Garbage truck didn't come this week, as garbage day fell on Christmas.

Our wonderful neighbors collected all the trash from everyone's house on our street, and made a few dump runs today.

We thanked them by bringing them some lunch and lemonade!

We're happy, they're happy

I spent frivolous $$ on myself for the first time in years.

I'm always saving money to help my sister who is on food stamps. But today I threw caution to the winds and bought a dress for an upcoming wedding. It felt great to treat myself for a change!

A guy who works at the thrift shop decided to pay for my purchase of a 70s-style shelf. It was just a dollar, but it was damned nice of him. Stunned me, too.

It's Saturday night, DD1 is feeling better/stronger every day, the in-laws came for a nice holiday visit, and have safely returned home, we have another week to winter break ahead, and just six months until we get to visit the in-laws and the rest of the family on their turf.

Oh, and Rosie didn't pee or poop on the carpet today

Spent a wonderful day with bro. & SIL yesterday. Visited a farm. Saw sheep, cows, chickens, horses (huge!) pigs (enormous boar). The cows were so totally lovable and had big heads and gentle eyes. It was feeding time and the farmers talked to us about how everything used to be in the 1800's and how it has changed. We saw many old interesting farm implements.

Wonderful day. I think I was a cow in a former life.

I love all animals! Cows are so beautiful. We have cows for neighbors. When we moved in next to them, I asked the owner if it was okay if we petted them and fed them little treats like apples or carrots. He said sure. I asked what their names were and he said "we don't name them....wait, are you going to name them???" Yes, yes I did. And they come when I call them by name :-) If they get out of their fence, they don't run away, they come and look in my kitchen window with looks on their faces that say, "Hey carrot lady, we'll get back in the fence if you pet us and give us treats!!" Once they ate all my tulips. I really wish I had take a photo of a cow in my flowers with a tulip hanging out of her mouth!!! The farmer thought I was mad. No, I just grabbed the carrots and led them to the gate Big ole babies!

Woke up to cloud cover and a cool day, took the dog for a decent walk (instead of a round-the-block-after-dark walk) picked plums off the tree (before the birds got them all), dug potatoes up and then watched two tennis finals which were both, amazingly, won by Aussies. 'Twas a good day.

Nice cooler weather again this week, spent several hours tidying up the back garden today, then when I came in for lunch the shoes I had ordered online finally arrived. I was beginning to think they'd never get here after three weeks and two ignored emails.

Oh yes I am! They are such sweet people! They've been married 12 years and this is their first. They've been trying all along; they wanted kids from day 1. They've had 4 foster children,3 have "aged out" and then just last spring they finished paperwork with the state to be eligible to adopt the youngest and then the birth-mother changed her mind and all of a sudden there was a baby on the way!!!!!

I think my boss is starting to really like and appreciate me.

With only 1-2 exceptions, the people I work with are incredibly nice and sweet to me! It's amazing. Very different from the last place I worked where people were cold, often arrogant and very formal.

My current co-workers are always smiling at me and jump in to help me and they are so warm. I am blessed!
