I completely agree, except I really dig good jam bands even when sober...though only when I see them live. It's difficult to just sit and listen to jam bands.
I could handle house music once upon a time, but ever since the a-holes in the apartment above mine moved in and blared it to the point that it vibrates through our walls, just thinking about it gives me a headache, and makes me extremely irate.

Love house music. I remember the first club I went to was called the Underground. Then came Limelight, Tunnel, Vinyl, Twilo (RIP), Exit, Sound Factory, etc.
Danny Tenaglia, Carl Cox, Tiesto, PVD, Sasha & Digweed, Junior V... Aaaa, memories of the days when NYC had a great scene.

wow, i remember the underground. it had many floors and it was the first place where i'd experienced a unisex bathroom. you could even go to the roof, right?
my favorite club song (we didn't call it house music) was...i don't remember the name of it, but it had some lyric about, "a place....where we can be freeeee..."
that's all i remember.

I remember one particularly long night at Twilo when he was spinning... I was so tired, but his music was so good that my body just couldn't stop dancing. Good times.

Oh dear. This may be a long post
A few favorite tunes (a mix of Balearic/disco, progressive, housey, more tech):
Hercules and Love Affair - Blind ( original as well as Frankie Knuckles remix)
Jamie Jones & Simon Baker - Kaskazi
The Aikiu - Just Can't Sleep
Lost Valentinos - Thief (Nile Delta remix)
40 Thieves feat. Qzen - Don't Turn It Off (Brennan Green Mix)
The Phenomenal Handclap Band - Tears (Stallions Remix)
Lindstrom - I Feel Space
The Swiss - Bubble Bath
Sebastien Leger - Bambou
Martin Eyerer - Barber's Pole
Phil Soren - Big Event
Phonogenic - Future Bass (Roberto Rodriguez remix)
Faithless - Insomnia (old school classic)
Push - Universal Nation (James Harcourt remix)
In terms of mixes, I love Greg Wilson, Ralph Lawson, Steve Lawler, Sebastien Leger's Essential Mixes, Eelke Kleijn, Ichisan, Mustang, Dave Seaman's Renaissance mixes, and of course Sasha and Digweed!
Other artists I love: Trentemoller, Sebastien Thibaud, Ichisan & Nakova, Underworld, Gui Boratto, Slam, Kruder & Dorfmeister...
Told you this would be a long post!
