Pottermore!
After finding another Browncoat on this board yesterday (and that is a much more obscure realm of fandom than Harry Potter), I feel it only appropriate that we discuss this Pottermore business. I'm still not entirely sure how it's going to work, but I am VERY EXCITED about Harry Potter eBooks.

My son is excited. I like the idea of more background info on the world/characters, but don't care much about interactive sites.
As long as it's better than Beetle the Bard or that little James/Sirius snippet!

Blah blah potter blah blah.
This woman has talent...why is she not writing more books...original books...instead of doing all this nonsense-potter-add-on stuff? She's young...she's got time to write several more series just as good as HP. She's wasting our precious time.
Get busy, Ms Rowling.

Maybe she's afraid everything will be compared to HP. I mean its a great series and hard to do beat it. When you do something that becomes as big as the potter series, i would be a little resisted to doing something new as well.

Although I am excited to see the new website, I do agree with you @RedCatWaves. I am ready to have some more books to obsess over! Maybee she could even write a prequel to the series Either way, I'm ready for July 15 and I plan on going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter sometime afterwards so I can totally geek out

Although I do feel like the whole fandom is being strung along a little bit, I still love Harry potter and am excited for this new site. I mean, it's called pottermore. Meaning, more Harry potter! Woohoo!

Honestly, I don't think she will ever be able to write a series just as good as HP, and she knows that. She's said before that she doesn't know if she'll ever write anything outside of the Wizarding World because nothing will ever compete, and it will always be held up to HP. HP is something extremely special, and with the last movie coming out in 22 days, it's truly the end of an era. I think any more things she does write will be within the Wizarding World.
Personally, I'd love for "The Life and Times of Albus Dumbledore" to be released as a full-length novel, to expand on the small excerpt we got in DH.

Yeah.. Im not getting it exactly. So the HP books are coming out as e-books?
Big deal. I don't... care.
I mean - new bits of information is cool, but why all the site and everything? Why not just put it in a damn book already so I can read it without bothering with all this?
I too wish she was writing a new book - a proper one not like that tiny Beadle Bard thingy.
The Life and Times of Albus Dumbledore would be epic. Or even The Maulderers - their time at Hogwarts up until the death of Lily and James. I would love that.

I don't think she needs to wow us with another book, and personally, I really have no issue with her milking whatever she can out of the series. If she just releases new things within the Harry potter universe I'll be fine. A book about the marauders would be fabulous, especially because beedle the bard was WEAK.

I think she feels a little unsatisfied with the Harry Potter Universe. Not so much as Harry Potter's story, but I know that a lot of characters were cut/trimmed for clarity and length. I mean, in every interview she talks about how she had a huge part/back story for Dean Thomas, but it didn't fit into the narrative.
I also think this is a clever rouse so she can release books under a pen name without anyone catching on.

Her next book, A Casual Vacancy, is available for preorder. It's scheduled to be released 9/27. It was written for adults.

Me, too. I hope I can judge it on its own merits and not expect it to be another Potter.

It's going to be interesting.
Not sure its my kind of book it sounds a little bit like Miss Marple or something lol, but as its JK I doubt it's what it seems.
Its pretty brave though - a lot of people are going to judge it incredibly harshly against HP!

I can't wait for her New book to come out! I really enjoyed Harry Potter, and I don't mind her doing more stuff with the Potter world. My oldest son and I got lucky to be BETA for Pottermore, I was sorted in Slytherin and its been fun getting to test all the stuff out on the site. They delays with it going public were very necessary, they had lots of stuff to fix! Its quite fun and VERY kid friendly.
