I saw a post somewhere around here about her being homesick at her hotel.

I couldn't figure out if she was in CA yet or at a hotel along the way.

Where has our Spring1 sprung2?

Have I mentioned y'all rock? Cause ya do. We got here this past Tuesday (the 14th) and after we found a hotel and got checked in I passed out. Ever since then we've been out pounding the pavement trying our best to find a place. To say we're not having any luck is an understatement. I thought I had a lead earlier today on a place about 5 minutes from DH's work only to call and be told no pets even though it wasn't in the listing. The population of the town where DH will be working is 350 people so the rental market isn't exactly hot there and the closest commuting towns are a 45-60 minute drive away and even those areas are slim pickin's.

And to top it all off some guy on a very winding country road today passed us them slammed hard on his brakes in front of us twice while flipping us off almost throwing the dog into the floorboard. We weren't meandering and at some points were doing more than the speed limit so I have no idea what crawled up his ass, but DH was so insanely mad he said "This is why I don't carry a gun" and was ready to beat the guy to a pulp. I was pretty upset about it too because it was super scary. I was terrified he was going to stop completely and get out of his truck and do who knows what.

So on top of an already stressful day that guy pulled his antics and I'm just...done..for today.

We do have an open house to go to Saturday for a rental, but that leads me to believe they've had so much interest we'll have to compete for it. So, any curly vibes you can send this girls way would be much appreciated.

I know things will improve, but my WORD my mental state is shot!

Hopefully I'll have an update soon that we've found a place and are no longer living in a hotel (that could really be cleaner..really, wtf are the housekeepers getting paid for here? ).

I've finally got my laptop back out after using the iPad for so long so I'll be able to post a few pics from the trip, albeit a little late in the game.

If you made it this far reading all this rambling, bless you. Y'all help keep my spirits up more than you know checking in on me.

Aw Spring, I'm sorry youre having such a hard time out here so far. I will keep my eyes out for rentals and let you know if I find anything. PM me if I can help at all, even if you just need a rec for a restaurant or something. Hang in there!

Thank you so much! It's strangely comforting that I "know" someone so close by. I've mentioned you to DH and we were riding around Petaluma Wednesday and came across the letter streets area and I told him about your email with the area info. in it. And yes please, if you spot something or hear of anything let me know.

We finally went to Trader Joe's today and picked up a few things to cook at the hotel, but I'll definitely be looking for some restaurant rec's at some point. We got a fantastic (albeit super damn expensive) sandwich at Bianchini's on McDowell Blvd the other day and I don't know if it was just because we were starving or what, but my word it was tasty. We're staying in San Rafael and haven't really found anything great here.

Mmm I love Bianchini's! They have the best portobello sandwich! San Rafael has a very well known Puerto Rican restaurant called Sol Food, I think on 4th st. I know people who will drive down from Petaluma on their lunch break just to eat there. Also, Napoli on 4th st has the best thin crust pizza!

DH even mentioned the portobello sandwich to me (I stayed in the car while he ordered because of the dog) so I'll have to try it! We got a turkey club and a turkey avocado on the Dutch crunch bread. Nom nom nom

I saw the Sol Food place so it's on my radar and I'm definitely looking up Napoli because I've been jonesing for some pizza. Thank you!!!

Calvin is doing pretty darn good considering how stressed he gets with change. He's sort of changed up his eating habits and takes to hiding under the bed from time to time, but he seems to be doing ok. He even went into his crate THREE times all on his own!! I am still having a heart attack over that.

Thank you for the well wishes!

Yay! Calvin is such a good boy!!! I'm so jealous of you getting to go to Trader Joe's! I always wanted to try their conditioner and they have great prices on beer and wine

Oh spring! I hope you find something soon! This sucks.

I will be thinking of you all saturday and hoping that the landlord is BLOWN AWAY by your great curls and wants you to rent.

Ignore the idiots. We are in excess here.

Poor guy, it's probably familiar and safe.

I'm sorry you were greeted to the area by such idiots.

But YAY, you're here! Safely! Whee! All the best curly vibes going out for you to find the perfect place, and quickly!

I wish I had more info on that area for you.

I use their conditioner and love it! DH is thrilled the TJ's here sells wine because in CT they couldn't. If you want me to mail you some conditioner after we get settled I'd be glad to, just say the word!

I am going to be channeling this good vibe. If they don't know the goodness of of a curly haired tenant I don't need 'em.

Seriously, the good vibes are more than enough and more helpful than y'all will ever know.

Jaynee PM'd me a fantastic tour-guide-esque message with some Craig's List links of places to check out, some of which I hadn't seen. I've spent so many hours scouring things that it's all beginning to blend together.

I'm making a list right now of addresses for us to ride by and check out tomorrow.

I've really got my fingers crossed for the open house 2 minutes from DH's work on Saturday. I really hate the thought of him having to drive an hour one way every single day to work, but it may be unavoidable.

Yum Puerto Rican food. I'm still really jealous DD is in AL enjoying all of my Puerto Rican BIL's yummy food.

Thank you, Jess!!

A few pictures taken along the way. I regret I didn't get any of the neat stuff we saw like the dinosaur on the side of the interstate and some other weird-o things. You'll see from the first picture why it was hard to pull over quickly. You can't back up at ALL when using a tow dolly so we always had to be careful where we pulled into.

Our first day on the road! Had to stop for an iced coffee at McDonalds.

Windmill farm, I forget what state.

We saw a lot of these going in the opposite direction and I kept having a fit over them "I wish I could get a picture!!" and finally we came upon one. This is one propeller for the windmill!

It was hard to get a good picture of him in a bumpy truck, but this was Calvin's nest for 3000 miles.

The wind, oh the damn wind. It plagued me for three days and here I am in Wyoming. I swear I was blinded by hair for three days and almost got blown over into the side of the truck the gusts were so strong the whole time. It was crazy wicked wind!

Mmmmmm...Mexican for dinner somewhere in Utah I think.

Ah-HA!! Proof that I do indeed own a different shirt! Bonneville salt flats, we walked on them and Jason had to taste it to make sure it indeed was salty. Weirdo.

Squint and you can see our micro-machine parked amidst the big boys. Jason climbed a major steep hill to take this shot and you bet your butt I sat in the truck. Someone had to stay with Calvin, right?

Me contemplating where to hide Jason's body if he doesn't stop talking about buying a damn motorcycle.

These little dudes were every freakin' where at this rest stop, it was crazy! They were skittering all over the place and one came right over to my foot and looked at me like "Hey, where's my dinner?" Prairie dog, I think?

I think this may have been leaving Utah? I forget.

Me in the reflection of the canoe at a rainy rest stop...somewhere?

I think that's it for now!

Yup it's a prairie dog, they're everywhere out here. It's probably more tame cuz it's a rest stop and people give it food. They're not normally that friendly.
