We haven't found a place to live yet and the plan is to find an extended stay hotel type place to stay while we look for a house to rent (I hope *crosses fingers*). We're thinking Petaluma or Novato if we can find something, it will still be about a 45 minute commute but they're the closest towns from what I can tell.

There is some Coast Guard housing (I've seen pictures...I'll refrain from comment. LOL), but it would really be a conflict of interest for us to live there because one of DH's many hats there will be housing officer. I certainly don't want the politics of that on my front door every day.

And thanks! I'm really proud of him and he can't stop beaming. <~~He looks sorta like that, but with a mustache.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

A quick Calvin update, he's seemed to have flipped his isht at some point yesterday and is spazzing OUT in his crate now.

No more going in there of his own free will.
No more quietly chillin' out and snoozing.
Panting like there is no tomorrow.
Whining like the end of the world is near. (doesn't he know we've got until October?!?)

I'm hoping it's just residual effects of his stomach (I think?) issues yesterday and he got to spend a little time out of the crate and it set us back attitude wise. This guessing game of figuring out what the hell is going on has made my already fried brain absolutely dead.

Awww...poor Calvin...poor springy!

I was pet sitting a couple of big dogs. Their pet mommy told me they get allergies really bad and if they start itching to give them a Benadryl tablet. They quit itching and remained very calm (it's the ingredient they use in OTC sleep meds). Just wondering if you could slip Calvin one - making sure it doesn't interfere with his other meds of course! You don't want to keep him drugged up all the time, but it would be nice to have options if he's wigging out...especially for the drive out to Cali.

I hope the next few weeks pass quickly for you having to deal with the move and Calvin's crate-cation! Sending you some

If it weren't against all that's decent and right in the world, I'd drug my puppy with Benadryl every darned day.

Hope Calvin gets well soon. Or at least relaxes.

I've considered the Benadryl so I may have to call the vet and see if it would interfere with his current meds. He's on a pain pill and a muscle relaxer and apparently the effects of those have worn off and he's spazzo.

It probably doesn't help that it's really warm in the house and he's probably hot in the bed I have in his crate. If I take it out he's only got a hard metal pan to lay on soooo.... I've got a fan blowing on him though.

He's also being super finicky about where he goes poop at. I mean seriously..you've been pooping in these areas for 4 years and NOW you wanna be a queen about it?

Thank you guys for the suggestions and well wishes...and for putting up with my venting steam.

Mmmmm...ice cream!

THANK YOU. I'm so glad to know he's not the only one and maybe it will help me find some patience.

We've done the same poop/pee routine for 4 years and now all of a sudden the areas he used to go, he acts like they're haunted and won't go NEAR them. The thing is it's down each side of our wooded driveway and he's GOT to go there! He's got 400 feet of side of the driveway space to use and all of a sudden it's inferior. My little drama queen..bless his heart.

OH MY WORD!!!

Just hung up with DH and the packers will be here THURSDAY!! We were expecting them next week! So we've got a busy couple of days ahead of us!! So excited!

They still can't tell us what day they'll actually be here with a truck to load us though. That part pretty much stinks because I need to schedule to have the power off, cancel our cable services and turn in the equipment, rent a U-haul dolly for the car and let our landlord know. Thank mercy he's been SO understanding with all of this, we really should have been able to give him 30 days notice.

So, I guess we'll be living in the land of boxes for several days because I'm pretty sure they don't work on the weekend.

Whew, what a whirlwind!!

As a seasoned veteran of military moves, if they are coming Thursday, they may well pack you all up and crate it that day. If not, then by the end of Friday for sure. I don't think they ever let it go over the weekend. Packers are amazingly fast. Sometimes this means they aren't the most careful packers--they pack bowling balls with fragile vases and glassware. (yeah, it happened)

But be prepared to be out on Friday either way.

We usually are in a hotel room the last few days so everything but power can be cut off.

I'm sure you already know, but keep the suitcases you are keeping in a locked area or they will be packed! (I've heard, we always keep them separate).

Good luck!

I am reeeeeealy hoping they come load us Friday! Our very first move they packed and loaded the same day and it was a nightmare. Our last move they packed one day, loaded the next and it was great, but we'll see! It's so last minute they didn't even send a survey person out, just an over the phone with DH so no telling what will happen.

I've already got an area set aside downstairs for all our 'do not pack' stuff to go into. Thankfully that room includes a place to hang some clothes! Whew, my brain is swimming with all the last minute stuff we thought we had the rest of the week to finish.

Our last move I was in AWE of how fast they packed our stuff, woah they're good. I hope we get that lucky this time too! Our first move, what a story, but in a nutshell the whole crew was craptastic and SLOW. I thought we'd never get outta there and it caused a few problems.

Thanks for the advice and input from past experiences!! This is only our third move so I feel like I'm still getting my feet wet on the process and it always seems to change. We definitely had WAY more advance notice of a timeline on our last move. I'm ready to get on the road and DH's boss is wanting him to stay through NEXT Friday. I'm pretty steamed about that and hope it doesn't pan out. Don't make momma mad!

Wow, they really don't give you much time! Good luck with the move...I hate to say it, but it's pretty crappy weather out here right now. It's raining today and there's more rain in the forecast, which for Northern California is not normal in June!

I honestly would welcome cold and rainy right now it's so stinkin hot and humid in the house...all this bustling around doing stuff and I'm drenched!

I think we may get a break in the heat and humidity the next few days so y'all keep your fingers crossed so the folks working on packing us up are comfortable and not cranky throwing my stuff in a box without paper.

I'm so tired I didn't even finish dinner because it took too much effort to chew. What the hell?

CL, not sure if I still have it..would you midn PM'ing it to me and I'll put it in my phone?

Jaynee, we'll be almost neighbors before we know it!!! I can't wait to get there and see the area...w00t!!!

{{{xcptnl}}}

I've sat long enough, gotta get back at it.
