Do women still wear pantyhose?

I still wear them once in a while -- mostly at this time of year, when it's too spring-like to wear opaque tights, but too chilly to go bare-legged. Actually I tend to avoid skirts at this time of year, for this reason.

I never really understood this loathing for sheer hose. They make most people's legs look better -- especially if, like me, you are not a spring chicken any more.
I haven't worn nude hose in 10 or more years. They feel uncomfortable and look old-fashioned to me. I will wear tights or black hose in the winter, though.

My pet peeve in life is people wearing pantyhose with sandals or open toed shoes, though. Yuck. Makes it look like you have webbed feet.

I'm not really a fan of sheer hose. I wear opaque tights, patterned tights (lace, dots, ribbed, etc) or fishnets.
2C/3A -- wurly!
I rarely wear pantyhose. Opaque tights are way more comfortable and much warmer in cooler weather. In the summer, I usually go barelegged since hosiery is beyond uncomfortable in the heat. For a funeral in the summer, I would break down and get sheer hose, though.

The only time that I have/will wear hosiery has been for a job interview. I wear pants in the winter.

Yes, but I don't. I'll accept it(as not to offend anyone at a sensitive time) but I really don't understand the respect factor in wearing hose to a funeral. You can still see your legs, it's just a thin seeh through barely existant layer. If I think it's disrespectful to bare my legs somewhere, I just cover them with clothes.

If I knew that I would be in the company of extremelly conservative people who would freak over the sight of my naked calves then I would either wear pants or opaque tights/patterned hose.

ETA: People can be weird sometimes. I remember it was early spring and I was at a funeral. I remember I didn't really have much to wear and the most appropriate shoes I had were open toes. Apparently my open-toed shoes were the talk of the funeral ... I was like seriously? Someone died and the most important thing on your mind is the footwear of an otherwise very nicely dressed 15 year old girl whose just putting her grown-up wardrobe together? Get a life.

I wear high denier tights but I really don't like sheer or light denier. They remind me of school and I've yet to find a shade that resembles human in any colour. I wouldn't go bare legged to a funeral though is wear dark or patterned opaque tights.

Does anyone remember the pantyhose invasion to the site we had a few years ago? I think the thread got lost in a purge

Please excuse errors, I'm psoting on my phone
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.

I would - but I'm sooooo old school. I still wear a slip under all skirts/dresses too.

I love sheer black hose. I rarely have occasion to wear them tho. It's been years. I won't wear hose with sandals or open toed shoes of any kind.

I would go to a funeral with bare legs. I've often gone to funerals in jeans. And in sandals. Same with church. I don't think decent clothes of any kind make someone disrespectful.

My legs are okay without them, and I'm pale on every part of my body; why do I need my legs to be darker than my arms and face? I understand camouflaging imperfections if you're insecure about them, though. Before stuff like Spanx came out, I remember wearing control top pantyhose to make a slim skirt fit better, too.

I guess I just don't like it because it calls attention to itself in an effort to look natural, but isn't natural. Pantyhose are usually too dark, or you see a run or a seam or something. I love pantyhose with the seam up the back ala the 1940s, or tights, because you can actually add to the character of your outfit with those.

I also love the hose with the line in the back.. I have a black pair I bought for lingerie. I could wear it out..but the problem with me and dark hose or tights is that they make my legs look too stick like.
For those of you who find tights more comfortable.. why/how???

I feel like I'm in a wrestling match everytime I so much as think of using the restroom. (maybe I just have cheap tights)

No, I do not wear hose that show. I think they look hideous. I Only wear hose under pants to keep me warm. I do wear tights occasionally, usually with boots and a skirt.

I think that I deceive genius.
Are hose the same as what UK people call tights? Or are tights like leggings?

Anyway, I wear opaque tights all the time in the winter. In fact I wore them today.

I had a wedding in church at the weekend and I wore sheer tights. And I had peep-toes, but the tights were open toe, so I avoided webbed feet. I haven't worn sheers in ages and must say I did like the polished finish they give.
An old co-worker of mine had a pair of pantyhose that had thong toes so she could go open toe - do they still make those?

Is that what you have, JoeyEmma?
Hello:
I am a writer and my girlfriend is Russian. I have followed the Russian female wardrobe attire since 2001 and have never seen them without any form of hose, stockings or pantyhose. In fact it was on Russian women many years ago I saw the intricate designs in the hosiery and did not understand why it had not caught on in North America.
I have been totally oblivious to the backlash of women wearing the above mentioned.
I grew up in the generation where a woman did not show up at a funeral without something black on her legs.
Maybe it was me but recently I saw a very white female in a very beautiful dress that came to just above her knees, exposing a fair amount of white, white legs and I became very ill.
I have watched my ex wife many times getting into and out of pantyhose with relative ease so I, as a male, based on this one female observation do not understand the problem. I know in saying this, I am going to catch a backlash, but this is my observation.
And finally I agree, shiny leg wear is just not natural.
And one more thing. I have a neurological problem in my lower legs and given consideration into getting a pair of pantyhose to relieve the pain.
I wear high denier tights but I really don't like sheer or light denier. They remind me of school and I've yet to find a shade that resembles human in any colour. I wouldn't go bare legged to a funeral though is wear dark or patterned opaque tights.
