LOL @ misspam, good idea!

I'm glad you are on the road, and can still check in! How cool!

How are you keeping Calvin still on the road if he's not in his crate? Doesn't he need to keep still, still?

I love that you'll be able to check in along the way! Have a safe drive!

Well, thankfully you suggested the pics yourself so I don't have to dema---- err, ask for them.
Put your IPad to use! Type in food/restaurant/cafe when you decide to take a break to see if any interesting local places are nearby. It's always fun to see the hidden away spots.
All the pics you can manage would be dandy!

Here are a few ideas:

1. Odd roadside attractions
2. Seedy hotel rooms
3. Dive bars

Can't wait!!!

I am still learning this iPad thing so I have to learn to find us places to eat with it when I have coverage. Like a restaurant app or something? I usually use the GPS.

Calvin is in his bed in the backseat and on trips he sleeps the WHOLE way so for the most part he's still. I block off the opening from the back to the front where he could jump thru when we make a stop and leave him alone. Thank goodness he travels so well. Just figuring it out as we go really.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
Yep, I use the compass on my phone to look. I like it better than apps most of the time.

That misspam is a terrible influence!

I love misspam's ideas!

Seedy hotel rooms make for great photos, especially those with themes: colonial, western, or aquatic, to name a few.

And there's nothing like oddities along the way. Would you deny us the sight of Babe, Paul Bunyon's blue ox, or a giant mouse with cheese somewhere in Wisconsin?

Might I request funny regional menus as well?

Enjoy your adventure, and keep us updated!
We're in a semi-seedy comfort inn in PA somewhere. Hope I don't catch anything from this bed. Choices are limited with a dog for sure... I called 4 places before I found this one.

Calvin's first night in a crate in a strange place. So far he is doing the quiet whine with the "I'm gonna bite u when I get out" side eye.

It's a non-smoking room, but my eyes are burning from the stench in other rooms so let's hope our next hotel will be a smudge nicer. Next time I hope to plan ahead a stopping point for the night, but tonight was a little too hard to do that.

Big ball of cheese with a huge mouse, now that's one that I'd like to see. Or worlds largest traffic cone?

Thanks for the laughs! I can just picture Calvin!

I'm glad you had a good first day. By now, I hope you're getting a good night's rest!

Terrible influence??? Never heard that one before.......

Hey, I'm just trying to give Springy some ideas to make her trip fun and enjoyable. I also think it's a great way to document the journey and capture those moments for eternity. Is that wrong? lol

Posh hotels are ok, but nothing says good times like a seedy motel complete with foul carpet, hourly rates, and Vibro-matic beds.
The carpet was foul for sure, but no vibrating bed. lol

DH slept like a rock, Calvin snoozed like a champ and I sorta slept. At least the free brekkie was really good, we got a cheap military rate and they didn't charge a pet fee. YAY!

My ankles and hands are all swollen from eating out so much and all the salt I'm not used to, I guess? Thankfully tonight at my friends we will have real food! I need to start searching out salads.

I've gotta figure out how to take a picture from dh's phone and put it on my iPad to post. Cause really what good is a travel thread without pics!

I will get over it...maybe.

Have a great trip and travel safe. I love a good road trip. So funny how you start out all hyped/exited and then that fades and it can go two ways-you deal and it ends up going good or you get all travel cranky and it all goes to heck. Or is that just me on road trips??

Keep checking in. And yes, we do need pictures.

Yes, we haven't heard from Spring in a couple of days.

I hope the trip is going well and you aren't too stressed out!

Have you seen the largest traffic cone yet?
I keep telling hubby about you & laughing when it comes up on some comml we keep seeing at nite on trutv....he was like, is it real?! Where is it? lol
Wile, that commercial is where I got that idea from! LOL

we're in Wyoming and I would have updated if anything exciting had been spotted. When you're towing a car behind a big truck you can't just pull over quick to check things out or take pictures. We've seen some beautiful scenery though, especially after getting into Wyoming. The landscape is like something I've only seen in pictures so it's surreal to see it in person. We did see a huge dinosaur on a hill by the interstate....random!

We're debating on what to do today, maybe drive a really short distance so we can have some time out of the truck and explore an area a little if it's not too hot to leave Calvin in the truck.

Xcptnl, I get cranky tummy when traveling. It's a miserable situation i'll spare you the details of.

I will work on trying to get hubbies phone to upload pics. I tried a few days ago and kept getting an error, but someone suggestested a fix for it I've yet to try.

I can't believe we're over halfway there.

You said you were taking I-80 right? I'd say visit Devil's Tower but it's way up in the north-east corner. That's the only one I know in WY.

I get cranky stomach without even traveling. I have a 'sensitive' stomach so you do not need to explain. I know. I know where all the restrooms are in New England-I swear.

Missbanjo, we are on 80, but we're in the SW corner now. I'll look that up though because it sounds interesting. There is a lot of nothing out here so need things to do. I can't believe I have Internet still.

Xcptnl, in the words of my mom I have a " delicate constitution" like my great grandmother. Always makes me laugh because nothing about me is delicate.
