Woohoo! Yes, the fun will begin when your shipment arrives. Rest up! It's great to have good landlords, it really makes all the difference. My solemn German landlord cried with me when we left, he got to be like an uncle, I miss seeing him work in the back garden each weekend, etc.

Awe CL, thats so sweet about your previous landlord.

If there are any negatives about these folks it's that they're the type that take three hours to say goodbye. It could just be because we're still new to everything and there is so much information to share. I'm thankful they're so nice though and we didn't get some azzhat with an attitude. The landlady has already given me two vet suggestions for Calvin so that's next on my agenda in case he has another emergency back issue. It's killing me not to let him run up the steps or just run around the house. He still likes to romp and play like a puppy and is just so darn happy doing it that I feel horrible having to make him stop. He's doing ok with staying off the steps so far though and only tried to go up a few times on his own. Hopefully he'll just get it that he's to stay off them like the stairs we had in CT. those were slick spiral stairs though and I think he was afraid of them. These are carpet and he can bounce right up them.

We're at the laundromat so hopefully we can shop for a ser soon and get them delivered. I've got a little research to do!

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
How exciting!!! So happy you got a new place and it did not take too long. Jealous of the frig with frig on top, freezer on bottom. I want one of those too. I am soooo annoyed that I let SO take me into a side by side when we bought all new appliances!! Oh well, 15 more years to go before we can buy a new one. If I am lucky.

All this moving around is a good way to test drive different things so by the time we buy our forever house i'll know what I like/dislike. I had a side by side in FL and I don't miss it at all. Maybe yours will break prematurely? Hehe

Not to totally guano this thread or anything but why do you want a fridge on top/freezer on bottom so much, xcptnl? We have one in the house we're renting and I hate it. The freezer seems so small and the ice maker takes up 1/4. With that and the stupid pull out basket this freezer is just annoying.

Spring1onu, I'm glad you're moved and getting settled.Your landlords sound great.
I haven't even been grocery shopping yet and I can see already where the freezer basket/drawer thing may be annoying. I will say it's nice to have the fridge part up top because I can see everything so much better, but I guess that's the tradeoff.

My threads are always guano friendly.

Thank you MrsP!

Mine is a fridge on top, freezer on bottom and I like it that way. Our whole freezer drawer pulls out and also tilts. I have no problems filling it up, lots of room. The fridge is double door, water on the door.

CL, a friend of mine has one exactly like that and she loves it. I can't wait to get the freezer full and see what I think about it. This also means I have to go grocery shopping and I'm not looking forward to it. We have Safeway which I checked out yesterday and didn't like at all and also Raley's which I haven't been in yet. Really made me miss our awesome Big Y in CT though because that Safeway was so dark and cramped.

Yep, ridiculous I've put this much thought into the grocery store.

Today DH is at work for his first full day and the house is eerily quiet and empty, except for the sounds of kids screaming (playing? hehe)in the park. We have a nest of baby birds under the eave of the front porch and boy do they fuss when theyre ready to eat. Thankfully Calvin doesnt bark at them and it's fun to watch the parents swoop in and out.

Maybe it's that grass is greener thing. The ones I have looked at seemed so much more practical than our side by side. Maybe I am not jonesing for one quite so bad now.

Yay for moving!

I love my side by side frig and always replace a regular frig if it comes with any house I buy. Just so much easier to find and get at everything. Hate freezer on the bottom. I guess it's because I use a freezer more than a frig. I wish I could switch the frig side with the freezer side. That would be perfect!

Called this morning to set up the household goods delivery and it'll be here Thursday! I could hardly believe it and asked her " you mean THIS Thursday!?!" she seemed surprised too...at best I was expecting next week. Here's hoping it stays on schedule.

And we go pick up our cable modem this afternoon if DH gets out of work in time so I can finally get back on my laptop. w00t! I'll finally be able to post a few pictures.

We just bought a freezer on bottom fridge and I love it so far! There were some models that I could see being annoying (size, type of drawer etc) but ours is great (at least so far).

It's interesting to hear about the different likes/dislikes on the fridges. I've still yet to go grocery shopping, but I did find an interesting grocery prospect this evening and I'm excited to go check the store out!

On a fantastic note, the storage place called today and said they can deliver Wednesday. I almost fainted, for realz. He said "I thought you might want your stuff" Well, HELL YEAH I DO! He was really nice and hopefully it wasn't all a dream or some weird bad thing won't happen. I'm always holding my breath waiting on the poo to hit the fan with all of this.

Another good note, we ordered our washer and dryer today and it will be here Thursday. Here's hoping they're not pieces of junk because I couldn't find any reviews on the particular models we got. They have so many buttons and things on them now they all break so fast it seems.

A bad note, Mr. Calvin had an issue with his back this afternoon. He got into an area he shouldn't have been and jumped up onto a landing and yelped as he did it. It was my fault for not putting the item we had blocking it back as soon as I was done vacuuming. He seemed ok right afterword, he was moving and walking ok, but I immediately put him in his crate and he's back on strict crate rest until we can get the last of this moving stuff out of the way and I can find him a vet. It scared me so bad and I've done nothing but stress over it all afternoon. So, any little good doggie back vibes anyone wants to send will be graciously accepted.

And now that we have real internet again (amen!) here are a few pics of the outside. I'll gladly post a few of the box pandemonium after they deliver our stuff too, that's always fun.

Oh my gosh how cute!! And is that a chimmney I see. Oh how I miss my fireplace.

Poor Calvin All my good doggie vibes are directed at him right now. Poor, sweet, awesome Calvin that was so well behaved that landlords decided you needed to live in that cute house.

Jess, Calvin says thank you! He also added if you would like to help facilitate his escape he's open to ideas.

We do have a fireplace! It's a gas insert and my cold tootsies in the evening sure have enjoyed it. I'm surprised how cold it gets here at night!

Yeah, this is definitely NOT the boonies. This is the closest we've ever lived to neighbors and it's definitely taking some adjusting. We both prefer our space, but I could certainly think of worse places to spend the next 4 years.

I can't remember if I mentioned it, but we met our next door neighbors our first day here and he's from the same teeeeeny tiny small town in GA I'm from! Small world, eh? I couldn't believe it.

Looking at the pictures I realize the front windows look like huge eyes and the garage is about to eat the cars! "nom, nom, nom...goooood cars"
