Thanks for that lovely story!
I work next door to a soup kitchen and over the years I've come to 'know' many of the regulars. I see my favorites 'Dennis and Beverly' all over town and they are just a nice sweet couple (they aren't homeless, but destitute and have some mental issues). Dennis isn't someone you'd want to hug necessarily but I accept his big bear hugs when I see him. I think they are just happy to have someone talk to them and treat them like everyone else.
One day it was pouring down rain and I offered them a ride and they refused because they didn't want to get my seats wet. I could not convince them it didn't matter. I still feel bad about it.
If it stops raining tomorrow I'm going to pick apples with my dad. Not really a happy thing for me since he annoys me so much, but it makes him happy.

My happy thing is still being decided: one of the dogs chewed on my new glasses.
The good news: I don't really think they look good on me anyway, and they leave a gouge under my eye, which I really don't need.
The bad news: I've used up my vision insurance $ for the year.
On the whole, is this good or bad news?
Update:
It's good news: I snapped the lens back into place, and the chewing made the frames looser, so even though they're mangled and I look even more like a crazy person, they're a lot more comfortable, and good enough for working, to boot.
So, yay!
Thanks, silly doggies.

Reason: good news after all.

I get to go snuggle the teeny-tiny puppies again this weekend. They're so wee and cute! And their eyes still aren't open, so they just cuddle up to you and fall asleep.

Aw! I've never been with puppies that young. Do they mew like kittens?

I got to handle newborn puppies before, they are so cute. I was dog sitting the mom for a few weeks, and she had 10 puppies on the second day! I felt very lucky that she trusted me enough to be there when she had them and let me handle them. It's been so long I barely remember what they look like now. I wish I had a camera back then.

Mmmhm! They sound almost like a softly crying human baby if Sophie (the mom) gets up and leaves them without anything warm to snuggle up with. Their normal noises are somewhere between kitten and piglet though. Lots of mewing and little snorts.

Just found out several local Universities have Quidditch teams. The Snitch is some guy wearing a gold tshirt running around hiding on campus haha! He's got an actual snitch attached to a ribbon dangling from his hip (like flag football). The seekers are trying to track him down and capture the flag.
"float like a snitch, sting like a bludger!" is their catch phrase. This is going to be amazing.

A warm sunny beautiful day. Took a long walk in the woods. Saw a caterpillar, some chameleons, some pretty flowers, millions of ferns. Came across an old peach tree and they were delicious. I liked these big trees.

I found fleece gloves lined with polartec-stuff for $5. I thought I would have to pay $25 or more.

Honey graham sticks + Nutella = a very happy thing.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

No!
Not Nutella again!
springy, you know it's my weakness (typing while standing up, about to leave to go buy some, having eaten all that was left from the last time we talked about Nutella).

Ooops!! Sorry! (hope you get graham crackers to go with it...those sticks are hard to find, but man they're good! Whole Foods usually carries them...hint, hint)

Went to Outback Steakhouse today! We consumed a crapload of calories, but I don't care, it was good!
ETA: I also went to Ikea and bought my mom two beautiful green plates and a stove top grill that she's been coveting for a long time now.

Finally Moving Forward
In grad school, I initially had planned to go on to get my doctorate upon completion. However after graduation, I got pregnant, had an early birth and life happened, Needless to say everything I was pursuing career wise and educationally got put on hold.
Now almost 5yrs later, I just got news that I got into Johns Hopkins and with the course schedules, I will be able to complete the remainder of the requirements I need for my clinical licensure in 8 months. On top of that I will also come out with certification in clinical community counseling which is an awesome bonus...especially in this economy! It never hurts to have something to set you apart from all the other competition for jobs/opportunities.
It just feels awesome to finally be getting myself back to where I wanted to be and know that I will be able to provide for my child in the way I want to...without having to rely on a man! Lol!
