Let's share happy things!

In grad school, I initially had planned to go on to get my doctorate upon completion. However after graduation, I got pregnant, had an early birth and life happened, Needless to say everything I was pursuing career wise and educationally got put on hold.

Now almost 5yrs later, I just got news that I got into Johns Hopkins and with the course schedules, I will be able to complete the remainder of the requirements I need for my clinical licensure in 8 months. On top of that I will also come out with certification in clinical community counseling which is an awesome bonus...especially in this economy! It never hurts to have something to set you apart from all the other competition for jobs/opportunities.

It just feels awesome to finally be getting myself back to where I wanted to be and know that I will be able to provide for my child in the way I want to...without having to rely on a man! Lol!

Good for you, JM!

p.s. Buy a new pen to celebrate

Thanks.Lol I hear you. Thankfully JHU has a wide range of courses and I need a few electives so I'm taking 'counseling gay & lesbian youth, sexuality and intimacy in marital relationships, play therapy and psychopharmacology for counselors' this semester. I don't think I will be bored! Lol

Actually the really good thing is that JHU gives you an allowance in your financial aid for travel, personal expenses, etc so I'm replacing the laptop my son broke for a smaller one to use in classes as well as getting myself some really girly school supplies. Pens included!

Excellent.

It sounds like a great school.
I've gotten quite a few compliments on my hair today, which is funny since I didn't think it was anything special. But, hey! I'll take 'em.

I am wearing one of the headbands I made and it looks so cute on.

The weather was amazing today, I got all of the leaves raked up in the yard, cleaned out my closet and found a pair of shoes for my potential new job at the local thrift store brand new for $2.00.

OHHHHH!!! YAAAY! *claps hands gleefully* LOVE THIS THREAD!!

I have been taking TWO free dance classes. ONE is for Zumba on Mondays and Fridays. And the other is for Belly Dance on Tuesdays. I have been studying/ practicing belly dance on my own for about a year now. Imagin my JOY to be in a FREE class once a week.
