I need a big hug emote. {{{saria}}} You guys are the bestest.
OBB, I am so excited about the journey!! Even if we will be towing a car the whole way which kinda freaks me out. "Keep her company" Boy, that's an understatement about her roommate.
Thank you, CL!!

VTmom, thank you so much! He is definitely feeling better, just going to take time for that injury to heal up. Him being crated has actually been a blessing because I've been running around today like a chicken with its head cut off and he would have been right under foot and I probably would have done a face plant tripping on him.
NetG - We're doing the northern route, I-80 most of the way, I think that's right.
We found out today even though they're packing us tomorrow they won't come load us until Monday. Should be a fun 3 days in a house with only boxes. The good news? My DH's mom surprised us BOTH today by taking the AmTrak up from GA to CT to surprise him at his advancement ceremony this morning. Then they both came home and surprised ME! I'm so glad she's here, it's nice to have an extra hand to help out and some company. She had planned to go back Saturday, but we convinced her to change her ticket and head back Tuesday.
I'm just glad to finally know the actual day they're loading us up. We'll see if it goes as planned though, the folks on the phone at the moving company have already changed something on us once and I have this gut feeling something else will pop up... We shall see! Either way we're headed to CA next week and I'm so excited I can barely see straight. And so exhausted I can't stand!
Thank you guys for the well wishes, it means a lot.

That's a first! Making you wait all weekend with a house full of boxes. Oy! That is really sweet of your MIL to come and help out.
Like I said, take time to breathe! I know how hectic the last days can be. (((BIG HUGS)))

CL, thank you so much..breathing?? What's that!? HAHA Yesterday was hectic and this morning was a bit busy, but we're just waiting on them now and they're supposed to be here at 10. I still have this weird feeling there will be more that doesn't go right for some reason, but I'm still optimistic for the best.
This whole process has just been SO jacked up it's unbelievable. It could have gone much more smoothly if the person we had to deal with had just been helpful. She was a miserable person who hates her job and only lives to make things harder on the people she's dealing with. DH had to meet with her to get paperwork and she was just awful. Like a move isn't stressful enough..I wish I had her job just so I could make things easier on the families that move.

We've moved many times on the Coast Guard's dime and they all went smoothly. I'm so sorry to hear of your moving troubles. Moving is stressful enough and it doesn't help to be dealing with difficult people. Big hugs!

Thank you misspam!
Our last move was as smooth as a babies bottom, but this woman made things way harder than they had to be. The packers seem nice and capable and the sound of packing tape never sounded so good!
We'll just pretend we're camping out all weekend, no biggie. There are worse things to deal with (I'm a big stress ball so that is me trying to keep myself positive )

Spring, is all the stuff packed and gone? Are you sitting in a near empty house? I hope so, since it will mean all is going well.
I saw your post about dinner. LOL How's your MIL? Are you all exhausted?
Have a safe trip and call if you need anything!

Hello....hello....helloooo... Anyone hear an echo? The house is EMPTY!
Worst moving company EVAR, but it's all loaded on a truck and outta here. Even though one of the guys was a total moron and we basically had two people loading our ENTIRE house (we had four last time) at the end of the day it all got done and we're moving forward.
My MIL is a trooper, I tell ya. I'm so glad she was here, she provided a mom hug yesterday when it was much needed that I'm sure my mom would have been glad she had a stand-in. DH is taking her to the train station so she'll be headed back to GA in a few hours.
Just an air mattress and a dog in a crate (I'm using him as my bedside table/coffee table, if he spills my coffee I'm leaving him here ) and DH used the acoustics of our living room to play his cello in last night.
We're going to see what we can get done today and if we can swing it we'll leave this afternoon and make a few hours headway toward my friends house we're staying with tomorrow night. Gonna be slow going with towing the car and all the stuff we have. Driving through the mountainous areas when we get to them should be...interesting? I'm so ready for this part, but I'm having to fight back a few tears. I didn't think I'd find myself missing this place before we even left.
CL, thank you for checking in on me, I really appreciate it. I'll update as we go along, maybe it will help keep my neurotic over-worrying self sane?

We'll definitely be here for online road trip support!
I would have loved to hear the cello concert last night. I bet the acoustics were sweet!

That's what I was thinking!
Yes, we are all here for you on your journey.
And we always miss the place when we're moving, even if we don't think we will so much.

OMG I have 3G on my iPad and this rocks! I'll get to see how good the coverage is cost to coast. LOL. Poor DH is left driving and whistling to entertain himself.
You guys... I leant even express the big smile on my face readin this thread. Y'all mean so much to me and I'm thrilled to share this journey with you.
It was really hard to leave the house today...so weird. We worked our asses off today and left around 5 to drive a few hours then find a place for the night. I am totally freaked out with towing the car behind us. DH said "are you gonna do this all the way to CA?" haha. So glad he puts up with me.
Calvin is so glad to be out of his crate...little does he know he may go back in it at the hotel. We are gonna have to play his situation by ear and figure it out as we go.
I will try to post some pics along the way too if anyone is interested.
woo hoo. Finally on our way

All the pics you can manage would be dandy!
Here are a few ideas:
1. Odd roadside attractions
2. Seedy hotel rooms
3. Dive bars
Can't wait!!!
