I love all the dresses, especially the 2 that Po posted! I love long dresses but they tend to look stupid on me.
spring - I love the long dress on you. I would wear that color with black or white sandals.
As for the little cardigan, this isn't pointed at you just the fashion world in general - I am always the odd man out on those things. I don't like shrugs or short sleeved cardigans on anyone. I just don't see the point. If it's to cover something up, just get a short or long sleeved dress instead of sleeveless. If it's for warmth, then a gauzy wrap or open knit shrug short sleeved cardigan aren't going to do much. Instead why not get something 3/4 or long sleeved. But that's just me.
Also, I'm willing to bet you look great in anything sleeveless!
PS You have LOTS of girlfriends!! Here we are! Yoohoo! : )

I like these. They look bra friendly.
The downside of spring and summer dresses, for me, is the overabundance of sleeveless looks. I hate my upper arms.
Bur, real shoulder straps are friendlier than spaghetti straps for me.

I'm a big maxi-dress lover, but I think the shorter one looks great on you!

Sometimes I swear we're related. I used to think the *same* damn thing. We had friends visiting last year and she had these cute short sleeve lightweight cardigan type things and on a whim I tried one on while we were out shopping. I realized it was the perfect way to get more use out of my tank tops that I wouldn't normally wear out alone during the warmer months (or spaghetti strap types that don't cover my bra). I could sorta cover up and mix and match stuff. I would always see pretty summer dresses (why are most sleeveless!?), but never try them on because they're sleeveless or I know would show my bra. I guess it gives me just enough to feel comfortable wearing sleeveless. I know me and if I'm not comfortable in it, I'll never pull it off the hanger to wear it and that's just a waste of money.
I've gotten over it a little because if it's hot enough I'll go sleeveless because I wilt in the heat and NEED my breeze.

I'm ALL about bra-strap-friendly. Strapless bras make me quite unhappy. And, no way can I go without any bra.
I agree about there being too many sleeveless styles. It always takes me a bit to get used to sleeveless each summer. In June, I'm hiding under shrugs. By August, I no longer give a crap what anyone thinks of my upper arms.

RCW, I love those, especially that first one!
Meant to say thank you for this. I always know I can get 100% honest opinions to help guide me through this whole dressing myself thing.
And I agree, white or black shoes would look better, which means I'll have to shoe shop. I want to say I enjoy that, but I don't. I'm hunting for some versatile and comfortable flip flops.
Po, thank you so much!

The only thing I don't do is strapless. They require strapless bra, and then there's the needing and hoping they stay put, and I just can't deal with that much maintenance.
I prefer no spaghetti straps either, but I guess I have one of those as well.
I've been eyeing a couple of dresses and will go try them on soon. Perhaps a pair of sandals as well.

No summer dress thread would be complete without a discussion of chub-rub. I bought a pair of these last summer...and they are the ONLY reason I have bought new summer dresses this year. They work FAB!
They come in a panty version as well, but I like just the thigh coveralls.

Speaking of sweaters I just got this from Eddie Bauer. It is not as lacy looking in real life but still cute. Will not let me post pic-I hate that.
Lattice Lace Cardigan | Eddie Bauer
They also have some dresses that I like but I have not bought any yet. Title Nine has some really cute ones too! But kinda pricey so I have not hit the buy button yet.
I love these two. I too, hate my uppers arms but figure, unless I am willing to do something about them I have to suck it up

Thanks for the reminder about these. I wanted to buy them last year but didn't. I just ordered some! I love dresses in summer, but my thighs just make it so uncomfortable sometimes....I often wear thin little bike shorts under dresses (more comfortable than most of the shape-wear type little shorts I've found). I'm excited for these because they'll be so much cooler!
