:

I think the "shirt jacket" is what I think of when we're talking about over-muumuus:

See...I totally love a long military jacket like that. I wish the sleeves weren't so long and that she wasn't wearing that dumb hat and hooker boots, and with all that brass, you don't need additional jewelry, but otherwise, I would wear that.

ninja dog 12-13-2010 01:10 PM

No effing way. No way could anyone but Michael Jackson, Prince, or Liza (& her impersonators) wear that. (Or someone playing a role in H.M.S. Pinafore.)

I'm calling your bluff. I want to see a pic of you, in that jacket. Otherwise, it's all just talk, rcw.

Heh...

I'm not saying I own one, just that, IF I could find one that fit me properly, I'd wear it.

On Fashion Police this look was described as representing all the Jacksons (Michael, Tito, LaToya, etc).

ninja dog 12-13-2010 01:27 PM

It's a tribute jacket!

I think a person has to be able to do a complete dance spin and hold a note while waving a hand before she/he can lay claim to wearing that jacket.

Cheetara 12-13-2010 01:28 PM

I don't understand! Are you talking about a Mrs. Roper style caftan?

RedCatWaves 12-13-2010 01:29 PM

What note do you want? I can do Middle C.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
